On the plus side the counter help are very nice. Pleasantly surprised at half price Tuesday when I picked up my pizza. On the down side: the pizza was below average. The crust was thin and heavy with an uncooked layer of dough under the toppings. I don't think it rose properly. The toppings were sparse and mediocre. Primarily a take out place. Although sit down dining is provided, I drive by all the time and usually don't see anyone. The place is bright and clean, the owner and staff are super friendly and the food is good. I love the fact that I can get a bust your gut delicious beef kabob dinner with Greek salad for chump change. The burgers and pizza are good too. Having seen several restaurants come and go at this location, I really hope they make it. By the way, it is directly opposite the harbor, so the views are great. I love this place. The food is really good and they have the best calzones. Their delivery is pretty bad though, like dont order unless you plan on waiting for more than an hour. (my last 2 deliverys have been both over an hour and 30 minutes, both not on weekends either) Also the wings are amazing, the goldfever sauce is like, the best. GL. read more

New owner and new name. It was previously Roma Pizza, and a few other names before that. I decided to give it a shot and see what this owner had to offer, compared to the previous ones. I saw an ad in the paper for All You Can Eat Pizza on Monday and Tuesday nights for $5. I figured I couldn't lose, and to my surprise, I was impressed. The pizza was pretty good. The owner is really cool and the atmosphere was friendly and casual. I watched some of the big screen tv in there and ate pepperoni pizza until I was full. I will definitely be back to try some other stuff. read more

The food was delicious , but I had to use the restroom before we had even ordered our food, and I was told they do not have a bathroom!!! Come on, of course you have a bathroom, where do all your staff go to the bathroom??? This is just obsurd, I totally understand that people do come in off the street looking to use the bathroom, but a paying customer should have access if need be!!!! Something to think about!!! The prices here were very reasonable and my girlfriend was happy with her chicken sandwich but my chicken parm was very very good except the sauce. Really enjoy this restaurant. I must eat there two or three times a week. My favorite item is their calzones, especially the cheese mushroom steak and the Italian. The have great pizza as well with all the usual toppings however I prefer my pizza plain. The owners are a young couple who are very friendly and have done a great job outfitting the place much like a sports pub (they don't serve alcohol). There is a big screen TV and you can watch whatever game is on while you wait for your order to be prepared. They will customize your sub or pizza or calazone to whatever way you like. Give it a try next time you are down their way, especially nice in warmer weather when you can take your order across the street and eat over looking Gloucester Harbor. read more

Glad I made the trip for lunch. Excellent turkey sub and made just the way I ordered it(sometimes that is not the case when you go elsewhere). The place was clean and the person waiting on me was very nice. Dennis was pleasant to speak with as well. Love this place. Huge salads come with home made warm and soft pita bread and I order extra. Sandwiches are above average and I love the wings- probably the best I have had in Gloucester- not too spicy, just enough. They are friendly, polite and delivery is prompt. The positives: fresh bread, nice friendly service. The negatives: Got a grilled chicken sub (it's kind of shredded chicken, not really what I was expecting, but didn't mind that) but the chicken itself was so fatty and grisly that I was spitting every other bite out into a napkin. Nothing worse than fatty cheap grisly chicken (ick). Clean it right or buy a better product. My sub was $8, typical pricing, but I was disappointed based on the quality. Sub roll was great but the sauce soaked it and it feel apart as you ate it making a big mess, plus I had to spit out every other bite, so overall a disappointing dinner. I will go back again and try something different but I'd avoid the chicken. read more

i have been to Poseidon's a good half dozen times and i've finally figured out what bothers me about this place--they totally skimp on their toppings!!! usually, when someone complains about toppings, you figure they just want a lot of food but case in point, i ordered a mushroom pizza and for my $2.00 topping charge, there were TWO piceces of pizza that had no mushrooms on them whatsoever. so for gosh sakes, pony up what probably doesn't cost you more than twenty-five cents, and beef up your toppings! otherwise, the pizza is very good, just not worth the money you pay for it. read more

My husband and I ordered a large BBQ chicken and riccotta calzone, it was by far the BEST calzone we both have ever had!! The mozzerella cheese was oozing out but not in a messy way and the tasty marinara sauce combined with the creamy riccotta was such a great combo. The price was around $13.00 which is a steal for how big it was. I also order there fried dough as much as possible because it's my quilty treat. Over all I am in love with the food at Poseidon's!! Gloucester has so many pizza places and everyone has their favorite. However, I suggest you might want to stray from your usual and try this place. That's what I did after my nephew visiting from out-of-town stopped in there and raved about it. This was one of the best things I ever did! The pizza is the BEST! I order it at least once a week, and every time (yes, every time) it was cooked to perfection... the perfect amount of sauce, the perfect amount of cheese, and not one piece of crust overcooked. The prices are great, and they offer a large cheese pizza for $5 on Mondays (and every day during December) and 2 for $12 on Tuesdays. I drive by there quite often and I've noticed daily sub specials, but I am so hooked on the pizza, I have not as yet tried one. Service is friendly and attentive. I usually order and pick it up, but they do deliver. It may look like a hole-in-the-wall from the outside, but it is a treasured jewel once you walk through the doors! read more

I find it silly that a place having multiple 5 star reviews is so suspicious to some people that it would actually make them avoid a place. But, I am not giving less than 5 stars just to make that guy less paranoid. I have never eaten here before today. I live in Winchester and came to Gloucester to explore the area. Found Poseidon's. Good food, good portions, good prices. Nothing suspicious about that. I asked for the toppings of the linguica bomb on a grinder roll. The guy did it, no problem. It was delicious. My boyfriend got a "samwich" with ranch instead of blue cheese. It was also very good, but be warned: it is spicier than you might expect it to be. overall, it was very good. They had some crunchy homemade chocolate chip cookies. It got one to dip in the coffee I brought in with me. It was good, but the sandwiches were better. I prefer my cookies chewy. The only other thing to note is that there is no public bathroom. Normally, I might take away for this, but it is in a beach area with plenty if other public bathrooms. read more
