Danielle's fresh fusilli and my tomato sauce plus Swiss Chard.

Outstanding pasta, and a great place to find the best Italian food and wine gems. Many of the items come from Gustiamo in the Bronx, a source of superior artisan Italian foods.

Fresh pasta shells from Pastaio via Corta that I served with a homemade walnut pesto.

The best bolognese I've had in years. The halibut special was amazing - a wonderful medley of fall flavors and I would highly recommend. For appetizers, the calamari was great. Two individuals at our table split dishes (tagliatelle and halibut) and our server had them plated on two separate dishes for each person, which made it much easier to share - loved that attention to detail and great service. The restaurant had a great vibe and was super lively. When you are looking for a dinner restaurant in downtown Gloucester, I would highly recommend Tonno!

I wish I had better news for this one but I will say my Nebbiolo wine was superb and I did enjoy the salad. Oh and the ambiance was also quite nice! Overall, this Italian restaurant is no North End, but I heard their head Chef left to open up a nearby restaurant so some locals mentioned the quality went down. I guess we'll see! We wanted to like it here, but after ordering their Chicken Parmigiana and having to send it back because it was overcooked...Mama Mia! My grandmother would be very upset! And don't get me started on the sauce. I mean c'mon how hard can it be. Ugh! The only could thing to come out of this was the service, which was quite impeccable and it was quite busy for a Monday night. I probably would give them another shot if we're ever done here again, but hopefully their Chef knows how to cook by then. We can only hope!

Right off the bat, the prices alone make Short & Main a tough place to recommend. $14 for two meatballs and a slice of bread, $17 for a cocktail, $13 for a mocktail, and $23 for the base Ricardo pizza - plus another $6 for a tiny portion of sausage- felt steep. If pizza is meant to be the star of the restaurant, it should be unforgettable. Instead, it was just... fine. It's hard for me to hone in on the special qualities of any of the food because frankly there wasn't any. Perfectly serviceable, but nowhere near worth the markup.

The dining area is dimly romantically lit. They have a nice bar area for a solo dining experience or for waiting before being seated. I love to have the menu highlighted local oyster Farms, and even listed the farmers for all of their offerings. We started our meal with an order of bread, salad, oysters, and meatballs, and chose the Ricardo pizza for our main course. Dinner concluded with the Basque cheesecake with lemon curd and an espresso. Definitively should have opted for the tiramisu. The oysters were fresh and briney, a highlight of our meal, being so close to the ocean. The rest of the meal was just OK. The Basque cheesecake was a bit bland and probably could not stand by itself, but the lemon curd and they Maldon salt flakes elevated the entire dish. We enjoyed ourselves for dinner and would definitely come again when we're in town next.

It was cool how they had seating at the bar and it's right by the kitchen. Our service was good. Very prompt and polite. Our friends ordered the calamari app and bread. Which the bread does run $4 but so worth it! So fluffy and freshly made. We all ate something seafood related. I definitely thought bigger than my belly. I had the fried fish sandwich with cheddar cheese on brioche bread. Comes with 2 sides: picked the garlic & buttered spinach and a baked potato. The sandwich did have a side of what tasted like their own house made tartar sauce. One of our guests split a cobb salad and another one ordered fish n chips that they all enjoyed.
