Mix of lobster and shrimp ravioli with lobster sauce.
    Jaq D.

We visit York every year and stay at a place with a kitchen. Our neighbor comment how much they like this place so we decided to give it a try. I got the lobster ravioli and the shrimp scampi ravioli and a container of lobster sauce. My only regret is we have never tried this place sooner! I heated the sauce up first and I couldn't stop tasting it. It was like pasta sauce and lobster chowder had a baby. I could literally eat it as a soup. The ravioli cooked up amazing! The pasta is nice and thick (in a good way!). We mix them together and poured the sauce over. Oh. My. Goodness. Seriously probably the best pasta I have ever had. The filling of both were amazing. The shrimp has a nice lemon flavor and the lobster was rich and savory. And the sauce was the perfect compliment. It even had chunks of lobster in it. I highly recommend this place of you have a stove and a pan. 10/10 will eat again!

Here's another store in Kittery that I've been going to for a few years, and I've never had anything from Terra Cotta that I didn't love. They make their own Ravioli stuffed with all kinds of things, pasta, gnocchi, etc. There are a variety of deli-ish salads, and balsamic vinegar that comes in big containers and you refill your own bottle. The only problem I've ever had was that after I took my selection out of their freezer, it felt like it took forever to get rung up because only one person was working. The wait really wasn't bad but I wanted to get the frozen stuff home while it was still frozen, and I had a ten minute drive ahead of me. Now I just tell them what I'm buying and take it out of the freezer after I pay for it. Go here, then cross the street and go to Beach Pea, Golden Harvest, and Carl's. Your shopping is now done and you'll eat like royalty.

Incredibly friendly staff that sounded like they've been running the family business for decades, a bright and comfortable space, and an arcade machine! I highly recommend stopping by for a bite or to grab a snack to take home. My friends and I tried a significant sampling and will definitely be back. Meatball calzone - made fresh in the morning on their homemade bread, this isn't the thick crusty calzone you're thinking of. It's more like a long stick bread, packed with meatballs, sauce and cheese on the inside. They cut one into three for us, and served with a separate cup of marinara dipping sauce each! Lobster Tail pastry and cannoli: fantastic pastries. I've had many of each of these, and DeStefano's had some of the best. The lobster tail was light and incredibly flaky, the cannoli had some crunch without being hard or overly sweet. The chocolate chip cookie also had chunks of butterscotch (?) and was perfectly cooked--I know saying perfectly cooked sounds crazy, but I don't think I've ever had another cookie that nailed the crispy/soft line so well. Can't wait to head back to Portsmouth so I can visit again!

The pizza was warmed up nicely, and Carlson enjoyed his slice. We also ordered an Italian cold cut sandwich, which was fresh, well layered, and very filling. This place is more than just a quick bite, it's a full Italian market and deli. They have a great selection of authentic Italian groceries, cheeses, deli meats, premade sandwiches, and drinks. The prepared food section really stood out: homemade potato salad, chickpea salad, three-bean salad, freshly made mozzarella, stuffed peppers, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, huge meatballs, and more, everything looked delicious and freshly made. There's seating available with a counter and tables, and they also have a bathroom, which is always appreciated when you're out with kids. The atmosphere feels welcoming and family-friendly, and it's easy to pop in for pizza or leave with a full meal plan. One small thing to note is that I didn't notice a handicap-accessible door at the front entrance, though it may be available elsewhere. Overall, a great local market with quality food, lots of variety, and that classic Italian deli feel. Definitely a spot we'd come back to for lunch, take-out, or grabbing specialty items.

And they have the displays to match. On this partly cloudy afternoon, I was in search of lobster tails. Upon requesting them, I discovered two things.. 1.) Unfortunately, the tails offered are not very big. Near as I can figure, they come in packs of 3 of what appear to be around 5 ounces each. 2.) Lobster really IS more affordable if you buy it in Maine. For context, a standard two pack of lobster tails at 5 ounces each (or sometimes 4oz) costs me around $25 in NH at the time of writing this review. The 3 pack of the same size tails costs the same price here at Taylor. So, naturally I bought two of those and ultimately nabbed a little under 2 pounds of lobstah for a mere $50. Sufficed to say - we will most certainly return at a future date. I have my eyes set on the fresh lobster meat next. As mentioned, everything in the glass display looked delicious. The place is easy enough to find. Just be aware their entrance is actually not in the front of the building, but on the right hand side. It's a little confusing at first, especially considering the tiny street view sign doesn't help much. If you drive into the "boat drop off" section, you're on the wrong side. Other items I wouldn't mind trying next visit are their lobster bisque and clam chowder. If you're coming across the border as I do, one pro tip I'd offer is to bring a cooler to keep your produce in for the day as you travel back. We transported the lobstah back in my car on an 85 degree day and the gel ice packs kept everything cold enough not to oxidize. Definitely check this place out for all your fresh seafood needs. The locals have spoken and I agree; Taylor Lobster Company is worth 5 fresh, buttery lobstah tails charred on the grill out of 5.

One prepared so well that you think about it for the rest of the day. From the moment I stepped in until I placed my order, all the staff were so friendly and attentive (not just with me but all the other customers that kept entering the establishment). The lobster rolled was not dressed like what you'd usually find in New England. In fact, it was lightly seasoned and allowed you to taste the sweetness of lobster meat itself and how perfectly cooked it was! You can't hide quality when serving it almost bare like this that it's a purist's dream! Dang, I can't stop thinking about! The shrimp sandwich was another simple culinary delight executed well. Perfectly cooked shrimp, dressed lightly, on a nicely toasted buttered brioche with crisp lettuce and tomatoes. I inhaled this just as quickly with my eyes rolling with every bite. Dang it again. The gluten-free clam chowder was a great way to finish off this quick meal. Perfectly balanced, tasty, salted perfectly, and loaded with chunky clams. What a way to warm up in this NE chilly weather this time of year. Without even trying their other fresh seafood options, they've already made it to my list of must-visits when in the area.
