I take my dogs up to the beaches in Gloucester a lot, at least once every weekend. There are a few good spots to eat up there, but I stopped in to Poseidon's and the place is a hidden jewel. The view is awesome, and since I usually go up on Sundays, it's great to go in a get some food and watch the game. Nice set up inside with the HDTV. I usually grab a slice when I get there cause I'm starving, and I order up a chicken kabob sub, which is probably the best chicken kabob sub I've had. It really is that good. Nothing fancy, just good stuff. The Italian is great too since it gets packed full of deli meats, with just enough oil and vinegar and hots. The prices are really good too, and they usually have some great deals when I go in. I took advantage last weekend and brought home a steak bomb pizza for my wife and for lunch the next day. Delicious, even the next day. So much meat on it that each slice felt like a steak bomb sub. The place is great. The people are friendly and Dennis the owner is a real genuine, nice guy. It's my new favorite spot on Cape Ann. I'm glad I don't live in Gloucester, cause if I did, I'd be 40 lbs overweight. read more

My occupation has me in Gloucester frequently, and Poseidon's is my new go to lunch spot. In fact it was so good, I brought my wife and daughter up the 20 plus miles from my home for dinner on a Saturday night not too long ago to share in the experience. My favorites are a Chicken Kabob Dinner, as well as a grilled chicken sub with feta, grilled onions and lettuce, healthy and satisfying. 100% recommend. read more

The Zeus is a ridiculous sandwich. My only complaint about it is that there was not enough marinara with it. I wish I had ordered a cup of it. We went in and ordered, and the building is hot, and the wait was long, so either order ahead or be prepared to wait. read more

The people who work here are rad. They are always so helpful, friendly and nice. I usually get takeout from here, but as far as the restaurant goes, it's small, has TV, pretty clean. Definitely a little hole-in the wall type plae. I went here last night and had a 12" steak and cheese. I was STARVING. The guys were really nice, and made my sammy really quickly. They toasted my bread perfectly and the sammy was delicious. They have all kinds of pizza (the Buffalo is awesome). I haven't quite made it through the menu, but I am sure I will be going here all summer. And they have soda in the can. I give it 5 stars for good service and being a tasty pizza place. read more

Imagine a perfect summer Friday at 7:00pm. And you need delivery. Call this place. Quick, fresh and good if you like Greek-style New England pizza. Super crispy crinkle cut fries. After getting in to our hotel we opted to order pizza and eat in our room. What a great choice! We had the Poseidon pizza and an Antipasto salad. The salad was lackluster but honestly we were here for the salad anyway. The pizza was excellent! Not super thick with bread and not super thin either. Meats were super tasty! read more

When I first moved to Gloucester this is where my fiancee took me for a slice of Pizza. I loved it. I am sad to say it has been 2 years since that slice but tonight we ordered a Large Greek Salad, and a Small Veggie Calzone. They were super awesome and substituted spinach for the broccoli. IT WAS FABULOUS!!! It was more than enough food for us and out 16 month old who was like a bottomless pit eating the delicious veggies. Next time we will order the small calzone and a small salad. We've been trying a different place every time we get pizza being newer to the area. Very friendly staff and much quicker delivery than expected. Pizza has a really fresh sauce and great flavored sauce as well. They cooked it perfectly which was a bonus because so many places seem to under cook pizza these days. Onion rings are huge, Greek salad was very fresh and buffalo fingers were decent quality. Dressings were also very good and tasted fresh. We will definitely keep them in the rotation! read more

The regular sized calzone is BIG. The large must be HUGE. They make it fresh and the crust part is crispy, which I love because that's usually not the case with calzones! This place has me toggling between giving 2 or 3 stars. I settled on 2 because I can find better here in Gloucester. I do think they have some pretty decent dishes on their menu. I don't often write reviews unless I think I can truly help to sway some pour soul away from making a terrible decision... or help convince them to make a good one. I digress. Poseidon's really shines with their chicken dinners (chicken kabob.. buffalo chicken...etc) or their salads. They give quality feta; romaine lettuce (not iceberg hooray!); chicken is also cooked well. Their homemade pita bread is thick.. doughy.. and delicious. However.. I'd advise you to STAY AWAY from their PIZZA. It's is seriously horrendous. You'd have better luck visiting the frozen pizza section of your local grocery store. Flavorless cardboard crust that's chewy (but not in a pleasant Italian brick oven dough kinda way); flavorless sauce that tastes like it's been frozen or sitting in the fridge for a week (and probably jarred); and very little cheese on the pie (this is probably for the better because their cheese choice is low quality). I haven't been too impressed with the pizza choices here in Gloucester but this is by far the worst I've come across. I'd say stick to Maria's (for quality Italian) or Mikes (for a very cheesy greek/american style pie). read more

They recently changed their pizza crust, very big improvement. Was a decent pizza before but great now, especially on Tuesdays when you can get two large for $12. They're Wednesday wing social is also a great tasty deal. Pretty good subs, employees are friendly, and always a clean setting when you go in. Free delivery is an added bonus as well. read more

One of my favorite go-to places for lunch in Gloucester. I haven't had the pizza, but the sandwiches are GREAT. Grab lunch here and go across the street and eat directly on the harborfront or go around the corner and eat on the Annisquam River. Prices are good. No bathroom or washroom facilities. Good service, nice people. UPDATE: Had the pizza, it's great. Great sauce. Not too sweet, but a bit, which is what I like. Very nice people there! read more

I was in Gloucester with my friend who was visiting from Philadelphia - we stopped into this place and I was very pleased with the experience (especially for a pizza shop!). We had one of the specialty pizzas - the buffalo chicken. It was great fresh and we had it for lunch the next two days...it definitely held up to reheating. My friend had the chicken kabob grinder and loved it. I had a salad and was impressed with the crispness and freshness of the veggies and the guy behind the counter let me do some customizing. It was delicious. I also had to try the regular cheese pizza so I had a slice and it was SO GOOD. The sauce stood out. read more

I must say I have eaten with my wife at Poseidons a few times now since I saw the name change and heard it had a new owner. I have had the privilege of meeting the new owner Dennis and think he is a real class act. He makes great food and tries to make sure everyone is 100% satisfied in his food in which he takes great pride in preparing. The pizza is excellent. The sauce is definitely awesome and different from all the sauces in Gloucester that all tast the same. I have found my new spot in Gloucester and am very happy. The restaurant looks great with the TV as well so when I'm not with my wife I can go in there and eat and catch some of the game as well as look out in to the ocean. Gotta love Poseidon's... a fun lil local take out joint place here in Gloucester... Poseidon's is one of my fave's for that.. . I love their grilled chicken kabob dinners... and their Italian subs and pizza are great too. Only one disappointment was when I tried that one time are their meatball subs. Heard that when the mother ran it there that then that's when their meatballs subs were the best there. but otherwise 5 stars all the way. Hope they flourish with business and keep it going. They're in a great busy spot too. There are usually 2 really wicked super friendly guys that work there... . once in awhile a girl that works there too with them. I never see more then 3 there at a time. I'm really wishing them luck for great business. read more

Arguably the best take out place in the city. Pizza, subs, wings, dinners, it's all there. The staff is unbelievably friendly and nice to everyone that comes in. They're prompt and make sure your experience is awesome. The food is amazing. Pizza is among the best in the city with regular classics as well as great specialty pizza. I recommend the meat combo, while these are typically heavy pizzas... the meat combo here manages to go down well and tastes amazing. Subs are awesome, using great local bread for their rolls you can't go wrong with anything you get. I recommend getting out of your comfort zone and getting some of their specialty subs, they're terrific. If there's anything to complain about, it's hot in there. Especially in the summer so you're better off getting take out or delivery. Plus, being right by the cut bridge does not always help if you're in a hurry so make some time to get down there. But they take the hot thing in stride(check out their shirts if you don't believe me). Dollar for dollar a great choice for awesome take out. read more
