Burger and onion rings
Randa U.

Your classic style Portillo's is the one in Rolling Meadows. With it being a national company, the opted in to also have self ordering kiosks, but thankfully they still have cashiers! I love going to Portillos for their burgers. That's right, not only do they do a great Chicago dog and Beef, they have fantastic burgers. Normally their burgers are more rounded but this one seemed to be a bit smashed. I enjoyed every bite of my hamburger with everything on it. You could get the $9.99 burger meal deal, but I upgraded to a large onion ring instead of fries, and it didn't disappoint. We also tried their giardiniera dip. This was a surprise because it's a new side sauce that Portillos is offering. It's also a first. I've never seen a giardiniera dip/sauce. It was served cold, which was a little off, we expected it to be warmer. Overall, you can get a great meal to go or seated inside. This particular location is always busy and is always on point with their great service.

We knew this was a pretty well-known local spot, so we had to give it a try. We ordered the Chicago-style hot dog and the Italian sausage combo, and surprisingly they also had cake shakes, so we got the strawberry lemon cake shake as well. The Italian sausage combo was fire, especially the sausage itself, which was juicy, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. The Chicago hot dog was also surprisingly good. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a hot dog with no ketchup, but lowkey, I really liked it. The cake shake was another surprise. Drinking what basically tastes like a slice of cake was definitely an interesting experience, but somehow it worked and was actually really enjoyable. Service was quick, and the whole place had that classic casual local vibe. Overall, we liked it a lot and can definitely see why this place is so popular.

Italian Beef Sandwich

4 stars for Portillo's overall. This is a nice location in Rolling Meadows next to a big Walmart. Portillo's is just your average Chicago area chain restaurant with Italian Beef's/Burgers/Hot Dogs/etc. I had the Italian Beef Sandwich juicy with hot peppers, it was good but certainly not as good as a mom and pop Italian beef restaurant. If you need something quick and easy and somewhat Chicago style, stop by Portillo's. Also, download their app - you can earn free food/discounts.

Italian Beef & Sausage Combo w/ sweet peppers

Classic Portillo's, good food, atmosphere. Had the Beef/Sausage Combo, thought the sausage was a little dry, first time for one of those. Should maybe have gotten some beef gravy added. Beef flavor great as always but a little dry too. Had fries and onion rings too. I really like their crinkle fries. Service was prompt.

Chocolate cake

Desserts amazing but chocolate cake slice definitely smaller than in my past experience. Burger was charred too much for me . Cheese fries were good

Love the neon signage walking into the restaurant.

Nothing hits like a real Chicago dog from a Chicago legend. The hot Italian beef with sweet & hot peppers was also . We loved the vintage diner decor as well. Of course there's a choice of kiosk ordering or the counter with a real human, so that's up to you. Great experience while in town!

Ordered a large and this is what was in the bag..

This is how they're selling large fries these days.. yall need to do better charging people out the ass and then giving half an order.

that's a plain HOT DOG and CHEESE FRIES in the carrrrrr

There's not a ton of foods I miss from Chicago...but Portillo's is one of them. And it's not even about the Italian beef or the mayo Chocolate Cake we all like to talk about. Not even the cheese fries or the aforementioned chocolate cake shoved & grinded into a creamy shake. Not even the unreplicable chopped salad. I mean, I love all those things. But what I crave here are their good freaking hot dogs. On my last trip home, my friend and I got hot dogs, cheese fries and ate like monsters in the car together. It was grand. At this location, as with all locations, there will be a line. The wait at Portillo's is similar to the wait I do now at In N Out in LA. You drive up, might pull down the block even to wait, but you wait for the drive thru until the staff takes your order. The staff is so friendly and the line moves pretty fast! Now back to the hot dog, nothing beats the Vienna Beef hot dogs they have at Portillo's. I could pretend I was a good Chicagoan for you and that I get my hot dog with mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers. However that is horrifying to me and I get my hot dog completely plain, just dog on slightly steamed poppy seed bun. It's so freaking good and why can I not find it in LA?! Curses! However, because I cannot, I will continue to patronize Portillo's when I roll back through town.

Location looks quite different than the average Portillos has a 1950-60 era to it. Food is typical Portillos place is clean and I never ordered from a kiosk at Portillos so that was interesting to do .

While I have been visiting Portillo's all over Illinois and Indiana for at least the last 18 years, this was my first visit to the Portillo's location in rolling Meadows. This place is a flashback in time and literally looks like a 1950s diner and it's absolutely incredible to see the decor and how well-maintained. The place happens to be. It is absolutely nostalgic. Of course this is Portillo's and so they have the standard menu, especially since the sale of the company. However, the quality is still there the speed and the great customer service. This is worth the visit.

Single cheeseburger

I don't know what happened here but today was the day I don't give them another dollar. Burger meat was burnt but so cold the cheese didn't melt. I had to microwave it when I got back to work and just tasteless. I did the drive thru

Nice signage

Everything was great here. Service was great, food was delicious and ambience is casual and very nice. I enjoy visiting the different establishments because each one is unique and different. This is my second best favorite location and I have been to many. I can't wait until Katy, Texas gets theirs up and running but they need one on I-10 going towards the Eastside of Houston, preferably in the NorthShore and Woodforest area. I will definitely come back to this one when I'm in town. My only complaint is that they don't put enough hot peppers on it even though they charge you for them. Today I enjoyed the big beef and fries.

The Leo and Hot Dog

Tried the new "the Leo" sandwich. They rebranded their Italian Beef. Its the same thing. Also had to get a Chicago dog.

The aroma alone makes The Chef Grill the champion of Turkish and Mediterranean grilled cuisine. If…read moreI could bottle it, I'd put a little dabby on my neck every night before bed, and then dream I'm prancing through kebab fields in a tutu. This is a happening place. They decorated it with hanging plants, some art, a fish tank. A slight haze of smoke. Desserts on display. I'd say the finest work of art here are the prepped skewers, waiting to be thrown on their charcoal grill. My gaze was fixed on the meat display as if I was Cookie Monster at Crumbl. I composed myself and took a seat. They have great hot and cold appetizers. They have breakfast! Check out their menu, I've included a pic. Lahmacun is a crunchy brick oven flatbread with ground meat. It feels so light, airy, and crunchy, you could eat the whole thing and later say "..um, I ate the whole thing". We ordered a few King Chef's mixed grill platters. It is a medley of filet morsels, chicken, lamb chops, shawarma, shish kebab, and many other things, along with bulgar and fries. Why are their fries so good? Okay, so I know we're just talking about lemonade, but their house made lemonade is so good. We also loved their tea. We went way overboard on desserts. We just kept pointing at sharable items like John Travolta to the Bee Gees. All of the desserts were delicious. For some reason, the simplest of them, rice pudding, won the dessert battle that day. They have plenty of intriguing items that will lure me back, and I'm looking forward to it!

My group wasn't checked in on unless we stared down at the staff. The food did make up for the slow service though. I went with the staffs recommendation and tried the Adana kebab. I can completely understand why this dish is a customer favorite. It was juicy and very flavorful. Pricing is on the higher side when compared to the portion, however, the quality is there.

I never would have found this place if a friend hadn't told me about it, since it's located in an…read moreindustrial area. Honestly, I expected something completely different--more of a quick, casual spot where people stop by for a fast bite. Instead, this place is the complete opposite! It's stylish, cute, and feels like a little hidden flower in the middle of the desert. We were a group of four, and I ordered the Seoul Flame Beef Bowl. It was absolutely delicious! Everyone else ordered something different, and they were all very happy with their meals as well. For desserts they said they were little dry, but in general- tasty! The service was excellent too! Everything was quick, smooth, and easy. We had a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place!

Meh...... That's my overall experience at this café/eatery…read more I was intrigued because many of the workers there, and even some of the patrons look like they were from Kazakhstan. So I thought it was an ethnic cuisine, but the menu had interesting Asian fusion/American food. I had a pasta dish, which really was MEH. The beef was not tender, but a bit rough. However, the flavor of the pasta was nice. It was mainly noodles, and a sprinkle of beef and red bell pepper and mushrooms. The odd thing was their presentation - the pasta was purposely filling only half of the plate. It almost looked like it was missing something on the other half, but I was told that that's their present presentation of this pasta dish. My recommendation to them is that they should at least put some sort of garnish on the other half or some sort of decorative sauce to give the customer sense of artistry in the presentation, but it simply look like they were skimping on the portions and it was missing some sort of side dish. The ambience was nice and clean. And the service was pleasant. The pricing was moderate on some dishes and overpriced on others. Apparently, they just opened up in 2025, yet they still have this big banner "Now open" sign on the window.

The outdoor patio overlooking the golf course is absolutely beautiful--relaxing, scenic, and the kind of place that makes you feel like you're on vacation. Even on a busy Thursday evening, the atmosphere was lively without ever feeling hectic. Our server, Jordyn, was outstanding. She looked young, but don't let that fool you--she was completely on top of everything. We were a party of six that couldn't decide what we wanted, laughed way too loudly, and probably tested her patience more than once. She handled us with grace, humor, and a smile the entire time. Somewhere along the way we started calling her "Wednesday" from The Addams Family, and she rolled with it perfectly. Great sense of humor and fantastic service. The food was excellent. The Crispy Eggplant Salad was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and easily large enough to share between two people. The burger was cooked perfectly, the cocktails were outstanding, and everything arrived promptly. The bar staff also deserve a shout-out. They were welcoming from the moment we arrived, made great eye contact, acknowledged everyone immediately, and had drinks in our hands in no time. That's the kind of hospitality that makes people want to come back. Fox & Turtle has the rare combination of great food, attentive service, excellent drinks, and a beautiful setting. It's the kind of place you expect to find inside an exclusive club, yet thankfully it's open for everyone to enjoy. We'll definitely be back.
