NO WAY... I ordered a sandwich and I asked if they had pickles and the manager said yes. I thanked her and then I saw I had to pay $1 which she added and did not tell me, for two of the smallest and skinniest pickles. The food was crap and the service from the employees seem like they are very unhappy and not friendly. Also why do they wear gloves when they are touching everything not clean like doors and grabbing stuff from the back and then not changing gloves before touch our food. BIG THUMBS DOWN

    Grilling burgers!

Not sure why I haven't been here before, driven by many times, and am now sad this hasn't been one of my regular burger stops. These oversized hand-pattied burgers are started on the char-grill and finished with a light smash on the flat top. Cooked to order. Cooked to your specifications. I went with the bacon/cheese, which is also topped with jalapenos, bbq sauce and thick onion rings. The toasted brioche bun is bakery soft, but still substantial enough to comfortably hold the heft of the sandwich. The meat on it's own has a superb beef taste, and I watched the cooks diligently checking the temps of the patty to make sure it came up to standards. The fries? Superb. Fresh cut, fried until crispy, properly seasoned. I get so bummed going to a restaurant that uses extruded fries, that mashed potato slurry in the shape of a fry doused with secret seasoning. I know they're inexpensive for the operator and fry fast, but come on! These babies taste like potatoes! Have the texture of potatoes! Because they are potatoes! I WILL be back, and I am eager to try other menu items, including their breakfasts! The restaurant is on Alqonquin Road/62, just across Roselle from Harper College. Attached to the BP gas station. Go. Enjoy.

Sitting outside for lunch in December? Heck yeah! These are 6+ napkin burgers, not even kidding! The cheeseburgers we ate were so juicy, tender and thick. I just wish I would have ordered mine medium though because the medium rare was a little too much on the rare side for me. The burger style reminded me of Wise Guys or Meatheads, but juicier. The French fries were hot and crispy natural cut fries and salted just right. The burgers are on very soft and fresh buns too, like a brioche roll. It's a Convenient stop because it is connected to a gas station and convenient store and on the corner of Algonquin and Roselle roads. Easy in and out of the parking. The place looks clean and spacious inside and they were fairly busy around lunch time on a Monday. We ate outside at a table on the patio. I appreciated the digital soda pop machine was well stocked too. I've seen these machines at other restaurants but they always seem to be out of order or have limited drinks available. Very friendly staff here and fast service.

I went here for the first time thanks to Yelp and I ordered the bacon and cheddar burger (without the bbq sauce and jalapeños). The burger was very good, A large portion and reasonably priced but overcooked (I would order medium rare next time I usually do instead of medium). The fries were fresh and delicious. The mushroom burger was good as well. The ambiance is nice and well maintained but is inside the gas station and near a very busy corner of Algonquin and Roselle Road. The cashier was attentive and I liked the music. I give this place 3.5 stars.

You wouldn't think of a great burger joint being in a gas station, but it's a great high-profile location if you think of it, where else to go when you need to refuel? At the corner of Roselle and Algonquin, the Urban Counter sits at the end of a bp gas station Pride convenience store, it's an open format with plenty of seating for up to say 50 folks in tables, bar counter and booth seating. It was kind of busy during the lunch rush, and I think people in the area already know about the secret burger place known as urban counter. (I wonder if they have a secret menu...) The format is quite simple, griddle burgers done to order. I had the bacon burger which was completely loaded with BBQ sauce cheddar and jalapeno spread. It's exactly what I look for when I want a burger, savory and messy - AND HUGE!. The tots were better than the fries as they had good crunch. And you have your choice of fountain drink as well with the coke Freestyle machine (within the usual convenience store side of the restaurant). I saw another customer order chicken tenders, the pieces looked huge and delicious! But I have no idea how that guy was able to finish a huge burger and the tenders. I think the value is great. Think of this...a made to order, thick half lb burger, with great combinations, toasted brioche bun, thick thick cut bacon, BBQ sauce, onion ring. Urban Counter has made it a destination for me for burgers. It does take time for the food to cook since the patty is so huge and the toppings are complex. The value can't be beat with a burger, tots, and drink for under $10!.

Thank you, Yelp, for bringing this to the forefront. Had no idea this great burger joint was at this intersection. I really love their Glazed Burger! Oozing with cheese and Korean bbq sauce. Plus one: mushroom burger. Yum! We will both return. Take your 20oz cup to the Coca-Cola freestyle machine and full up with your flavor choice. I chose one of the three Holiday flavors. Their fries stay hot the entire time you are eating your lunch. That's nice! Customers sitting around us are ordering their shakes. I'm stuffed but will come back and try a milkshake. Yes it's inside a gas station. But who knew such a fine burger joint could be hiding inside? Now you know.

Horrible service and they over charge. I paid on the kiosk and they said kiosk forgot to charge me items on my receipt. Food wasn't great overall not a great experience. Last time eating here

Great spot if you're craving a burger and fries! This location is actually connected to the gas station so there is limited seating. Didn't know this place was here but the burgers are made fresh right in front of you!

Wow, the burgers are amazing! It's juicy and thick! Better value than other burger chains that I've been to! They made your burger when you order so it's really fresh. Had perfect saltiness and very juicy! I definitely would go back and order other burgers and the prices is right! I had the bacon burger and cooked medium rare! It was cooked to perfection!

I recently discovered Urban Counter, in the BP Gas Station at Roselle and Algonquin, across from Harper College. I have now had 3 great sandwich, burger meals here. Awesome shakes. Clean, super friendly, nice place. Plenty of parking.

What an interesting concept for a burger, right inside a gas station. They do this in the south with like bbq joints but rarely do I see this up here. We came just before lunch time and ordered burger, tater tots and a drink. The burgers are made to order so it took awhile as there were a few orders ahead of us. Overall a huge patty, I want to say half a pound. Not much for seasoning in it though. The brioche bun was nice especially for a gas station burger place. Solid burger and size especially for the price too.

One burger was made with 2 top buns, one with 2 bottom buns. Different sauces so couldn't just swap.

Going to upgrade to 4 stars. Tried this place a 2nd time. Ordered breakfast for 4 people. 3 croissant sandwiches and one burrito. Also ordered some tots and fries. I live close by, and, food was delivered hot. Everything was good. Wife wasn't a huge fan of her turkey sausage. I thought their normal sausage was good; although, a little bland. I added some Starbucks sriracha sauce, and, very good. I like that it is real food, at least more real than big chain fast food places. I'm sure we'll try more of their offerings in time.

    Ruben sandwich.

Went here for the first time and was very happy with the service and food. They have a good veriaty of food. We got turkey sandwich and the Ruben. They both could have had more meat but the taste of the sandwiches were great. We also got cheese fries and was happily surprised to find out the cheese sauce was jalapeno cheese. We will be back.

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.

Chappie's was a random pick for us to go have brunch at while we were in the Palatine area. Chappie's had been on my list of brunch restaurants to check out. When we got to the restaurant it was peak lunch time and the restaurant was almost 3/4 full. We got seated promptly. We took our time to look at their menu and decide as they had a good menu variety. We ordered drinks in the meantime. I got a regular coffee and a Chappieccino (cappuccino w/ Chappie's face, Chappie being their family dog, a Corgie). We ordered a Bacado Omelet w/ a side of pumpkin spice pancakes instead of regular pancakes and hashbrowns, a Huevos Rancheros, and a special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 Sausage links (instead of bacon). I had the Bacado Omelet which had bacon, avocado, scallions, cheese, and I asked for chopped jalapeños which did not have an up charge. The omelet was good. I liked the way it was cooked. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. They were exactly the way I like them, crispy and soft. They also have me a fried green chili pepper (Chile Toreado) on the side which added a nice spicy taste. The specialty pumpkin spice pancakes with pumpkin puree whipped cream was really delicious. I loved its taste. The Huevos Rancheros was the best dish at the table. It was perfectly cooked with two fried corn tortillas, eggs over easy, fried beans, red salsa, and cheese. It tasted great. I liked it more than my dish. The special of 2 Eggs x 2 Pancakes x 2 sausage links was tasty as well. We had a good experience and would go back. Definitely recommended. Check it out.

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient.
