You know, we'd not been to a Raising Cane's in years. Not remembering exactly why, we decided to…read moregive it another shot! We did did the All-American thing - we hit up the drive-thru! Now I can't speak to ambiance- all I've got to go on is the service when ordering and getting the food- now that that's clear let's start! We ordered the Caniac Combo and asked if they had lemonade as we didn't see it on the menu board- why,yes indeed, they did! They repeated the order and asked if that was all- a quick moment later I said - let's add a side of Texas Toast, fries, and a coleslaw. For some reason when we got to the window they thought we'd canceled the Caniac Combo and wanted the sides! No No no. Why go to a chicken place if we didn't want the chicken? So add back the Caniac Combo please! Then they asked if we still wanted the three sides still? Ummmm ....yes? We ordered the sides so we could split the tenders in the Caniac and both of us would get sides. Seemed kinda clear to me? Needless to say they almost forgot to give us the lemonade at the window- and had to be reminded. I think they weren't paying much attention. Sad. We got home, split up the food, and began eating. The chicken was just ok and needed to be reheated - the fries were cold (!) and had to be popped into the microwave too - really! Taters usually stay hot a long time. Not these. Hoo boy. Once reheated they were ok. The coleslaw doesn't hold a candle to KFCs but it was serviceable. So that explains why it had been years since our last visit. Hmm. Another five years from now we'll try again. But hopefully they focus on the food being hot and fresh and improve the customer experience- else they'll deserve to decline and die off.

The ambiance was nice because it's current music (Post Malone etc) I really like the layout, not the traditional square kitchen area but off at an angle, which makes me relax because I get anxiety easily from strict structures or overcrowded merchandizing and tables. I also really like the choice and seating, and the vibes. Chicken 4 stars. I'd give it a 5 if it were 20 seconds more in the fryer. I like it really crispy. Fried 4 stars. Good crinkle cut. I'd like to see more options for sauce. Was looking for a tasty bbq sauce. Something. If you do have it, it wasn't offered. Texas toast. My son gives it a five and ate mine too. :) He says, "this place is better than chin-fil-A."

The food definitely stands out in terms of quality. It is most comparable to places like Canes , with the chicken/fries/toast combo. However they excel in comparison with their dirty sodas and other food offerings. The fries, cheese curds and Texas toast are all delicious snack options. Everything comes out hot and cooked to order. The portions are a good size and it all tastes fresh. The dirty sodas were a fun thing to try out. During my visits, I tried the "Toasty Marshmallow" (Mr Pibb) and the "Float On" (Barqs) . Both are sweet combinations and are fun treats. There's a lot here that makes them stand out from most fast-casual places and overall provide a quality dining experience.

But I did sit in line for 10-15 minutes. -I ordered an Italian beef with sweet peppers, which is one of their signature items. It's a big sandwich! Lots of beef, and the peppers are amazing... -I also ordered fries, which are pretty good. They don't have any outstanding characteristics. They are crinkle cut style--solid. -To top it all off, I ordered a chocolate cake shake. It's essentially a chocolate shake with chocolate cake inside. You have to see it to believe it! Non-native Review:…read more Busy sandwich & fast food Chicago institution. We were taken here by natives who say the joint is famous for their Chicago beef & hoagie sandwiches. The interior of this location is decorated pretty cool with old movies posters hanging from the rafters. Hungry 4 of us (3 non-locals) ordered a good sampling for our first visit & meal of the day: Salads, hot dogs, hoagie combos, drinks. Either the cashier or food preppers goofed our order a bit, but it wasn't a terrible inconvenience. One newby in our party aptly remarked that the meal combos aren't really combos per se, because you then have to specify the size of the individual combo items (such as the fries) after ordering the large (or small) combo for example. Salads also come out from a different sub-section of the restaurant. Little non-standard and confusing there for 1st-timers. The beef dip was good as advertised, pretty standard fare, but nothing about the meal or quality of such considered life changing. French fries were very unremarkable. Easy ordering kiosks or you can order at the counter like we did. With so many dog-gone dining options around these parts, not sure it would be a regular pit stop for myself if I were a local. Fair pricing board, good deal, average-y. Peace out.

Since it was our first time, we weren't really sure how or what to order so that's what we went with. The second time, we each made our own bowls. After we sat down, we tried what everyone ordered. Everything was very good. Bowl building seems to be the in thing right now with BIBIBOP and Cava and Naf Naf. I'm here for it. I also love the complementary miso soup... it's really good. I ordered a small bowl, I wanted a kids bowl but he said they were for kids. The tables were a little sticky as was the drink area but nothing a wet napkin couldn't fix.

So on an early morning we figured to try the chicken, egg & cheese honey biscuits. The chicken honey biscuit was a breaded breast piece and pretty good. The egg & cheese was ok too. The biscuits aren't made inhouse. We didn't like the potatoes as they weren't like hash browns but spiced potato wedges. Any other time of day I'd like those but they are too heavy for breakfast. Once the special is off the breakfast biscuits are around $6 each.
