The fries, cheese curds and Texas toast are all delicious snack options. Everything comes out hot and cooked to order. The portions are a good size and it all tastes fresh. The value here is great both in terms of quantity of food, and overall pricing. The ice cream that changes monthly provides a fun way to customize a periodic visit. While I'm not crazy about the texture and flavor of it, it's still an enjoyable dessert -- particularly on a warm day. The sides such as fried cheese curds and spicy fries are different. The dirty soda options also provide a ton of possibilities for social media posts and different flavor options on each visit. Service is not too slow for how busy the restaurant is, and parking isn't too difficult. The food is very good here, both in terms of flavor and texture -- and generously portioned as well. The tenders rival the best versions I've had from other dedicated chicken restaurants. Picked up something from ikea in Schaumburg and stopped for lunch. You order at a kiosk which I'm never a big fan of but we were able to just barely beat a huge wave of people so were able to get food quickly and grab a good table. At the urging of my brother and sister-in-law, my husband and I went to Minnie Bird with them. This reminded me of Raising Cane's only with many more options. We ordered the three wrap combo and the honey glazed tender combo. For sides, we had the crinkle cut fries and cheese curds. The chicken was good and the flavors that in came in added variety to the meal. The crinkle cut fries and cheese curds were familiar yet exciting. You get a soft serve cone with your meal. You can choose from vanilla or the flavor of the month. This month's flavor was mint for March. It was ok but shouldn't be the sole reason for coming to Minnie Bird. I have been here a few times, but the last time with friends, the food was even better than I remember! We were catching up before the full calendar holiday season and no one said a word to us as we chatted away for almost four hours. (No one was going without a seat, otherwise we would have relocated!) There are few places where the price includes the entree, the sides, an unlimited fountain drink, AND a little sweet treat. The upgrade to cheese curds to share is always recommended. The sweet person at the ice cream station let me eat both vanilla AND pecan praline after she heard me pass because I am allergic to pecans. She informed me there are actually no pecans in the flavor and saw the instant regret on my face for assuming it did and put some in a cup for me to try in addition to the cone of vanilla WITH SPRINKLES (!) that I was holding. I do wish the restaurant space was bigger and wasn't surrounded by not one, but two doors that open in these Midwestern winters, but that won't stop me. If you've ever wondered "how long will Mark drive for a chicken sandwich?" The answer is "at least an hour." After seeing Minnie Bird on social media, it instantly made its way on my virtually endless "to try" list. Yesterday, I finally made the trek out. Was it worth it? Absolutely! In fact, I'd be lying if I wasn't low key considering returning today. I ordered a Minnies Fried Chicken Sandwich Combo (Hot) and a Caramel Cake Skinnie Minnie Dorty Soda. The sandwich was excellent! I was tender on the inside, has a crisp exterior without the feeling of chewing on rocks, and the sweet to heat ratio was spot on! Now, while I do plan on asking for extra pickle chips moving forward, while devouring this glorious thing I didn't necessarily feel they were missing. Bonus points for the sando staying together well, despite a liquid honey glaze. The combo also came with fries, ordered as crinkle cut. These were both cooked and seasoned to perfection. What made them even better is the Minnie Bird has lots of different sauce/condiments/dips. Diehard fans of my blabbering will know how much I love going ham on sauces. I didn't even touch the ketchup! The dirty soda was great! First things first, I love that they have sugar-free oprions for those who want to watch their sugar intake. The Caramel Cake was a delicious and superbly balanced blend of Diet Coke + SF Caramel + Cream. Definitely a winner! As a cherry on top (pun intended), you're also entitled to a free ice cream cone with purchase of a combo or sandwich, IIRC. Alas, it does not come with a cherry on top. However, the regular fountain soda had good carbonation and the strawberry lemonade was loved by our 3 year old. He loves tart lemonade so this was perfect!! But the bottom tasted like watered down Fanta and the top tasted like cream, and mixed together it didn't taste much of anything. The sandwich itself was huge, you get all of the chicken breast, with the coleslaw and Minnie sauce. It was super juicy and full of flavor. The cheese curds were my favorite, it's been a while since I've had cheese curds that I actually enjoyed that wasn't too breaded, I didn't even need ranch sauce to dip it with. Which by the way if you wanted all the sauce, they had a whole counter of sauces for you to pick from. I opted to try everything as is for this go around and I was really happy. My fiancé got the hot honey pimento chicken sandwich. They did not hold back on the toppings! He really enjoyed the sweet honey mixed with the heat from the peppers. The chicken is lightly breaded for all dishes but is juicy and seasoned well. We tried out the Minnie Sauce, Dippin Sauce, and Buttermilk Ranch. My favorite was the Minnie Sauce and his was the Dippin Sauce as it had a smokey/chipotle taste. All entrees come with a complimentary cone or bowl of ice cream. Really unique, cool business model. On top of the chicken and dirty sodas being GREAT, the offer of free ice cream is really captivating. Seems it changes monthly. I went to Utah earlier this year, so when a dirty soda shop showed up in the Chicago area, I knew I needed to go! I got a Hawaiian and my husband got the spicy mango one. They're both sprite based, but I was surprised they were both clear... I expected the flavoring to make it colorful! That might have been my expectation skewing it, but I was a little disappointed! Had to try this new place especially since they have free ice cream- disclaimer : you must buy a combo or sandwich to get it! The chicken sandwich was good but a bit too overpowering. I love spicy but with flavor and this was more vinegar tasting like Tabasco. The slaw, pickles and sauce were fantastic. We did try a dirty soda but they were out of a lot of the sugar free options- fortunately a young woman behind the counter was nice enough to tell us what there was a custom made out drink- 5 stars for going above and beyond! Here's why I bumped it a star down - the sink water taste on the ice and ice cream is gross. This is most likely not their doing but the city of Schaumburg! Tried this place yesterday, definitely a good experience. I had the Heat Pimento Honey chicken sandwich, extra hot. Wife got tenders. We each got a Dirty Soda. My sandwich was fantastic, wife's tenders were very good. Fries were fresh and tasty. The $3 upcharge for a Dirty Soda is a bit much but the selection of flavors was impressive. The free soft serve cone was a nice touch. It's not exactly cheap, but it's worth the price. I'll be back for more but I'll save the $3 on the soda. read more
