I arrived at Out Cold on a Sunday early evening. Placing my order was easy, and I didn't wait long. Service was prompt and friendly, Although I'm not a huge fan of the smash style burger, this one may be the best one I have tasted. I had the Double Smash burger and the Knockout fries. The meat was tasty and ample. I loved the toppings and sauce as well. If you order the knockout fries, keep in mind there is easily enough there for two people. I found them unique and delicious. The location is a little tricky - they are in the far southeastern corner of the plaza, facing the side street. I recommend them and would not hesitate to return here.

Was excited to finally try this spot out. It's best to order ahead of you can cause the wait can be a bit long depending how busy they are. I ordered the single patty with everything besides pickles and Cajun fries. It's simple but so delicious. The sauce is bomb in my opinion. I love the diced up onion. The patty is thin and has good flavor. Next time, definitely ordering a double and trying their out cold special fries. Definitely worth checking out!!

If you like a messy, moist smashburger with a lot of flavor, this is the place for you. My double burger was crisp on the edge and generous with toppings, but I asked for sauce on the side. I waited less than 10 minutes for two doubles and an order of fries. I like my fries crispy and small, almost shoestring-like, but my husband does not. He was looking for a longer, softer French fry but our bag did not have them. (More fries for me)! Reasonably priced meal for two doubles and one order or fries, sauce on the side. Not a bad meal for around $22, but i don't think my hubby would return. As others shared, it is more of a takeout place and I would come back just for the fries alone!

Out Cold is a new Halal Smashburger spot that just opened in the Schaumburg area a week ago. They are more of a takeout food spot but do have some counters with bar stools to eat at. I loved the graphics found on the menu board and light up sign inside that aligns with the branding. The inside was extremely clean and staff were very friendly. I visited right when they opened at 4pm so I did not experience a line like some have. Upon entry, I was immediately welcomed by staff. I love that they have a refined menu so one isn't overwhelmed with options. I ordered the Double Smashburger (everything but onions) with a side of regular fries. Everything is made fresh to order which always makes it taste that much better. They are still in their "soft opening" stage so be patient because the food is worth it! I personally loved the taste of the burger: soft/buttery bun, good meat to topping ratio, loved the knockout sauce. The fries were fresh and crispy. They offered ketchup packets for the fries as well. The two owners both came out to ask how I liked my food which added a special, intimate touch. They care and want to do well. Overall, this is a great spot! I'm happy a new burger place that is small business joined our area; we needed it! I will certainly be back to order again and want to try the Knockout Fries! Give Out Cold a try because their food will not disappoint!

I genuinely don't know where to start. Not only are the employees/owners the nicest people, they are also incredibly helpful and friendly! The food is out of this world and I look forward to these cheat meals every time I go. I can taste the freshness not some goy slop McDonald's. This is real food and incredible ingredients. Other than the people and food being amazing, the vibe of this place is awesome!! I love the color way and old skool burger joint. In a way I want to keep this place niche but everyone needs to know about OUTCOLDDDD

Ask the Community - Out Cold

    What is the knockout sauce?

It is similar to Thousand Island dressing. Kind of reminded me of the sauce on a Big Mac, but with a better taste. It's good on the fries too.

I assumed the food was going to be good. And it was, I was burgered out at the time so I got their Mac & cheese while my hubby got one of their burgers. I did indeed taste his food, burger was delicious. My Mac & cheese wasn't bad either. It could have used either a lil more cheese or just a lil more seasoning but it was as good as expected

Was out with Wife doing errands, she mentioned a penchant for a burger. I took a quick reconnoiter…read moreon Yelp and saw Kuma's here. If you read my Yelp on the original location, you'll learn I was quite impressed with the unique qualities of the bread and circuses therein. THIS store, however, is not a funky old Chitown corner tavern, repurposed into a brilliant resto as the original is. It has the appearance and feel of a corporate outpost with NONE of the intrinsic vibe and atmosphere of the paternal iteration. It's a big room, with an enclosed "patio" that had even less charm. One of the great things about the original is the non-exclusive yet cordial service, hinting at rough trade, yet somehow I believe this is a manufactured behavior, for fun. Kind of like if Ed Debevic was a hardcore outlaw biker. (IYKYK). The servers here were kind of cheerless, and aloof. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was yum. A wedge salad was next, and that too, was pretty tasty. So I started to think, "Ok this isn't the original Kuma's, but the Schaumburg audience is going to be a bit different than the Northside Hipsters". When you're aware of circumstances, attitudes change. Wife played it safe, eschewing all the ooga-booga burgers of the menu and just going for a regular burger, ketchup, mayo, tomato, onions, no cheese please. Cooked medium. I, however, remembered seeing someone on TeeVee having a "Plague Bringer" supposedly redolent of Garlic and fiercely chilli'ed. Right up my alley! I bid the Waitron to bring it with all speed. The burgers appeared shortly. Wife noticed the tomato on her plate had an unsavory black & grey area in its innards. obviously rotten. How the expediter ever let that get out of the Kitchen, I dont know. It was sent back an returned with an excuse it was a bit of olive that got mixed up with the tomato. I immediately checked the menu to see if they OFFERED anything, anywhere with black olives, and there wasn't anything there. I asked the same of the Waitron, and got the same answer. As wife didn't put the tomato on her burger, it was shuffled to the side. Wife said the burger was nothing special, And neither was my "PlagueBringer". The expected Garlic onslaught was nowhere to be found, neither was the anticipated chilli pepper sting. All I could taste were the french fried onions (the same ones you find on greenie beanie casseroles during your Grandmother's Thanksgiving dinner) heaped under the top pretzel bun hood. A segregated bite found the burger patties un-seasoned and not terribly tasty (both mine and Wife's burger). What a bummer. They gave a very small discount on the burger as an apology for the offending tomato slice. We don't go into restos with a defensive attitude. We HATE sending things back, and will only take a discount or comp if the kitchen or service ABSOLUTELY shit the bed. Wife had the queasies for the rest of the day thinking other vegetations on her burger (or the burger itself) had evidence of mishandling. Fortunately, there was no food sickness. Yes, there was heavy metal music playing very loudly throughout our visit, making conversation difficult, but I knew that would prolly be the case on the way in. The whole thing was disappointing. I was hot-to-trot about the original store and how they seemed they were taking a stand against any restaurant taking itself too seriously. It wouldn't surprise me to learn the folks who financed this outpost mandated some marketing fuck to whitewash the "Heavy Metal" concept, as seen in countless corporate restos based on a charming, small joint, and having none of its original DNA. Doug Sohn was so right to never franchise "Hot Doug's", lest the accountants make a pudding of his concept and vibe as they obviously did here with Kuma's I should have known when I walked in the front door and did not see a placard with the "house rules" nearby. It's a one star. The Old Fashioned and Salad weren't THAT good.

If you're a beer drinker, they have a massive selection on tap (about 90 taps--and no, that's not a typo!). They also have a large patio that looks like a great spot when the weather is nice. Inside, there's a good mix of low-tops, high-tops, banquettes, and booths. All the tabletops feature copper tops with wood trim, and exposure to water and food over time has given each table a unique patina. We arrived right as they were switching over from the brunch menu to dinner, and the staff made us feel very welcome. What We Ordered: Smoked Brisket Reuben Eggrolls: We ordered these special eggrolls for the table. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and since many traditional eggrolls contain shrimp, he was excited to try these. He said they were the best eggrolls he's ever had (though he admitted he doesn't eat them often!). He paired it with a Guinness Zero non-alcoholic draught and was amazed by how close it tasted to the original. Fish Tacos ($19): Recommended by another reviewer, these come with three cornmeal-battered, fried Mahi-Mahi tacos topped with cilantro lime cream and fresh micro cilantro. They were crispy and very tasty. If you're usually sensitive to cilantro, you might still enjoy these--I mostly tasted a bright, lemony freshness rather than heavy cilantro. Sides (Broccoli Rabe & Asparagus): I substituted chips for a vegetable side. Due to a mix-up in the kitchen, I got to try the broccoli rabe first, though it turned out way too spicy for anyone at our table. My actual order was asparagus--my absolute favorite--but it was a bit disappointing, as the bottom half of each stalk was woody and fibrous. Fish & Chips ($21.50): My friend went with this traditional entry. At that price point, he was expecting three fillets, but he couldn't finish the two that were served and took some home. Overall, a solid entrée. Classic Breakfast ($15.50): My husband got this from the brunch menu. He was very pleased with the scrambled eggs, potatoes, thick-sliced bacon, and sausage links. Overall, a solid visit with great variety on the menu!
