The ambience is welcoming with a nice bar seating type atmosphere. Very roomy. Large bar area, and lots of booths and tables We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer. They were ok. They were really greasy which is not to my liking I ordered the steak medium well. The steak was good. It was more on the medium well side. Came with broccoli and finger potatoes. The broccoli was good and the finger potatoes were very good. The potatoes were nicely seasoned. My favorite part of the dish. Too bad the steak was only good. We had a desert special. Fried Ice Cream. It was good. It had a Smokey flavor to it. The waiter was attentive and nice.

Peach chiller with MAHI MAHI TACOS
Tamara M.

Our waiter Rizzo was awesome!! So kind hearted and down to earth! Please ask for his section whenever you go in and omg I can't forget about Sarah rose! Although we didn't sit in her section she was such a sweetheart and answered all of our questions! It was my first time here and my friend and I had an awesome time! The restaurant was clean and full of life as soon as they opened at 11am. Unfortunately We didn't get to try any of the beers on tap but I did have a peach chiller which was delicious! I do recommend. 10 out of 10! As far as lunch my friend ordered the mahi mahi taco which she loved and said tasted great! I ordered the spicy shrimp linguine which was actually delicious and it was a nice size portion. They have an amazing patio and beer selection! For the amount of food given, it is reasonable. This is on our coming back to list and we will be back

Chicken sandwich @City Works

How many chicken sandwiches can you get out of one breast? CW has the answer! Based on the two we ordered today 4! Pound out, cut in half then filet each half. Sad the prices are up portioned size shrinkage. I'll get the Salmon or a burger next time. More a bar than a restaurant to let this happen. Please do better.

We came by for a late lunch and drinks. Parking across the street was pretty empty but completely filled by the time we left. Inside, it was mostly empty. The 3 of us got seated at a semi circle booth near the wall menu. As a cider drinker, I was happy to see more than angry orchard on the menu. Unfortunately, one option (Blake's) was not available. I ended up having a glass of the remaining two (Ace and Ebis). My wife got the nashville chicken wrap. I tasted and I admit it was spicy and fitting of the name in a good way. She only managed to get through less than half of it. The side fries were very tasty. When happy hour rolled around during our visit, I went for HH queso dip. Chips were good. Dip was decent. It had meat in it which I felt was unnecessary though. Service felt very mediocre. Server came by a handful of times but never took initiative to refill waters. Was given the check before we asked for it. Then server came back right away to run payment but we didn't have a card out yet. We had an annoying little fruit fly buzzing around us the whole time. Where there's one... Slight pet peeve: There was another party seated in the booth next to us. Their toddler accidentally flung some water(?) at us at one point. I get that kids happen but still SMH when I looked around and realized we were the only two tables in the very large, empty hall. Would have appreciated more space buffer when possible. While it looks like a great place to watch a game, I was not all that impressed with overall experience during this visit.

Not sure I didn't like it

I did a to go order. The place had a nice ambiance and they had a nice outdoor area. Being gluten sensitive they had a good choice of food options. I opted for the salmon dish. The photo doesn't do it justice as a Togo . Very tasty and the side of vinaigrette was very tasty. Prices are average to high and there is a surcharge of 3% on credit cards but not cash or debit. Service was fantastic. Very friendly staff. I would come again if I am in town, next time I will dine in.

We wanted to get a night cap before heading to the hotel. Luckily this restaurant was nearby our hotel. Big restaurant with lots of TV hung at the bar and nice booths that can easily fit 8 people. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. They have a big selection of beer on the wall. We wanted something to munch on with our cocktails, so smoked wings it is. Delicious by the way.

GRILLED LEMON SALMON*

Came here solo after a tiring morning at work (ended up being a late afternoon meal), and this place was exactly what I needed. The food absolutely hit the spot--I left feeling refreshed and energized! I've come here several times and have always enjoyed the food. Most recently, I tried the Grilled Lemon Salmon and loved it! It was flavorful, filling, and beautifully presented (see photo). I also enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon blanc that complemented the meal wonderfully. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, which was perfect for unwinding after a long morning. Kelsey was great. She was attentive, friendly, and personable. TL;DR: Great food, great service, and great vibes. I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

IMPOSSIBLE BURGER

I stayed in Schaumburg for only three days and I ended up eating here four times, partly because of convenience, but also the food was delicious and the staff was phenomenal. I was served more than once by a delightful server named Sararose. She was attentive and friendly and part of the reason I came back so many times. If you share reviews with your staff internally, I would love for them to all know what a great job they are doing. I can only give five stars on yelp, but I give City Works Schaumburg nine thumbs up!

Came here last weekend for a nice weekend brunch/lunch date with my hubby and I loved the outdoor seating. The weather was perfect for it and those giant umbrellas came in clutch. Server was ok, he seemed a bit unenthusiastic and stoic. The food though was lovely and I would come back to try other things because their menu has that bit of a creative edge

Beer flight

I came here with a friend on a Friday night and we had a great experience. We walked in at 6:30 and the place was packed! We didn't have reservations and they said it would be a 30 minute wait. We ended up getting lucky and finding 2 spots at the bar so we spent the night there. The bartender was excellent. They have a wide variety of different beers on their beer menu. I was pleasantly surprised with how many they offered. I ordered the beer flight and they were all very good. One of them was a strawberry basil beer, so that was interesting! The food was better than I expected. I ordered the chicken tinga tacos and they were delicious! The atmosphere is great and when we left at 9:15 it was still busy. I plan on returning and trying more of their food and beer!

My friend and I decided on City Works for a late night dinner. The setting was perfect for a conversation. The grilled chicken burger definitely hit the spot after a long day. The chicken was moist with visible grill marks. The burger held up well between the warm bun. The fries were crispy and cooked to perfection. Overall, I would definitely order this meal again.

PRETZEL BITES
Lily D.

As a catholic, I was looking for a good fish and chips last Friday. I went out on a limb and decided to try City Works. I'm so happy I did! We started with the crab fondue- which being someone who isn't a fan of crab, I'm surprised I liked this as much as I did! We also got the pretzel bites which were soft and chewy and a great little snack! The fondue was very rich, so if you decide to get it, I would recommend only sticking with that unless you have a big group- because it was quite filling! It is goat cheese based, which I love, but it wasn't super tangy. So if you are someone who's not the biggest fan of goat cheese because it has a little pungent taste, I wouldn't write this appetizer off! Definitely worth the try. The star of the show was the fish and chips. The batter was light and airy, and the fish was flaky and didn't have any fishy taste. It also was not rubbery in the slightest, which I find to be the biggest issue with some fish fry. Their coleslaw was good, however, not personally a fan of the red onion in it. I did get honey mustard on the side and it was DELICIOUS. Sweet and tangy, perfect consistency for dipping! The booths are quite deep and the inside is a slightly more upscale sports bar vibe- but don't get it twisted, I still wore sweatpants and was perfectly fine! Our server was a little soft spoken and we had to wait occasionally, but I will assume it's because it was busy and the first day where it was above 50 degrees in the Chicago area for awhile. Im looking forward to returning on another Friday to fulfill my lent fish fry craving!

Came to watch the football games with my friend. Spacious area. Good ambiance. Food was solid and drinks were good. Not a bad spot to kick back and watch some football!

Get the Southern Popcorn Chicken!!! Super yummy!!

The cook at the omelette and carving station is top notch--he's very pleasant and efficient. My omelette which was chock full of fresh ingredients was cooked to perfection. The Prime Rib was a perfect rare and seasoned well. Their signature Parmesan Reggiano hash browns are a must have. The breakfast bread choices are fresh and very tasty. I'm not a big fan of cocktail sauce with shrimp, I make an exception for theirs. It is obviously homemade and has just the right amount of kick to it. The staff is courteous and efficient. The (female) manager was constantly on the go keeping an eye on the entire operation. The entire premises is immaculate, the bathrooms are very clean and fresh smelling. A friend took me to a buffet at one of their big name competitors--that place was way overpriced and the food wasn't as good. The server informed me that they were out of more than 70% of the beer listed on the beer menu. If that wasn't bad enough, it took our server about 15 minutes to bring the flight. Brunette bartender with a lovely accent was so sweet and attentive and funny! Walked over a couple nights later, and it was drastically different. The bartender (Lindsey) was constantly complaining to a customer (seems she knew him) about her co workers, it was a little uncomfortable because we could hear everything seeing as we were the only ones at the bar. Lastly, she was so rude and pushy about taking my plate when I still had food on it. The third or fourth time she asked me if I was "done with my food" I just said yeah take it. I'll start with the service. We had Danielle as a server and she was fantastic! She was friendly, happy, and very efficient! I loved her spirit, it made our experience so much better. We ordered non-Irish food, but it is a bar, so expect bar food. We ordered Chicken Wings with BBQ Sauce and Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. Both came with fries and the portions were quite massive! The flavors were not exciting or different, but was delicious. The wings were lightly fried and the BBQ sauce wasn't too punchy. It was very mild. The home made cole slaw was great. It had a cruncy texture and was delicious. The hot chicken sandwich had the necessary spice for Nashville Hot Flavor. Also delicious. They have a vast selection of drinks and the bar is quite large. You walk in, and you're walking in an old Irish bar, wood and reminders of Guiness wherever you go! I really enjoyed our experience and the food. I didn't see too many Irish dishes, but the menu was quite large. The service was great and the food was delicious. I'm glad I finally went in to Finn McCool's.
