Been coming to this place since the first day they opened! Nice people but their inconsistencies in their food drive me Crazy! My wife and I just had two combos, with cheese! Awful cannot begin to describe them, the sausage was dry, overcooked and hard, the beef was rubbery! And then cardinal sin they microwaved it to melt the Cheese! I thought this was affiliated with the Mr Beef on Harlem (at Irving Park Road) in Chicago when I drove by so stopped and got slice of pizza. It was thicker crust and not very good. Bready or toasty crust and nothing like the pizza at Mr Beef on Harlem in Chicago. I didn't try to beef. read more

My buddy and I stopped in to check this joint out a few months back after being recommended from one of his coworkers. I totally dig the classic old school diner vibes and its a shame that there was only a few people inside when we were there. The sweet lady who took our order was very helpful to recommend some items on the menu. Overall the place seemed well kept and honestly under appreciated. Wait times for food were reasonable and things moved along well and without fuss. I jumped at the usual things i get from these kinds of places. The french fries were decent, but didn't really have much that set them above the average fry, though we ain't hating here. Of course I had to get the mozzarella sticks, and it was the right choice like always. The flavor and texture were on point, and the pull was tenfold. The marinara needed a little more going for it, but that didn't detract. My main item, a basic hotdog was solid as well. I intended to try some other things next time for sure, since they have pizza as well. It's a gall darn shame this place wasn't jumping when we were there, cause I can imagine what that atmosphere would be like. Lets spread word about Mr Beef! Can't wait to be back! read more

I ordered a pepperoni pizza slice. I became alarmed when I noticed there was just one pepperoni on the pizza and then found that most of them were hidden beneath the cheese layer. I believe this was done on purpose to give it a distinctive appearance. The pizza's cheese was spread equally throughout. The pie's frame was airy and slightly firm, and the sauce had a subtle tartness. I also had a New York strip steak sandwich. The steak itself was delicious and had a good charred aroma from the grill. The only issue I had was that it was cooked too well, which made it difficult to chew. The bread is lightly toasted, has a lovely golden color, and is still fluffy. The sandwich is served with sliced tomatoes, a little sweet grilled onions, and freshly chopped lettuce. Bad Customer Service, lied about what's included in the meal for upselling. Owner didn't want to fix the issue, called the police tried to trespass me because I asked for a refund. The owner was extremely rude he kept my food and didn't refund me. Police complaint filed. read more

What has happened to this place. They took all the TVs out and the crabby grey haired older women ignored us while we were in line. This used to be a fun family type place. Now it seems like a shell of what it was. What a disappointment. No friendly workers anymore. Food was good. But it was more than the food bringing us here. read more

Mr. Beef and Pizza, two of my all time favorite things. Visited on a Saturday afternoon 2pm, inside is huge clean, and has that 50's diner vibe happening, only a hand full of people eating inside the restaurant. Ordered a combo meal with sweet and hot peppers and a slice of sausage pizza, dine in. The pizza had a crispy thing going on the crust, like it may have been reheated? It's definitely a thicker style crust heavy on the sauce and cheese. The sauce was kind of bland but the sausage pieces were good. Cheese was good, but the slice was average at best, not something I would go out of my way for. The combo with sweet and hot was a let down. The beef was dry and the gravy lacked any deep Italian flavor, did not get any garlic or oregano spices more like a beef broth. The Italian sausage also lacking spice no fennel or seasoning. The sweet peppers and giardiniera did help make it better. Fries were a frozen bag variety that were not salted and pretty plain. So they have a huge menu with just about everything you can think of, however when you call yourself Mr. Beef and Pizza I expect a great Italian beef and a delicious pizza. It's good but not great in my opinion. No desire to try anything else from the large menu. read more

My wife and I went there for lunch on July 4th weekend. I had a beef, fries and a slice of cheese pizza and my wife had a slice of cheese. I hadn't been there for a while, and it is as good or better than I remember it. The beef is not over seasoned or spicy which is fine with me because the beef is top quality and I love the flavor of the meat and I don't want it over powered by spices. I had the beef with sweet peppers on it and their hot pepper mix on the side. While the hot pepper mix had a great taste and aroma, I cannot tolerate hot spice too well, so I couldn't eat that much of it. But that' s just me. I thought the quality was excellent. The pizza was a big slice with lots of cheese and a good firm crust. Very good and filling, we both loved it. With the beef, fries and pizza, I was full the whole rest of the day. And, the place is very clean and there is a lot of room. I do miss the TVs but let's face it, but most of us probably watch too much TV anyhow! read more

As a lover of pizza and beef I was excited to eat here. I've driven by for years and finally tried it. It's ok. They won't win any awards for their pizza (which is heavy) and the beef was decent but not particularly memorable. The service was good. As for the ambiance, I'm not sure what was off about it maybe it was the ripped, dirty looking booths or maybe it's that tacky purple color. As we were walking out, the man filling the gumball / prize machines gave my boys a couple of prizes. That was really appreciated. I'll give it another shot though and you should too. really wanted to like this place... it has a such a cute diner vibe and an inviting menu but unfortunately just missed the mark on everything. food (pepper and egg and a salad for me; gyros, burger, kids nuggets) were fine at best. and omg the ladies room made me lose my appetite even more. we had just come from the nearby park district that had a cleaner porta potty. the staff was so sweet but unfortunately would not reco a visit. read more

Use to love this place. Chicken sandwich with fries and a Pepsi almost $17.19. $8.25 for a sandwich and $4.99 and $2.25 for cheese fry and medium Pepsi. I thought it said "bundle and save" I don't think so!! I understand that prices have gone up everywhere but I have not seen this kind of mark up ANYWHERE! Drive thru! That's something! Worth the 20 mins wait. It was our first time here. Great service. Food was delicious and was made to order. You don't need to even asked for condiments it came with it. Finally decided to go here after they opened up limited seating inside. Beefs are to sloppy to eat in you're car and I like my beefs dipped so lots of napkins are needed and a table. They say their recipe is the same one used at Mr. Beef on Orleans in the city. I've been to that one several times back in the day, and I remember the city location being much better that here plus the giardinera was better downtown. Now the beef sandwich here was A-OK. I asked for mine dipped and it wasn't but still pretty juicy. The person at the register wasn't the most friendly but the person giving out the food was much nicer. I'll take a beef from Johnnies or Portillos or even Buona beef before here but if I'm in the area again and craving a beef or combo I would stop here again. They have a very interesting sandwich called the Italian Trio that I want to try. Its described in the menu as 1/2 beef, 1/2 sausage, 1/2 meatball. They offer 3 sizes of beefs, a junior a regular and a big that was really quite big and filling. Drive thru and looks to have plenty of parking. Pizzas thin and pan, and by the slice, salads, pastas, chicken, hot dogs and burgers. Good value. Catering too! read more

Best pizza if you want something between thin and hand tossed. Sauce is great! Tomato sauce gives me heartburn but this doesn't. I am a huge Italian beef fan and finally got to try this place. I wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, however for a place that has beef in their name I would have expected better. I have been spoiled by their neighbors Mr. Beef in Arlington Heights and Bubbys in Elk Grove. This place is cool. Quick lunch food. Tasty. Only issue is the old lady in the front. She is so rude. Lowkey she is rude.

We are only allowed a 30 minute lunch and my office is right around the corner from this place. A few of us come here pretty regularly and have tagged along a couple times. The first time I went was because I had a craving for Gyros. They were very good. The pita was fresh, and the meat was pretty decent. Their fries- I could go either way. They are not my favorite. I have tried their fried shrimp, it's just frozen fried shrimp from what I can tell. It comes with a salad and the last time, it was pretty pathetic; wilted and such. I have ordered their grilled chicken sandwich a few times and it's pretty good. Not a lot of flavor, though. I really order it because its on days I need some protein. I'm almost tempted to put salt on the chicken, but refuse to because thats so bad! :) I would like it if they put some seasoning or marinaded the chicken breasts. I can't complain about the food not being fresh....that is not an issue here (minus the frozen stuff). Their service is good. The food gets prepared pretty quickly and they keep the tables pretty clean. Another plus is they offer a caffeine free diet cola (pepsi)! Not a huge fan of pepsi products, but it's caffeine free and diet, so I can't complain. This is hard to find at any restaurant. Glad they caught on! I'm sure I'll be back soon.
