Your classic style Portillo's is the one in Rolling Meadows. With it being a national company, the opted in to also have self ordering kiosks, but thankfully they still have cashiers! I love going to Portillos for their burgers. That's right, not only do they do a great Chicago dog and Beef, they have fantastic burgers. Normally their burgers are more rounded but this one seemed to be a bit smashed. I enjoyed every bite of my hamburger with everything on it. You could get the $9.99 burger meal deal, but I upgraded to a large onion ring instead of fries, and it didn't disappoint. We also tried their giardiniera dip. This was a surprise because it's a new side sauce that Portillos is offering. It's also a first. I've never seen a giardiniera dip/sauce. It was served cold, which was a little off, we expected it to be warmer. Overall, you can get a great meal to go or seated inside. 4 stars for Portillo's overall. This is a nice location in Rolling Meadows next to a big Walmart. Portillo's is just your average Chicago area chain restaurant with Italian Beef's/Burgers/Hot Dogs/etc. I had the Italian Beef Sandwich juicy with hot peppers, it was good but certainly not as good as a mom and pop Italian beef restaurant. This is a review for Portillo's catering service. I recently hosted a birthday and anniversary party for my parents where we anticipated 25 guest. I ordered the large Italian beef/mostaccioli/chopped salad package (that comes with two chocolate cakes), a hot dog fast pack, a tray of meatballs, and an extra cake for a noon pick-up. I arrived at noon, and everything was boxed up and ready to go. The person at the counter went through all of the food and serving items (trays, sternos, utensils, etc.) to make sure it was all there. When I arrived at my parent's place, everything was easy to set up. The food was hot and delicious (especially the meat balls and chopped salad). Even though Portillo's says that the large portions serve 16 to 20 people, there is enough food for way more people. We had a lot of left-overs. If you'e having a party, and you're looking for reasonably-priced, delicious food, this is the place to go. Thank you for making my party a success, Portillo's!! read more

Nothing hits like a real Chicago dog from a Chicago legend. The hot Italian beef with sweet & hot peppers was also . We loved the vintage diner decor as well. There's not a ton of foods I miss from Chicago...but Portillo's is one of them. And it's not even about the Italian beef or the mayo Chocolate Cake we all like to talk about. Not even the cheese fries or the aforementioned chocolate cake shoved & grinded into a creamy shake. Not even the unreplicable chopped salad. I mean, I love all those things. But what I crave here are their good freaking hot dogs. On my last trip home, my friend and I got hot dogs, cheese fries and ate like monsters in the car together. It was grand. At this location, as with all locations, there will be a line. The wait at Portillo's is similar to the wait I do now at In N Out in LA. You drive up, might pull down the block even to wait, but you wait for the drive thru until the staff takes your order. The staff is so friendly and the line moves pretty fast! Now back to the hot dog, nothing beats the Vienna Beef hot dogs they have at Portillo's. I could pretend I was a good Chicagoan for you and that I get my hot dog with mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers. However that is horrifying to me and I get my hot dog completely plain, just dog on slightly steamed poppy seed bun. It's so freaking good and why can I not find it in LA?! Curses! While I have been visiting Portillo's all over Illinois and Indiana for at least the last 18 years, this was my first visit to the Portillo's location in rolling Meadows. This place is a flashback in time and literally looks like a 1950s diner and it's absolutely incredible to see the decor and how well-maintained. The place happens to be. It is absolutely nostalgic. Of course this is Portillo's and so they have the standard menu, especially since the sale of the company. However, the quality is still there the speed and the great customer service. Everything was great here. Service was great, food was delicious and ambience is casual and very nice. I enjoy visiting the different establishments because each one is unique and different. This is my second best favorite location and I have been to many. I can't wait until Katy, Texas gets theirs up and running but they need one on I-10 going towards the Eastside of Houston, preferably in the NorthShore and Woodforest area. I will definitely come back to this one when I'm in town. My only complaint is that they don't put enough hot peppers on it even though they charge you for them. Stopped here immediately after landing at O'Hare and on my way to my destination. Easy to find, right off I-90. Italian beef sandwich with cheese - tasty bite but the bread was a little soggy. Good flavor! Fries were salty so I'd likely order with no salt in the future. Crisp and goes perfectly with the sandwich. Chocolate Cake Shake - winner, winner! I mean, this has been my "home" Portillo's ever since I was a. kid. Can't even tell you how many times I've gone through that drive-thru! Portillos will always have a special place in my heart, and I don't think I could ever get sick of the food. I love their Italian beef, I always get it with both sweet and hot peppers. Their cheese sauce stays melty and is a must with their crinkle cut fries obvi. They also have a lot of lowkey items that don't get enough credit like their charbroiled chicken sandwich (I get it with honey mustard) and their Greek chicken salad which is my order 80% of the time. Oh, and the hot dogs here just hit different, too (Chicago style, of course!) The reason I docked a star is because of the cleanliness of this specific location. In all my years of coming year, I have vivid memories of lot of tables and seats, specifically the booths, being dirty. Same with the bathrooms. You can definitely tell they haven't gotten anything done in decades, but that kind of also goes with the retro charm and I kinda love it. Just wish it was cleaner sometimes! The service though has always been great and very quick. They're always on the hustle and bustle since it's usually always busy; I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen it completely or close to being empty. I love portillo's. Love their Italian beef, hot dogs, cheese fries, chopped salad...etc but the service at this location is very slow. The drive thru is always such a long line, at least whenever I go. I definitely recommend ordering ahead of time for pickup. When I go to this location I always order for pickup. Although it's not always ready at the estimated time, it's better than waiting in a long line. Again, great food but slow service. My go to here is the Italian beef, cheese fries, and chopped salad . Can't go wrong with it. If you get the Italian beef, make sure to get the sauce on the side! Make it extra juicy by dipping your sandwich . Also- I tried their new spicy chicken sandwich... meh. Didn't have high expectation to begin with but it was still very disappointing. The tomato was soggy which made the chicken very soggy. The sauce wasn't spicy at all for me personally. It was very bland. Overall, the texture to flavor was all very disappointing. I'd rather get a chicken sandwich from McDonald. Went here recently and got the beef sandwich and a buffalo chicken sandwich with my partner. We always get the fries with a cup of cheese and are never disappointed. I also ordered a milkshake and it was one of the best I've had in a while. This location is very vintage and the inside takes you back to the early years of Portillos. The service at Portillo's has significantly declined. I was in the drive thru and the attendant left to go in the restaurant and did not return for over 8 minutes. Once at the window I waited again and finally received my order. I ordered the chopped salad the small piece of bread was thrown in the bag . It used to be placed in a separate paper bag. We stopped by on Monday, December 4th around 3:15pm for a mid-afternoon snack. *Hot Dog: Chicago-style hot dog with everything, which includes mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers piled onto a steamed poppy seed bun ($2.95) *Chili Cheese Dog: Hot dog served with American cheese and topped with chili and chopped onions ($3.45) *Cheese Fries: smooth cheddar cheese sauce as a dipping sauce for salty, crinkle-cut french fries ($2.60 small) *Small Soft Drinks: Coke, Diet Coke ($1.89 each) I got the standard dog. I adore the combo of veggies with the meaty hot dog. I'm not a big bread person, but the soft poppy seed bun is a great vehicle for all the yummy fillings. The roommate got the chili dog. I hate beans (or really dislike them as hate may be a little too harsh), so this wasn't really for me as the chili had beans. I loved the cheese fries though. That ooey gooey fake cheese. So good! This location is cute. Kind of like a retro diner. It was very quiet when we got here, so very easy to find a booth to have our late lunch / early dinner. The only thing was the table did need to be cleaned. I ended up wiping down the seats and table top before we sat down. Glad I got my hot dog on. The food is what it is...been the same for decades.... My complaint is why ask what we want as toppings if u are just gonna put whatever they want? I get pick up a lot and they NEVER have the topping right. I get a hot dog for me and one for my mom and get us a fry to share. We like different toppings and I customize the topping on both dogs..... they always get them wrong. Why even ask.... I hate onions and always have to pick them off and half the time there is mustard when I ALWAYS indicate we don't want any. I order each dog separately so not even the combo that they would maybe assume that both would be the same.... And sometimes it's not even close to what either of us wanted. Basically I never get what we want when I order pick up or drive thru. So I'm not getting the food I pay for which is the whole point of buying food. read more
