For our meals we ordered a table pancake (meaning, a pancake for sharing). It was fluffy and perfectly good - nice and hot. They have "syrup" and it reminded me of being a kid and having Log Cabin syrup. I didn't ask, but it didn't taste like pure maple syrup. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with a grilled english muffin. It was perfectly cooked and it was delicious. It tasted like canned corned beef hash and I was not mad about it. I truly wanted comfort food and this hit. My friend had the S.O.S. (gravy with beef and pork) AKA Sh*t on a Shingle. It looked soooo good and she stated the biscuit and gravy and meat were good. We took our leftovers home, which will tell you, the portions were decent, the food was delicious and no delicious food would be left behind. I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in diner food, with quick friendly service and plenty of space. I definitely want to come back and get the S.O.S.

I found out from a former employee that they use instead , pancake batter with artificial blueberries in that they also use the imitation butter flavored spray to cook with. Most of the fried foods or frozen and tossed in the fryer. Soups, Chowder, and chill or canned. Other food is pre-made and just warmed up. My friend was also charged $1.50 extra for gravy on their mashed potatoes and $1.25 for a slice of bread. Other friend who went here was charged $2.00 extra for there eggs and $1.75 extra for onion in their home fries. We were all shocked to be told that they rounded up on the bill and would not get are change back if we did not have the exact cash. We will never, ever, ever go back to The Fairgound Cafe. ​

Coffee and ice water were brought right over, and we noticed that one of the muffins of the day was pumpkin butterscotch. WHAT!! We immediately ordered one grilled, and the server had to let us know that they had JUST sold out, but they did it in a way with such empathy I felt understood. For breakfast, I ended up ordering a western scramble with home fries and rye toast (buttered in advance, of course!) and my companion ordered the steak benny. The breakfast plates are great. Yummy potatoes, next time, I am going to try the regular homefries. The bread....YUM...it's housemade!!! Great portions, great price and great service!
