One of my favorite places if you feel like gettin' your kicks on Route 66. They have food but you don't come for the food, you come for the pop. If you're an Okie you say pop, not soda, not coke, it's pop. Pops has all the pop one could desire. There's classics you can't find anywhere else, the new age, and their own blends brewed (for lack of a better term, not sure if you brew pop?) in house. You can grab a six pack cardboard container and mix and match your own favorites. It's glorious! There's a new location in the OKC area if you need your fix but that's no fun. This is the original location on Route 66 and has the classic tourist pop shaped building that warms my nostalgic heart. If you have nothing to do on a Summers day make the drive out and try Pops out! Their food is great and very reasonably priced. Grab a six pack to go and enjoy the view. read more

From your traditional Pepsi and Coca-Cola with cane sugar. A dazzling array of orange sodas. A smorgasbord of strawberry sodas. Sarsaparilla, grape, cherry, creams and root beer just to name a few. They also have a slew of strange sodas. Such as Jolt Cola. Lennon Aid. Dog drool. Kitty pee. Pumpkin pie flavored. And so many more. This is a fun adventure for a day trip. As it is a tourist Mecca be sure to bring your patience. We've never eaten at the restaurant. But have heard good things about the hamburgers and shakes. Maybe someday will forgo the soda and just have a burger here. No probably not. The sodas and the nostalgic candy are the main draw here. The outside also has the signature soda bottle. So its a gas station, restaurant, and place to get an assortment of unique soda's all in one, Awesome! Just a quick trip on rte 66 and you will see the 40ft tall Pop bottle off in the distance. Hopefully you drove at night so you could see if all light up. It is a normal gas station, prices are a little more expensive than in the city, but its what you expect. The building is some kinda futuristic place and all that glass is a place to show off all the unique pop bottles they have. Its just a nice experience. The diner is your normal diner food. They offer buffalo meat local to OK so that is cool. The root beer bread pudding is heavenly, i still dream of this thing. Otherwise the food is ok, not worth putting on the sunday go meeting clothes if you know what i mean. The pop collection is outstanding. Items from Coke with pure sugar, Jolt, even sodadigusting drinks like kitty piddle. They have a huge variety to please every palate. And it is always changing, so stop by often. Its not a place i'll hang out at often, but everything i mention it, a group seems to want to go with me. For those who don't know, during the holidays they set up a HUGE sleigh with presents and decorations for you to get a family photo in. I've been to Pop's several times trying out different kinds of soda; some silly like bacon soda, or ranch dressing but I always have to get some kind of vanilla, root beer and butterscotch and of course a Chunky candy bar. We usually leave with 10+ different sodas to try. I decided to try some food after taking photos at the lake so we got some breakfast. I can't believe I waited so long to try their food here. We called it in so we could take it back to the lake to eat. It only took 10 minutes for them to cook all the food. The buttermilk pancakes and sausage are amazing. The pancakes are as big as dinner plates and there are three of them! They serve it with three packets of real delicious salted cream butter and not that hydrogenated crappy margarine. The biscuits and gravy are really good. I love their breakfast potatoes.. crispy on the outside and thoroughly cooked but soft on the inside. The bacon is thick and cooked to perfection. The only thing I didn't like was they put the three sunny side up eggs on the side of the container. It made it hard to eat them without breaking the yolk until I was ready to. I like to save the runny yolk for last so I can eat it with the toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I wish they served breakfast during the week instead of just on weekends. I'm excited to try some burgers or something soon... my sodas are running low.. read more

Located in Arcadia, Oklahoma on the ever historical Route 66 is Pops- an out of this world pop shop, with hundreds of fizzy bubblys to blow your mind. Outside of Pops is a gigantic pop bottle for those favorite Kodak moments- oh poppin bottles! At night the gigantic pop bottle is illuminated and even more spectacular for viewing. At first I thought, "wow, gigantic Coke bottle at a gas station". Yes this place is also a gas station, and a diner; in retro style, and an old fashioned candy shop with so many amazing delicious delectables, you'll have to stop by more than once to get the fuel, I mean full experience. The inside decor is lined with row upon row of pristine sparkly thirst quenchers. Amongst the delectables are a wide variety of artisan and standard pops. Bry and I originally decided to buy 3 then we went around and looked a little deeper and we purchased 4 more, a few old fashioned candies and a cookies and cream fudge. We are big connoisseurs of cream soda and this place has every variety of pop, catalogued like a library ready for your consumption! What a treat! We had the Soda Boy Caramel Cream, Jones Cane Sugar Cream Soda and Orange Cream Soda, Freaky Dog Waggin Tail Cream Soda. Jones Cream Soda tastes and smells, like cotton candy, and is super delicious- my absolute favorite! Bry loved Soda Boys Caramel Cream and raved about its caramelly goodness. Now the Sweet Prairie Cookies 'n' Cream fudge was just okay- I'm a traditionalist when it comes to fudge (chocolate) so this could be a biased vote based on my part. Overall on this lonesome road in Oklahoma, this is a breath of fresh air and will quench your thirst. If you'd like to get your kicks on Route 66, this is an absolutely fun place and environment to do so. I'll be honest the food is just ok. But that isn't the real experience... it's all the soda! Love the use of soda bottles as decoration on the very modern glass shelf/walls. The coolers at the side of Pop's are filled with a variety of "off the wall" types of sodas. There's even a gross named section... Alas, I was not brave enough to try any of them. ;) I would suggest to hit up Pop's via motorcycle... by car is subpar. read more

This place may well serve the best fried okra in the entire South. (Now, bear in mind what high praise this is, as I'm a total fanatic about "the pod of the gods," and have eaten okra from Biloxi up to Charlottesville, and from Ocala in the east clear to Amarillo in the west.) Driving up to Pops on Route 66, leaves an impression hard to miss or forget. The architectural exaggeration of a typical 66 soda bar makes this a destination worth driving out of your way a bit. I didn't try any food, but had to get a 6 pack of different soda bottles to try later. There were many, many to choose from. I love how they used the variety of soda for window displays, as the light filters through the different colors. This gives the space a unique feel, and an almost overwhelming quality of different sodas available. This is what we were served today at Pops. It's suppose to be their pulled pork sandwich. It actually looks like it was left over from last week. When I asked the waitress if it was fresh. I was told, "we just made it today." It's pretty obvious this wasn't made today and looks worse than dog food; my dog wouldn't even eat fbjs. I DONT recommend anyone order this! I ate here a little over a week ago. This used to be one of my favorite places to go when I lived in OK. The quality has absolutely suffered since I was here last. I'm so disappointed. No pickles on the burger, burger was thankfully cooked all the way through, no mustard or ketchup on the burger, and the fries were no longer the shoestring fries which were my favorite. No more deals on burgers in the off season and the soda selection (on the store side) was poor. I remember a time where this place would be busy and this time there were barely any people there. Sadly the quality has most likely chased clientele away. Like I said before, this was such a disappointing stop. I had recommended this place to so many people but I can no longer do that. read more

This is actually my second visit to Pop 66. I took night shots last time and bought a few bottles (funds were limited at the time). However, this time around I may leave with an over abundance of soda and candy ( a lot of variety we ate in the 50-70's)! Pop 66 is on the historical Route 66 and it is a reminder of the "good ol' days" when families took road trips across America. We certainly did! This is probably the 1000th time I have been on or around Route 66! It never gets old and places like Pop 66 make it worth the current traffic aggravation! They have a diner with traditional comfort food. You shouldn't expect gourmet. It's a throwback to a by-gone era of Mom-n-Pop restaurants. All those who give the food low ratings.... Get off your high horse! Leave your pretentiousness at the door! This trip we met new friends so it is totally worth the detour! However when the bill came it was $8.99. The waitress checked on it, she said price was wrong. She then changed the price on the sign. The higher price was charged. Burgers are not seasoned and the patties are about the size of a McDonald's small cheeseburger. Not worth the money. If you go I would suggest just getting your pops for the experience but skipping out on the food. Also there aren't many varieties of soda, so if you're looking for that you won't find it. We stopped in to show a friend the iconic drive in that I've always loved. The hostess was very nice and the soda selection was great. This review is of the food and dinner service only. We all three ordered burgers. The burgers came out looking like charcoal and tasted about the same. We got the round barn burger and the mushroom Swiss burger. The eggs were cooked to death and the burgers, like I said were so dry and burnt. Not sure if we came on an off night but this was horrible. The server never made eye contact with us, and did she got one of the orders wrong. We didn't say anything because we figured she might have been having an off night as well. We were very disappointed seeing as we brought in someone to see this and we basically ended up eating charcoal. Can't say that we will be back because of that. read more

Pops was OK. The food looked really good, but too many flies. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and there was so many flies in the restroom. So, I'm thinking "how many of flies are in rotation from the crapy toilet to the restaurant that's right outside the door?". I might go back during the winter when there's no flies. I would give 3 and 3/4 if I could but I'd say this place is 3 3/4 stars. The food is, well, meh. It's modern takes on classic diner fare, but it didn't really feel like anything out of the ordinary to me. I didn't try the dessert options, those are probably better. The drink selection was the best part of the place, as it does have the most soda variety in the state, maybe the country. The sodas are the best part, and if this place was only the sodas this would probably be a 5 star or at least 4 1/2 review.
