I met a friend for dinner at Pooles. Each of us had the American Burger. Both of us ended up very ill, one of us having to miss work the next day. To add insult to injury the tip on the bill was round up. When I called to discuss the issue the manager. He seemed unfazed and unbothered. I wasn't looking for compensation, but was concerned, and wondered if other patrons had the same issue. There would be no follow up, and the manager didn't even take my name. Was excited to see the new place. Friday at 3. No one greeted me. Sign says wait to be seated. Wait wait wait. So i just walked in and sat at the bar. Got a drink relatively quik. The decor blows my mind. It's a brand new place. So they throw up flags of the military and random teams and a Jameson flag in the corner. Also random tin signs that say goofy things. They should consult with the owner that does the flying goat and know how to decorate. Also just rename it and call it a sports bar. That's what it is. No self respecting Irish pub would ever look like this. Btw. The food and menu hasn't changed. Been back. Better service. And the menu is incredible. I'm up-ping my star. The best service I've had in a restaurant in a long time. The hostess hurried over as soon as we walked in. She could see my husband limping (he just had surgery) so made sure to ask what type of table would be most comfortable. The gentleman who served us was amazing. I wish I had gotten his name! He made great recommendations for beer and was very personable and accommodating. He heard we were here on a tour of Whitworth with our son. Since the server was a senior at the university, he gave some great insights and tips. We don't live in the area, but if our son goes to college here this will be our go-to place! read more

Dropped in to meet friends during happy hour. Service was great in the bar. Decided to order food to take home. My food was fine, minus the sliced cooked tomatoes garnished on top, which were green and immediately discarded. My wife ordered the two piece fish and chips. The fish was seriously overcooked, apparently in old oil, and what remained of the fish inside was extremely dry. I didn't feel like driving back, so I called to speak with a manager, just to let him know, so he might correct future orders. He immediately started making excuses, saying the fish "doesn't travel well". I can expect it not to be crispy when I get it home, but not overcooked. I ended the call, but as my wife could not salvage anything, I called back to have them replace the meal. Another manager answered this time, and regurgitated the same mantra about the fish not traveling well. I asked if he could make another serving and I would come get it, then also asked for my money back and he inferred I couldn't if I was getting the meal replaced. Great customer service, right? Took a star off because we asked to sit in the bar and the host said he couid only offer us to sit at the bar. We saw a booth that was available and he said he just sat a table in that server's area so he sat us next to the door and hostess stand. I took another star off because our server was rude a coulple times. I asked her if the fries were frozen. Her response was "of course they are, most places are". I didn't ask for all that. I just asked if they were frozen. I ordered a mai tai and it was very good. I also ordered the brie burger and it was delicious. It had basalmic sweet jam on it, which made it a hit. My husband had a chicken burger and he loved it. Not sure if I'll be back if I can't sit in the bar if I want to. read more

We dropped in on Poole's Public House on a Tuesday evening about 7 PM. It was packed. We were lucky to get a table, and the wait staff was working hard to keep up. Its a local pub with a large crowd of regulars, which is good for a strip mall place. There wasn't a line to get in, but all the tables were continually full. We weren't there for dinner so we got drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Boneless Wings. The chicken was okay but the breading was very heavy. It reminded me of the kind of food I buy frozen at Safeway and heat up. I doubt it was hand made in their own kitchen. We also got the corn chips and salsa. These were good but nothing to write home about. Overall it was an okay place devoid of pretense or fancy. No dress up dining, the kind of pub that locals tend to frequent. Some people think that's the best kind of place. This pub was barefoot friendly. read more

Have ate lunch here before & fresh cobb salad was good & huge, however, chicken was very dry. Went to Taco Tu for first time last night. Service was quick & friendly. $8 margarita was blah & weak. Asked waitress about portion size & told chicken nachos were "Huge," so decided to share. Husband wanted try their beef taco (said wasnt good). Again, chicken very dry & toppings were loaded but only on single layer of tortilla chips. Sour cream was forgotten when served & had ask for some along with more chips. Disappointing. read more

We've been here a couple of times for a beer, but this is the first time we've come in for a meal. Will not eat here in the future. Arrived at 6:30pm, and less than 1/2 the tables were full. First sign of a problem, our waitress did not know what they they had on tab. Since they offer a rotating selection, this means we had to go to the bar, to order our beers. Next, we spent a bit of time for us to figure out what to order, what we wanted, as we haven't eaten here before, but it took a great deal longer to get our food. After waiting for 40 minutes, we finally asked if there was a problem. Since my wife and I used to wait tables, we are normally pretty understanding. Our waitress actually told us, it because they had a large dinner rush, so the kitchen was backed up. By this time less than 1/3rd of the tables had customers. When the food showed up the fish tacos shells were soggy falling apart, but the burger bun was not soggy at all. Looks like the tacos were finished before the burger was even started. My wife also had to go to the bar to get napkins and ketchup. No attempt was made to make up for the bad experience. Gave them 2 stars because the beer was good. read more

We just returned from dinner and it couldn't have been better. Monday night at 7pm, so it was uncrowded - nice in these days of Covid-19! My husband had the lemon shrimp pasta. The sauce was flavorful without being drowned in sauce - the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I had the blackened prime rib sandwich with sautéed mushrooms & onions and sweet potato fries as my side. My tiniest complaint is that the mushrooms really weren't sautéed, but the onions were caramelized - perfect! The beef was a good amount and very flavorful. The au jus had flavor and wasn't too salty, the sweet potato fries were probably some of the best I've ever had. Service was quick and unobtrusive - just how I like it. We love this restaurant. Great selection of food. Staff is always great. I had a Reuben and my spouse had fish tacos.

We came in during happy hour (4-6). They have 1/2 off all drinks during hh but no food hh menu. There was only one waitress for the whole restaurant and bar. She was nice but obviously busy. It took some time to get our order in because people kept coming in and she had to seat them. The highlight was the sweet potato tots. Nice crispy edges and melt in your mouth. Yummmm. But I wish there was more on my plate. Kind of a small serving. The veggie burger I had on the scotties favorite was good, but the burger didn't come with sauce so it was just... lacking. Not enough flavor. Kind of bland. Needed sauce. My friend enjoyed the club though. His plate definitely had a bigger portion than mine. Not jealous at all... Overall, I wasn't impressed. Poole's Public House never disappoints!! Tonight we had the fish tacos and my husband had the Rueben sandwich. Then the Huckleberry crème brûlée. It was all so delicious!! We needed a relaxing night to not think about the stress and all that life throws at us. It was so good. All I wanted to do was cuddle up by a fire with that delicious dinner. No fire but it was still a fantastic dinner and our server is really good at her job!! Thank you everything was wonderful!! read more

Great Restaurant like the South Hill Pooles it has a great Sports Bar vibe. We had lunch here and it was really good. I had the Blackened Prime Rib Dip. It was a good drippy Sammie! However, I didn't experience any "blackened" on the prime rib, also it seemed more like good roast beef not prime rib. I'm not complaining, it was really delicious and that aujus was yumm!! I would have liked the bun toasted a bit more. I had chips they serve Tim's Cascade chips which I like fine, But these guy should make their own chips that would make it so much better just a suggestion! My hubby had the Chicken Fried Steak it was a HUGE plate with a giant chicken fried steak, he said it was fork tender and crispy with a wonderful sausage gravy over mashed spuds, he loved it! I recommend visiting this restaurant for a nice relaxed date with great food and drinks! Lastly all food came out fast and our waitress was great! read more

Normally love this place but after today will not return. We waited for an hour after we ordered our food. The waitress came over and said there was some malfunction that caused the kitchen not to get our order but they were working on it right now. After another 1/2 hour, we decided to leave. She seemed surprised. She said she could box it up and gives us a big discount. We agreed. The discount ended up being a measly $15, not even 1 meal. I understand things happen and mistakes are made but I paid $100 to sit in a loud noisy restaurant for 1 1/2 hours and then eat cold rubbery food at home. Very disappointing. read more

We have always had a great time here until this last visit. We had a group of 10 and the service was very slow at 5:30 on a Wednesday. we waited almost half an hour for the server to come by and greet and take drinks orders (the place wasn't busy) then almost fifteen minutes for the drinks to arrive then I had to find the server to let her know we would like to order food. The food finally arrived but was cold :-(. Maybe you can blame staffing shortages but again it really was not busy. It was ok. My wife's order was good. I Ordered a Cajun style steak. Steak came out and it wasn't hot. So told waitress they cooked up another steak and brought it right out to me. It wasn't great kind of grissly but I appreciated their responsiveness. It was kind of silly on my part to order a steak in a hamburger place. It won't stop me from going back. Fun atmosphere. This was our second time coming to this place. We were actually headed to Birdy's and diverted to attempt Poole's one more time. The first time the service was atrocious. We waited forever for drinks and food and had to constantly ask for refills. We decided to give this place another shot today. Same bartender, same bad service. My food order did not come out correctly and I never was once asked for a refill on my drink despite the bartender and servers walking by my wife and I repeatedly. The food was mediocre at best. I'm kind of doing a comprehensive review of my last three or four visits. I really love the breakfasts and the strawberry chicken salad that I usually order. My last time in for breakfast, I got Corned Beef Hash and Eggs and found it a bit dry. I know what I did wrong: no gravy! Still, it was good-not like the Griz Scramble--but if I order the CBH again, I'll be sure to order gravy. On the other hand, the strawberry chicken salad has been par excellent! I need to actually try one of the hot dishes for sure. Can't remember what I had at Poole's South some time ago. What's great though is Poole's is less than ten minutes away from the apartment so it's close enough for breakfast or lunch or dinner whenever I feel like eating out. (The North Side) I give great thanks to my brother for introducing me to Poole's. It's where we go when he's in town. I give it all from the patio seats to the food and drinks a great up. The help is nearly always first rate too. If you have a need for good casual dining along with sports, then I recommend Poole's very heartily for a hungry guy. read more

Worst service I've had at the north side Pooles. Jason was our server and service was absolutely horrible. We added some friends to our table so he automatically added 18% gratuity. Service was not worth 18% and I'm normally a generous tipper. When I questioned Jason he got defensive and became quite the jerk about it. I guess they think they don't have to have service if they add gratuity to your bill. We ended up with 8 people but 4 different tabs. It was not that busy here and took forever to get our orders once we even him to come back for us to order food or drinks. If service is going to continue this way I'd not recommend Pooles up by Mead. read more

I went here with a date on the assumption that service would at least be decent. Not a chance. I stood in line at the greeting area, and was passed over by the host and several waitresses. They did not bother to seat my date and I. After 10 minutes, a cook from the back (YES A COOK) noticed we hadn't been helped and got us a seat. He also bought us a round of drinks, which was very demonstrative of his high character. However, service was atrocious, and our server was also not very good. We proceeded to wait several minutes for our appetizers and beers, which were forgettable. Overall, very bad experience and I will not be returning to this venue. read more
