Enjoyed another great experience at Saranac. Their beer menu is very nice and covers a nice variety from Lagers to Porter. I enjoyed an excellent vanilla porter, a mango wheat ale, pilsner, and sampled a wonderful raspberry ale. For dinner, enjoyed their Meatloaf, having previously had the beef short ribs and their meatballs as a starter. Service was wonderful, they provided recommendations for dinner and drinks. Saranac Public House earns a strong 4 stars from us. From the start, the experience was smooth--excellent customer service over the phone when placing our to-go order made everything quick and easy. When we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the guy at the bar was genuinely friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference. The food prep was impressively fast, and everything was packaged neatly and thoughtfully for takeout. We started with the pretzel, which was solid, but the real standout was the mustard--super unique with a tangy, spicy, almost wasabi-like kick that made it memorable. For mains, the curry dish hit a great balance--flavorful without being overpowering or too mild. And the biggest endorsement came from my daughter, who ordered the kids pasta with marinara and added chicken--she declared it the "best spaghetti she's ever had!" (Shh... don't tell mom.) Overall, great service, tasty food, and a welcoming vibe. This place offers a very large gluten free and vegetarian/vegan menu. Everything I have tried has been so delicious. My favorite being the Thai peanut flatbread (gluten free). It comes out shaped like a pizza instead of a flatbread but it is delicious! Also their gluten free mac n cheese is a must try! My travels have taken me to Spokane, WA. I saw Saranac Public House and gave them a try. Upon entering, the western, wooden layout had a nice western... but yet modern, bar and indoor seating. Outside they have plenty of tables for enjoying the weather while you eat. I was immediately sat when I walked in. Now the bad part, the service. Man the service is bad. This is not a reflection on my server. I believe they don't staff enough people. Others have complained as well. She was n ie and helpful with the menu. It just took 10 minutes before anyone offered me a drink. I ordered my drinks and Thai Rice Bowl in Peanut Sauce. The food took about 15 minutes come out. I was half done before she did a checkup on the food. Again, you can't do everything if you are the only server.when the food runner brought my food out, I thank him. He replied..,"Yep." And walked away. Very sterile and cold. The Thai Bowl had plenty of the very flavorful peanut sauce. The chicken was dry and just not very good. But the rice and vegetables were delicious!!! Brought husband here because I liked the food. Unfortunately we were both disappointed. We were sat quickly by the female bartender who always smiles and is very pleasant. The vodka soda tasted like all soda. The french onion soup was barely warm and had almost no cheese. We had to ask the waitress for water while she brought waters to other tables prior to them ordering. We were also charged full price for our cocktails even though we ordered during happy hour. My god, where do I begin. The staff were truly wonderful and very hospitable. The music was impeccable, walked into hearing Gerry Rafferty, so hell yeah, but the food, oh my god the food, so good. Was recommended to me by a friend for the next time I stopped in Spokane and I was happily surprised. Food was absolutely excellent, delicious, and best paired with a beer, a lager to be specific. We were staying downtown and took an evening walk to check out our surroundings. We spotted the twinkling of patio lights and they led us to Saranac Public House. We loved Saranac! We stayed in downtown Spokane for three days and three nights. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We made it to Saranac five times! In fact I'm the (Yelp!) Duke of Saranac! Saranac regulars from San Diego. LOL! It would've been more if they opened before 11:00 every day and stayed open later on Sunday. We stopped by Sunday early evening and they were already closed. We couldn't say good-bye... Service was exemplary every time. We met Hank, Javi, Abby and Scotty and they were all fantastic. The food was excellent also. We ate only a couple of times, but it was really good. The pretzels were really good. House baked soft pretzels served with our beer mustard & your choice of our cheese sauce or our smoky vegan cheese sauce. The housemade beer mustard was a game changer! Spicy and delicious! That stuff was outstanding! The housemade beer cheese sauce was fantastic also. Becky very much enjoyed a fresh and delicious Caesar salad. Organic romaine hearts, croutons, tossed in creamy Caesar dressing with parmesan & lemon. Served with crostinis. It was fresh, crisp and not over-dressed. Abby gave me a great recommendation with the Pork Belly appetizer. Asian marinaded pork belly, spicy mayo, kimchi and green onions. I was eye-ballin' the pork belly bowl. Abby said that the bowl was good, but if you just want pork belly get the appetizer. So that's what I did. A nice crispy exterior gave way to tender and flavorful pork. The Asian marinade was money! Pork belly get in my belly! Javi (with some unsolicited advice from Hank, LOL!) made what Becky described as a "perfectly spicy" Bloody Mary. I came here for dinner after work with my fiance and the vibes were great, lots of people but didn't have to wait for a table. We got the wings to start and they were such a tasty buffalo sauce/flavor! I got the French Dip with a side of Mac and cheese and both were great! All in all our food tasted great and we would recommend. However, the service was pretty bad. Our server came to take our order but my fiance had just sat down (I had been there for about 5 minutes before) so we said we weren't ready. For the next 15 minutes she was bussing/serving tables and wouldn't look in our direction. We definitely could understand she was pretty busy so we didn't let it bother us, until we called her over finally to order after those 15 minutes and she looked like we bothering her. After she delivered the food she never stopped by the table again to ask if we needed anything and refused to look in our direction when she was waiting other tables. We were hoping we didn't do anything wrong to upset her but honestly we were pretty surprised and bummed because we enjoyed the food. Upon entering this cute public house, I was greeted with a smile and sat immediately. The staff was warm and inviting. If you are looking for the pub vibe with some food options that aren't your typical burgers and fries, then this is your spot. You can have burgers and fries too. Lots of handheld items. I was thoroughly impressed with the menu options here. It's not fine dining, but it's damn good pub fare. There is truly something for everyone. If you are a carnivore, vegetarian, or vegan, they have you covered. Plus, gluten-free options, too. I enjoyed the Thai Rice Bowl with tofu. The coconut rice was creamy, and the cabbage and other veggies were fresh and flavorful. The peanuts on top gave a nice crunchy pop. The tofu was okay once you mixed it into the bowl to soak up the flavors. On its own, it was not seasoned or cooked to a texture I prefer. My drink was good, and the ambiance was fun. It was spacious with lots of seating options, including ones suited for larger parties. There are a few spots to sit at the bar as well if you're dining alone or just stopping in for a drink. I saw singles enjoying meals as well as families with children. I'm for sure going back to try some of the other menu items such as the salads and flatbreads. They even have mac & cheese that's real cheese or vegan and gluten-free if needed. Oh, and one other delightful thing was they had Sriracha. In 2022, they stopped making it for a while, and I have run out. I can't find it anywhere so far in 2023, and being able to have it with my rice bowl was absolutely divine. read more

Stayed locally on Gonzaga's campus for work and walked down for a meal. The atmosphere is good, but it's just another hipster pub. There's thousands across the country, but it was clean, service was excellent and they sat us quickly in a rain storm. We split three items between two people. The Thai pizza was great. Loved the peanut sauce and would have loved even more drizzled on top. Crust was good too. The flavors intensified when warmed the next day. Awesome leftovers. Pretzels and cheese were great. Would have loved a larger, hand twisted pretzel but the cheese was the star. Amazing. Finished with Mac and cheese which was the same cheese sauce. Very good, but very heavy. Great experience of a local business. Usually when I travel I really make an effort to visit local businesses. I was given the Saranac Public House from the managers at the hotel I was staying. Because of all the COVID restriction I was able to order ahead to pick up my food. I ordered the pork verde stew. On a cold day, it doesn't get better get better than this! Yum! It's hard to review this place, and I'm in between 3 and 5 stars. 5 for the place. The staff members are awesome and very friendly. I loved the vibe of the place, and it was comfortable. If I lived in the area, I could see myself visiting here often. It's a hangout spot for regulars. Drink selection is good, and I liked the variety. I got a cider on tap. 3 for the food. It's hard giving a rating of 3 to a place that offers multiple gluten free options. I should have sent my Mac and cheese back, but I felt bad due to them being short staffed. The noodles were not fully cooked and the cheese tasted like it was microwaved. Red lentil noodles are popular, but I don't think it was the right noodle choice for Mac and cheese. Parking is always easy nearby and using Spokane's parking apps make it cheap and convenient. The food on the menu is both standard favorites and unique entries. This week, I had a pork dip sandwich - I don't know the exact name, not the kahlua(Sp?) pork - and my friend had the chicken caprese sandwich, we both had the soup of the day. Sub par food and drinks. Reviews sound great but my chicken sandwich would have been better from chick fila. We love pub food, trying new places and this place did not stand up. Maybe the entrees are better. We ordered the cauliflower wings which were ok, but very greasy. And two different chicken sandwiches. The breading on the chicken had no seasoning, and the fries were ok, nothing special. The service was ok. It wasn't busy and yet we didn't feel any personality. But I try to give everyone a second chance with service. (But we probably won't be back) the building is very old Spokane and interesting. A quirky movie theater is inside the building, Saranas itself had too many TVs for my liking and the bench was very unsupported. I felt like a child sitting in that booth. read more
