I hired David Sdrougias to replace the liner and install a new light in my inground pool. I paid a deposit of $6,789, but the work was never completed. Absolutely DO NOT HIRE him. Very unprofessional for one. Was hitting on me and my mother. I told my mother David rubbed me the wrong way when he first came to the house and I did not trust him. I told my mother I had concerns with his work after the job was done and to contact him about it because we are tight on money to fix our pool and we should have it done right. David proceeded to say he was gonna come back to fix it but was more concerned with trying to flirt. The job was done horribly, said that he was going to put foam around the rust of my pool and the pool should be fine. HE DID NOT PUT FOAM around the pool!!! Then he was more concerned about being stung by bees than putting on my lining the correct way. Left all the buckles around the pool lifted and said it wouldn't go down due to how old the pool was which was a complete lie. Than proceeded to tell us after the job was finished that he would need to come back to fix something on my pool he noticed wouldn't last for the season. IF HE WOULD'VE TOLD US THIS BEFORE WE WOULD'VE NEVER PUT THE LINING BACK ON!!! I got annoyed and told my mom that was a red flag. Said he will come back but it was gonna cost us a lot. NEVER DID. 2 months after the job was done my pool completely burst and all my pool water went into my neighbors yard and my pond with expensive koi fish in it. My koi fish are all dead now. My pond is completely destroyed! And so is my pool! I'm very frustrated that this scam artist is still allowed to have a "business " and be able to take peoples hard earned money. We contacted David and he did not was refund us anything. Promised us a warranty and never got it. Dave Sdrougias is the most incompetent and dishonest person in the pool business. He installed a liner in my inground pool and did such a bad job it has already torn away from the bottom drain. He shows up in his nice car with no equipment at all and even borrowed some of my tools to do the job and leaves the old liner in a complete mess all over my back hard. He said he would order a replacement liner and even admitted he would doctor up one of the seams on the one he screwed up so he could file a warranty claim with Merlin. He also said I would have to pay him $1800 to install the new liner and that it was "in the contract". There is no contract! I drained the pool myself and patched the tear and will be happy if I get even one season out of this liner. He first said $500 because they are "experts" at the service (cleaning and filling pools.) We declined that price so he texted back later on saying $385 cash ONLY, half up front and half when the job was completed. We agreed and waited for him to show up same day. He showed up, took our $200 cash, and later sent two men to start draining the pool. They left and came back without supplies or cleaning products. When we gave them our own supplies (sub pump, vacuum) they had no idea how to use the appliances. David did NOT instruct the men correctly, provided them with NO appliances or cleaning supplies, and we are now left with an empty dirty pool. Do not hire . Is not professional and will lie about his experience. Read all his reviews online before you consider this person. I will not even call him a contractor . Shows up in a car with no equipment and asks to use tools which you would think a pool man would have , a hose? When you speak to him, he will promise to replace things and do expert work however, none of that is true. When he was confronted about it, he blames his worker which is so untrue because I watched him through a window, while his worker sat in a chair he did most of the shottie work himself. He did not replace anything that he told us he would, instead used the old rusty hardware. We will now have to take everything apart again and replace all the hardware. The liner he installed does have a tear on the outside which we hope will not cause a problem next season. His hire started off with him promising high quality of work. I couldn't even leave a one star because we paid for a job that not only wasn't done - it cost damage to my property and cost us more money. David showed up in a tripped out Audi and no truck or tools. That should have tipped us off. The new liner looked great but it was mismeasured and didn't fit properly but he said it was because we had ground water and needed a pump and he had someone else come and dig a trench. The trench sat as the grass died for weeks and he requested more and more money and never showed when he said he would. We found these other reviews popping up at the same time saying he was a scam artist and realized we were screwed out of the cash. Do not hire him for any reason. We will never see our money again and in this economic climate, it hurt us so bad. We have other people now who helped us salvage the liner for a season but next year we will have to completely redo the pool after this mess. And all we needed was a proper liner installation. Normally I vet everyone but there was so much going on I was not thorough and I got bit in the butt for it. This guy came, was very personable, and proceeded to 'close our pool'. I've never had a pool and did not know what to expect. Fast forward to the following summer when I needed to open the pool. I called, made an appt with him, and paid ahead of time on my card because that was how I had to 'secure' the appt. He never showed, and never answered my calls or texts. I have had my in ground pool for over 25 yrs and Dave and his workers are the best. Last season we needed our pool closed and we reached out to dave, he came in a couple days. Terrible Experience! On 4/8/23 Pool Service and Management installed a vinyl liner for our in-ground pool. The installer David left and gave instructions to fill the pool to a certain level and turn off the water. He would return to get his vacuum and complete the job on the following day. After David left I told him I saw a tear in a corner and that the liner was not flush against the walls in the corners. He asked me to FaceTime him to show him my concerns and I did. He assured me that the liner would stretch back to the wall when the pool was full and that he would fix the tear. He kept saying "don't" worry. I also expressed concerns about the epoxy applied to the stairs as the job looked sloppy and he again said "don't worry I got you." When David returned he took his vacuum and used glue to repair the torn area. He attempted to stretch the liner in the corner with hot water and assured me that the corners were "fine." He lightly sanded the stairs and when I said I was unsatisfied "he demanded final payment and said he was hired to fix a crack not make it look good." I paid him the balance and he left. He covered the pool again. We paid a deposit to have him open the pool on 5/15 but Due to a rude exchange via text David did not open the pool and returned our deposit. Another pool company was hired to open the pool on 6/2 and as soon as the cover was removed there was significant tears in the liner in multiple places and water was leaking from the pool as a result. The crack in the stairs was also present again. The contractor told us he could not open the pool and recommended we contact the company that replaced the liner. We immediately contacted David and he did not answer our calls but replied via text saying to call the liner manufacturer and that he was busy. He said he would try to come look at it when he had time but to call the manufacturer. We told him the issues were from improper installation but he did not take accountability. And has not returned any calls since STAY AWAY. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY. We had to pay someone else to correct his work and pay double. Every contractor who gave estimates said David's measurements were wrong and they had never seen such sloppy work. read more
