I submitted the below and never received a response. Here is a bullet point list of our recent experience with your staff in Norfolk MA. Service was completed to replace the salt cell. System didn't work. It was obvious it had never been tested. Christopher recommended another path that required additional service/parts - VERY expensive solution. My husband replaced a dollar fuse, and the system worked. We had a separate service request. The work done was not what was originally discussed (much less this time) The invoice arrived 20% higher than what was communicated via text, with NO detail (just flat fee) We asked for the invoice detail We received an invoice with two lines (service and parts) The parts did not reflect the parts used. It totaled $165 and had generic parts, some of which were not even used. The service hours did not reflect the time invested. Christopher stated he would agree to revising the invoice to reflect what he had listed originally in the text to my husband, as a "favor". He would not revise the estimate to reflect the actual work done or parts use. I stated that I simply wanted to pay for the job completed - parts and labor. I have all of this in writing via text. And, we tried to give him many opportunities to correct the invoice without any negative assumptions. In the end, we will pay our invoice. I just know, as a small business owner, your reputation is very important. If customers don't have confidence in the integrity of the work being done, it definitely limits the success of the brand. read more

Where do I start, so Matt Colace has closed my pool for 2 years now, maybe three. I have owned it for 14 years, and only time my pool was green is when Matt closed it. I asked about it and got some made up reason. So, I dealt with it, allot of work, allot of chemicals and money. But this past year, unlike the last 14 years, Matt did not put my pool cover on correctly and the cover tore. Need to lace cable thru some heavy vinyl straps to attach to a wall, he did it other years, not this year. Again he said he didn't have to do it, but did it last year. I open the pool. In addition the pool was lowered several feet, he said he did not do that either, although I know he left and was trying to do several pools at once. He could have just did the right thing and paid to have the cover sewed together. I thought this was bad, as he was quite combative with me. So when I opened the pool, the chlorinator did not work, I knew salt very low because I added three feet of water. But then I looked down and saw a cut wire going to the salt cell, I have pictures, and thought wow this next level. Was it out of just anger, or is this how he gets repeat business? So when my wife and son were splicing the wire together, my son looks on the ground and see a two inch piece of that wire on the ground that was obviously cut out. I have the wire and pictures. This has gotten out of hand, I gave him a chance to fix this spring, wouldn't call me just text. So now also my liner is pulled down in two separate locations, due to the pool being lowered too far. The initial problem of the green pool is probably because he does not put enough chlorine in it to close, same as the reason why he was rushing around between pools. He had asked me if I wanted to pay "cash" so to make little more money for himself he used less chemicals, rushed around draining my pool too much, and did not take the time to put cover on correctly. I assume the cash only option was for his pocket and to avoid paying franchise fees and taxes. Less chemicals means more profit, I put 6 gallons of chlorine in and took 10 days to clear it up. So that's about it, love to hear from you guys. Judging by his temper on such a small matter as sewing the cover, please inform me before you talk to him on this as an unscheduled visit to my house from him in a rage would not surprise me. Derek from the Providence team was amazing and very patient with me as a new pool owner. Even when I did stupid stuff like drain my pool or add 5 gallons of the wrong chemical he was there to correct my mistakes. I was out of town a month ago before a huuuuggeeee family reunion where our backyard (to include pool) would be the main congregating area. My wife called me in a panic the day before the big event while I was boarding my plane in The Netherlands, to tell me there was a big problem. Our pool had turned a weird shade of green and there seemed to be some sort of substance (later diagnosed as algae) on the inner walls of our grand in-ground pool. My last words before the pilot of the airplane directed everyone to turn their cell phones off was to call Pool Pals. Once I landed back in Boston, I immediately called my wife and she told me everything. She had called Pool Pals in a panic, but immediately calmed down when Justin answered the phone. His soothing voice reassured her that everything was going to be ok. No less than 53 minutes later, Justin came to our residence and immediately diagnosed the issue. He had told my wife he just left a training seminar (who knows why this guy needs training) his company was hosting, so he could get our pool up and running. First, he diligently vacuumed our entire pool. Then, he shocked the pool with 20 gallons of liquid shock, not the granular or powdered form. Then he meticulously brushed our entire pool. My wife even said at one point he pulled out a small tooth brush to get into the hard to reach corners, while playful joking that it wasn't his personal one. Justin saved our reunion and for that we will always be thankful. That day we signed up for their maintenance plan, so we don't have to deal with that pesky algae again. We have a larger, complicated pool, and they are able to get the pool up in running in a matter of a couple of days. They communicate very well, and are responsive to our questions and issues. The fixed price program is well worth it. In our first season before finding pool pals, we went through several other companies. I contacted, Derek Ward, of POOL PALS to clean my in-ground pool. When he arrived at my home, I was ready to sign a contract. I asked about the different plans he had available as I wanted to select one. He appeared completely unprepared as he did not have any literature or information available regarding plans or prices. He verbally told me to go look online for that information which I though was unprofessional. I mentioned that my pool had already been opened by another company and it had cost me $285. Since he would not have to do this would he be able to credit me. He said he would credit me one month's service if I were going with the Weekly Service Plan. On his website it stated that the Weekly Maintenance Service Plan would cost $198 per month payable over 12 months or total $2376. I have a salt-water pool which requires salt. His website states that if you agree to the Weekly Maintenance Plan the salt for this filter would be free. I received a quote from Derek for $223 per month instead of the $198!!?? This was a difference of $420. I inquired as to why the difference in price. He stated it was for the additional salt for the filter!!!! I reminded him that his website stated that the salt was included in the fee with the Weekly Maintenance Plan. Even if I was to pay for the salt separately, according to his website, the salt should only be $50.00 not $420?? Also, he only credited me $150.00 instead of the one month's fee!! I received a response from Derek regarding the difference in price of $198 verses $223. He said I was 100% correct regarding the salt. So, I thought the price would reflect the $198 as stated on his website. NOW he decided that he would still keep the price at $223 per month but the difference in fee would be for gas prices!!?? I received his name from my nephew. Derek opened his pool the beginning of May. He has a larger pool than mine and has many trees, so it requires more work to keep it clean. Since my nephew opened his pool the first week in May and will close it the middle of September Derek would have serviced his pool 20 weeks. He also charged my nephew $2376 for the season or the $198 per month. I, however, opened my pool much later. Derek would have only serviced my pool for 13 weeks verses my nephew's 20 weeks. I was paying $203.50 per week verses my nephew's $118.80?? Derek was also saving time and money as my pool was already opened. It appeared he was randomly selecting fees to charge me!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. HE CHANGES HIS PRICES ON A WHIM!!!! There are plenty of other pool companies who are more professional, reputable, honest and reasonable regarding how they conduct business and decide on their fees. read more

The others did not keep to the agreed upon schedule, did not address my primary concern, and overcharged me. Before establishing any working relationship with us, they let themselves onto our property without our consent and without even asking us, let alone giving us prior notice whatsoever, even though they had all our forms of contact info. Hard to even give one star when we didn't get to actually experience their services.. My husband Wesley called Pool Pals back in April to open up our pool and perform regular maintenance through the season after reading numerous positive reviews. The guy he spoke with, Eric, said they'd be able to get to our pool to open it the first week of June. We scheduled it and sent them info/photos of our pool and equipment, and they said they would call at the end of May. Well they never called, and the first week of June came and went. My husband called Eric to try to figure out what happened. He seemed to vaguely remember putting us on the calendar and did not apologize for "forgetting" about us. He then said he would speak to his manager to see what he could do to help us out and would call us back. We never received a call back. Highly disappointing as we had high expectations for what seemed like a reputable company. The next summer, I called Pool Pals and it took a huge weight off my shoulders. They taught me how to clean and maintain the pool and fixed my pump that was no longer working properly.
