We had a pool that was getting old and rarely used. We decided to have it removed to put in a patio, so we gave Pool It Out a try. We were concerned about our very narrow access to the back yard, but Bryce assured us they could manage. And indeed they did, and did so very well. Bryce gave me a lot of confidence that they could pull it off pretty easily. A lot of heavy machinery was used, so we were concerned about damage to the driveway and side yard concrete. But in the end, they exercised enough care to prevent any visible damage - only a few hairline cracks, which they warned us about before getting started. They also accidentally slightly gash the side of the garage, which they fixed very nicely and now you can't even see where it was. Considering how narrow the access was, I'm pleasantly surprised how well it all turned out. Also, they started the project early, handled all the permitting, and finished on time. They even cleaned the driveway and side access. The pool itself is now a well compacted patch of dirt, and we can't wait to get started on our patio project. read more

Arthur N. I had my pool removed in February 2016. They did a fine job of breaking up the concrete and bringing in dirt to fill the area. I am not happy with the fill that they provided. It so dense the no water will drain through it therefore the trees that I planted sat in water and died. I would recommend specifying the type of fill to be used. read more

Just had my pool removed by Lassiter Excavating/ Pool it Out. I found them on Yelp along with two other vendors who provided quotes for the job and Lassiter was the most cost effective and customer friendly of all of them. I am happy to report that the experience with the Lassiter Excavating team has been great. The project began on time and was completed without drama or complication. The team was hardworking from the beginning and worked efficiently and were responsive to requests to correct a problem that occurred (due to a miscommunication by me) . With all of the traffic and movement of tons of material there was the unavoidable spillage of dirt being transferred from the front of the house to the fill site, but all of this was cleaned and returned to the clean site that I had prior to the start of work. All of this done efficiently and without complication. All of the pool utilities were removed and disposed of with the electrical, gas and water hookups shut off, capped and remaining unwanted devices removed. The only thing left to do was to patch and repaint the stucco where the boxes were removed from the edifice. In all a clean job. The site assessment by Lassiter meant that there was no surprises on what would need to be done to assure access to the backyard by the equipment needed to demo the pool, remove unneeded equipment and back-fill the pool cavity....done without drama or problems. This phase of the project is now complete...strongly recommend that you consider these guys for your project. Special kudos for Bryce Lassiter who was my primary contact with the company who can be counted on to make sure that the project came in on time, on budget and meeting or exceeding all of my expectations. We struggled for years about whether to keep our huge in-ground pool or to get rid of it. The solutions we had heard of other folks using did not appeal, and many had had problems with the process. I found Pool It Out online, and liked the tutorial, and before/during/after photos they posted. I phoned the city building department, and found that while nearly all other pool removal companies require the homeowner to take out the permit, Pool It Out takes out the permit themselves, and thus assumes all liability. So I contacted them, and they sent out Carlos, who was a completely helpful contact/contract-closing person. I had two options with the removal. The lower cost option was to bash holes in the bottom of the pool, knock down the top three feet of concrete, and fill it all in, removing none of the debris from the property. We elected the higher cost option, which was total removal. Except for a couple of small pieces of concrete and tile that we kept for souvenirs, every shred of the rebar, piping, and concrete is gone. They refilled the hole with a much better grade of subsoil than is native on our property, and we elected to have the top foot filled with good planter mix. Except for that top foot of topsoil, the rest is compacted to 95%, and thus buildable. They had a soil engineer come out at the half-fill point and at the end to test this. They started and completed the job in 5 days. The workmen were courteous and efficient. They were very careful of all my plantings. I cannot think of anything about the process that could have been improved, and I am very glad to at last be rid of the pool. So it is a pleasure to post this glowing review for Pool It Out, and their parent company Lassiter Excavating. They are a class act from start to finish. This was so easy from start to finish. I put this off for a couple years thinking it would be a disaster, but Bryce made it easy. He came out right away, talked me through the process and provided a bid that day. Simple! Pool it Out got the permits and was on the job a scheduled. I live on a small court and, my neighbors commented on how nice the crew was; very accommodating when they were coming in and out. Carlos and the crew on time and very efficient. I have chickens and the corner of one of the coops was on material to be removed. The guys even filled it in with dirt so there wouldn't be a gap. Nice! I used Lassiter Excavating as a subcontracor on my pool installation in 2011. They dug the pool well but when they found rock in the ground, they immediately started ringing the register. Being halfway thru the dig, they charged me $230 an hour for another piece of equipment to dig into the "rock" which was mostly compacted clay soil. In total my job went from $7500 to over $10,000 and they screwed me big time on the extra cost. BEWARE! read more

I recently hired Lassiter Excavating/Pool it Out to remove my in-ground pool at my house. Instead of repairing the pool that was leaking, I decided to look into having it removed, and actually found Pool it Out here on Yelp. I trusted the great reviews I read, and my experience couldn't have been better. There was really limited access on my side yard, and the pool took up almost the entire back yard. Their crew showed up in full force on Day 1, and by Day 3, the pool was totally filled, dirt compacted and my front yard returned to the condition it was when they showed up. Yes, you heard me right.... despite all the equipment crossing my front yard, and their disclosure that they aren't responsible for damage to landscaping during the process, my front yard shows no signs of the amount of work that went on for 3 days at my house. They took normal precautions, and I have grown up around the construction industry, and been involved in it my entire life, and even I was impressed with the professionalism and great job Lassiter did. They started the job ahead of their original schedule, and completed it exactly on time as promised. I am now just waiting for my landscaper to be able to fit me in his schedule to complete my back yard. read more

We recently decided to remove our backyard pool. The house came with a pool that was in substandard condition when we moved in. We spent more than a fair amount of money bringing it up to operating condition upon moving in and continuing maintenance and repairs over the years. Eventually it became more of a liability than it was used and decided to remove it. We sought out several bids to have the pool removed, and ultimately chose Pool It Out/Lassiter. We have high standards for contractors working on our home/property after having had some major work done in the last 3 years on our home and have seen the gambit of great contractors to the truly unprofessional. From the bid process all the way through the removal, this company has worked in a timely professional manner. The representative who came to our home gave us clear concise bid for the work to be completely, the timeline and the price. The field workers showed up on time and worked faster and more efficiently than we have ever witnessed. The care and caution exercised around the house was stunning as our pool was a scant three feet from our home. All windows/french doors were protected from machinery and flying debris. The decking from the pool and surrounding patio was removed with the precision of a surgeon - allowing newer hardscape to remain unscathed, with the older cool deck patio cleanly removed. The area was compacted and graded to angle any water from rain to fall away from the house while awaiting the replacement patio. We had originally only planned for the company to remove the pool and associated decking, but we are now having them bid the drainage and replacement patio. We had a small aging pool in our backyard that we no longer wanted. Within only a couple of weeks after I contacted Lassiter Excavating (aka Pool It Out), the pool is gone and the area is ready for landscaping. They took care to adequately compact the fill soil, saved some of the pavers and rock I wanted to reuse, avoided damage to the hardscape I wanted to retain, and left a tidy and well executed landscape area. I recently used Lassiter Excavating/Pool it Out for pool removal. I highly recommend this group led by Bryce Lassiter and Carlos. The 'removal' filling process started on a Monday morning, and the job was completed by Thursday afternoon. The foreperson and technicians were very prompt each morning, tasks were well planned out, work continued throughout the day, and employees were friendly, informative, and provided suggestions as needed, for example the addition of top soil. Now the pool is happily gone (although there are good memories). I have a nice flat back yard area and feel relieved from pool maintenance, costs - PGE bill was $100 less this month due to reduced electricity related to pump, etc.- , drought issues, and safety worry (soon to become a grandma). The cost was quite reasonable relative to estimates from other services, and there was a good amount of top soil left over for future planting. Definitely recommend Lassiter if you are in need of pool removal. read more
