We ate here for a rehearsal dinner on a Friday night. The service was very good and friendly. We had the lobster bisque first. It was absolutely amazing and delicious. We also had Caesar salad, which was fine. The low point was the entrees. We all shared pieces of ours so we got to try multiple items. The steak was very overcooked. It was supposed to be medium, but was completely cooked through, to the point of turning grey in spots. The rack of lamb was also very overcooked, and was completely grey throughout. The steak came with shrimp, which were supposed to be grilled but came out cold and appeared to have been dredged in black pepper. All of the deserts were fine but not really anything special. I'm not sure if the food is better for small groups versus ordering as a large group but the entrees were not very good. read more

4 visits past three years. Once for Valentine's day, once for Restaurant Week, once for brunch (on a Groupon), once for dinner with friends last night. Last night had the filet, while wife had the stuffed chicken. The filet is served atop a bed of yukon gold potatoes and asparagus. Tasty. Nothing special. Service was just a tad slow but capable. Fried calamari starter was sublime. I must admit that the setting is quaint and romantic. Important-looking people dine here :-) Most conspicuous of P.G.'s challenges is in comparison to Tulsa's other top notch steakhouses: if you like a modern, noisy environment, Flemings is just across the way (highly recommended); if you prefer a stately, quiet dining experience, then Mahogany. For what it is, slightly overprices (steaks run $37 - 47 - 60; at the middle/ upper end, I'd rather the "prime" establishments noted) Never had a terrible experience. Ambience is a 5 as far as bar seating is concerned. Had a lovely luncheon with my daughter who 90% of the time is a vegetarian but she thoroughly enjoyed her eggs benedict for lunch. I ordered the salmon with balsamic reduction which was loaded with my favorite veges but I would have preferred 1/2 of the reduction sauce so I could taste the salmon and vege flavors better. I love sauces as accessories, but this one was excessive on this particular dish. Also, the fresh bread and butter is an added bonus. Overall, happy with our experience. read more

Previously 5 star revJews as a frequent prior customer are now reduced. The bar and lunch menus are gone. The now combined lunch and dinner menu has fewer choices, all at higher prices. There is now a "happy hour" menu Mon through Friday 3:30 to 5:30 with small items and drinks at lower prices. While Bar menu items like Hamburger are available on request, only prior customers would know to ask for them. Servers said that the menu changes were caused by produce shortages, a problem other local competing restaurants like nearby Bar Serra for similar items do not seem to be experiencing. read more

Polo Grill has been one of our favorites for years. However, tonight we we're completely disappointed. Our water was brought to us with glasses and one of the glasses had lipstick on it. I have not worn lipstick in months so it definitely was not mine. When I told our waiter he laughed! I then told him nothing about it was funny especially during these times with COVID! Then we had two dirty plates! The service was ridiculously slow! Maybe the lesson here is to not eat outside so possibly we could have better service. read more

Service service service! My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday here with another couple. The atmosphere was really nice and the food was excellent. They were patient and informative and helped us in choosing the perfect wine for the occasion. They even took my birthday cake to the back and cut it for us and put a candle in my piece for my birthday! Lovely ambiance outdoors. That was pretty much the only good thing. Service was insanely slow. Drinks came 15 minutes after we ordered them. Food took a half hour to come out. Our daughter had blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. The bacon never came and the blueberries just came atop the pancake, not cooked in it. There were no child friendly cups, only glassware for toddlers. I was thrilled to see eggs Benedict with truffle hollandaise sauce. It was probably the most bland, uninteresting entre I've eaten at a restaurant. (Probably because it was accidentally served to the table next to us twenty minutes earlier.) There were only two sets of silverware for four people, so we shared. (We knew it would take forever to get more if asked.) For how much they charge it was an underwhelming dining experience. My husband had previously been there for dinner with work colleagues and had truly enjoyed himself. He was entirely disappointed this time around. We will not be back. read more

Amazing experience. Such a warm , cozy and low-key atmosphere. The food was perfection and the drinks outstanding. It was a birthday dinner to remember. After we told out waitress that it was my birthday she brought us complementary champagne. For dessert we had crème brûlée and chocolate gooey cake, both out of this world. I was disappointed with the serve received Valentine's night. My husband and I had been here before just a few months ago after after we got maried. Several people had told us how wonderful this place was. The first visit the staff was attentive, but not over bearing. The serve was really good and so was the food. So we thought we would go there to celebrate our 1st Valentine's together as husband and wife. To our disappointment the serve was less than good. There was a limited dinner menu for Valentine's which was fine, but the serve was poor. My husband made the reservation about 6 weeks out and requested a booth. We were sitted at a table in the middle of the room next to a serve table were waiters and helpers were pulling napkins and other items from the entire time. It was not intimate at all. I notice we did not have a candle on the table like everyone else. My husband had to ask. The server was not friendly at all. The helpers walked passed us a couple of times never offering bread. When we final recieved bread it was not warm like the first time we ate there, plus no butter was sent to our table. Just before the entrees arrived, we noticed other tables were receiving knives for their steaks that showed up a few moments later. Not our table, when the entrees arrived, we sat there and had to ask for knives. Mind you, the server never came by to ask how was the steak or did we need anything else. But I did notice her standing in a walkway most of our time there. When the desserts came out, we had to flag her down to request coffee. Because again she never bother to check on us. It made a special night feel less than special because of the serve. Thank god the food was good. read more

Definitely one of the best brunches in town. There are few patios that can rival how pleasant this one is. The patio set up is allows you to bring your kids without worrying about bothering the child-free tables. The drinks are so good. Food is consistently delicious (something that's not always true about many other popular brunch places in Tulsa). The service including the manager is very considerate. We came here tonight for our anniversary dinner. We have been here several times in the past, and have had good experiences. However tonight was different. My husband noticed little pieces of broken glass in his mouth from his drink from the bar. The waitress said "oh I'll let the bartender know" and that was it. No apology. She was kind enough to ask if we wanted another drink, to which I replied no thanks after the glass. And we ended up being charged for the drink. Anyway, be careful if you order drinks from the bar. Came here to celebrate my + my best friend's birthday. I got the steak, which was disappointingly salty. It also came with asparagus (a whopping 3 stems) and mashed potatoes. For birthdays, they only give complimentary champagne, so be prepared to fork over extra $$ if you want a dessert. For $120+, this experience was really disappointing. It was a unique experience. My husband made reservations for my birthday (surprise to me), we arrived at our reservation time only to have to wait 15 minutes for a table. He had told the host when he made the reservation that we would be celebrating my birthday yet nothing was even said. I have to say it was an unusual feeling watching a table across from you being served complimentary birthday champagne and a small desert with a birthday candle. And yet my husband made special arrangements, made sure the staff knew about our celebration and then nothing happened. The food was great but unless you are a regular the staff could care less. I've been here many times, I have never had a worse experience as we did the other night. Asked to be seated outside on a very nice temperate evening. Waitress took 15 minutes or so to even greet us and then never came back. We got someone else's attention to take our drink and appetizer order and then they came with water and bread. We sat there for a while before deciding "fine ok I guess we will move inside so that way we can be served" and there is the waitress standing there talking with her coworker (there were almost no customers inside). Keep in mind it was shortly after 7pm when we arrived and they don't close til 9pm. By the time that we were able to finally place an order and receive our food, they were closing up shop. (We didn't order anything too crazy or modify anything). Our food was definitely on the colder side as if it had just sat on the line for a while and one of the entrees was overall just under cooked. The manager seemed young and as if she didn't know a thing about upper scale dining. Kind of just walking around with no sense of direction.. Overall, crappy experience and as a Tulsa native I can say that you're better off (for the price point), dining at McGills or Bull in the Alley, etc. I'm not sure if there was some kind of staffing overhaul but it's below par as is. read more

Why have I never thought about brunching at The Polo Grill?! My husband and I had errands to run in Utica Square on a Sunday morning and were thiiis close to walking into one of our more obvious choices for breakfast before hitting the shops. I'm so happy I took a quick second to hop on Yelp and check for an option to switch things up. I was happy to see Polo listed but still a little hesitant as they're not known for being a wallet friendly option. Not only does Polo Grill have brunch options at similar prices to most of our favorites around town, but they have affordable cocktails (around $7) and rotating specials to keep things interesting! On this trip my husband ordered the steak and eggs Benedict while I opted for the chicken chilaquiles. At first I was on the fence about the chilaquiles coming with chicken rather than the typical choice chorizo but after my first bite my worries subsided and I craved bite after bite of that delicious chipotle marinated shredded chicken on tomatoey drenched tortilla chips and bites of perfectly runny egg! My husband equally enjoyed his well seasoned steak (it is a steak house...), toasted English muffin, sunny side up egg and a hollandaise to convince anyone that hollandaise doesn't have to be thick and heavy. It was perfectly airy and bright with just the right touch of lemon to cut through the fattiness of the dish. I'm excited to have a new brunch option to work into the mix! read more

This was our first time eating here and it was a MASSIVE let down. All started with the absolutely terrible service. Ordered wine before entree arrived and it never showed before or during dinner. We asked the waiter to cancel it since it never arrived and the response was "OK". The steak was mediocre at best. The romaine salad was terrible. Wife's lobster bisque was borderline cool. The lobster tail seemed like it had been waiting to be brought to us for quite a while. This place is extremely overpriced and without a doubt highly overrated. Now...with that being said the GM was very gracious and offered us a gift card to come back and was very accommodating after she found out. The owner came to speak with us on our way out and was extremely apologetic and gave us a gift card to another of his restaurants. Very nice of them both to offer those. But honestly will not be back. For what we spent on dinner, their food was almost as bad as their service. Wine list is outstanding but their food is average at best. You. Should. Be. ASHAMED. I have never been more ripped off by a high end restaurant in my entire life. Tonight I entertained a group of 10, including some important guests. Jamie from Polo Grill, is mentioned by name only so we know exactly who didn't reveal there would be a hidden surcharge for putting us in the private room we did not request in the first place, in the form of a massively trumped up gratuity. But before we get ahead of ourselves, the first problem is my steak. The "cowboy" chop, the most expensive ordered by anyone in the group at $67 was WAY overcooked. Medium-plus being generous on my medium-rare request. Because I was entertaining guests, I was not in a position to make a scene and send it back. In my mind this is an absolute deal breaker for a high end restaurant, particularly one that pretends to be a steakhouse. Stop trying to be a hero, chef, and just get a digital meat thermometer. Works like a charm... But I didn't feel ripped off just yet. Four apps, ten soups and salads, ten entrees, desserts and coffees...oh and FIVE BOTTLES of Silver Oak. You'd think there would be some appreciation or at least get the bill right. The check comes and there is a 16% gratuity added. Okay, no problem as I pass my AmEx over, because that is actually reasonable. But what comes back for me to sign is a bill that has been covertly changed to 23%. Yes 23% mandatory gratuity ON TOP OF THE WINE! You have got to be kidding me. Again, being in front of guests I played it cool hoping to take care of it after everyone else left. Disappointingly the manager, a short brunette whose name I cannot remember, refused to take the burnt steak off. She graciously (sic) reduced the gratuity to 20% from 23%, which being on top of the wine and bad food is still outrageous. What a joke. If you have money in your pocket to burn, take your business to Mahogany which is less than seven miles away and has one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. They also have Silver Oak if you are so inclined to have a glass with your perfect steak. And if you're not in the mood to drive, Flemings is literally in the same parking lot as Polo and experience has shown you will be treated significantly better. P.S. I really liked the stone ground grits that came with the steak, my coworker thought the chili/soup was the best he'd ever had, and most people really enjoyed their meals. Ordered filet mignon medium rare-here is the bite- arrived rare & cool in the middle-tough-when I cut into it, striations indicate sirloin cut as filet(work in meat production). My first time to Polo Grill for a friends birthday. We had the private room. Highly recommended for group dinners. The waitress gave us her full attention throughout the whole dinner. We started out with cheese bread. Very delicious if you aren't watching your weight. I had the chopped Caesar salad and finished with the salmon tamales. This place is very fancy! I went in jeans and a jacket...I sure did feel out of place. But the chairs are super comfortable and the food was pretty good. Nice place with excellent steaks. The decor is a bit tired and old school, it had a very crowded feel to it. Prices were VERY high; $37 for an 8 oz filet, mashed potatoes and a few spears of asparagus. Salads were of average quality. The steaks were very good, desserts, also. Service was only ok for place at this price point. Waiter was attentive, but not pushy (a good thing). Bar service was very slow. Out of the 6 steaks we ordered, 2 were not done correctly. The issue was fixed immediately without fuss. I've dined at some of the best restaurants in the world. This is not one of them. 3/5 Stars for this well-known Tulsa favorite. Upon entering the place it has a very nice rustic feel to it- Enchanting. Turn the corner and a beautiful bar greets you with private booths all around. A very romantic and private setting for a lovely meal. Once you get past this point it seems a touch dated. Not terrible but the atmosphere changes enough to notice. This part reminded me of a restaurant you would find in a hotel. The servers were very kind and helpful but not polished. **Disclaimer we only had interaction with 4 servers, 3 of them were not what you would expect at this level of eatery.** The status is most likely why you would come here. If you have flown in a plane recently you most likely saw the awards this dining establishment has won in the magazines found in your "seat back". Or upon entering the front doors they are posted along the wall. These are not without merit the place is good. Just not what I expected. It seemed most were regulars and folks celebrating a special event. The Food: The food had very little to improve upon. Bacon Wrapped Lime Shrimp. My wife and I devoured these in a matter of moments and used the complimentary bread to soak up the remaining sauce. Blue cheese salads and romaine house salad were simple but very good. Salmon Tamale and Frenched Chicken for the entrees. The salmon was prepared well and the grits were some of the better I have had. I did not understand the tamale part of this dish it just seemed like salmon and grits to me. None-the-less, it was yummy. My lovely wife enjoyed the chicken, it was prepared "frenched" and was accompanied with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both meals were gone in moments. The Food Was Worth It. Reliable food and service. Call a day ahead to order their off menu chocolate mousse. It's decadent! I had requested a custom vegan dish. It was nothing special. My partner had scallops as appetizer that were slightly under cooked. Other than that we really enjoyed our entrees (scallops, pork chop, French chicken). I've been going to Polo Grill for years - since the late 1980's when I was in high school. I live in California now and upon return to Tulsa to visit family I usually take my family to lunch there. This time, the service was atrocious. What's going on here? Service used to be so professional. It was disjointed and slow at best. Despite making reservations days in advance for 6, the six of us were crammed into a table for 4-5 in the middle of the floor. My two guests from California were clearly surprised to get so "close" to my family members they had only briefly met before. My lunch entree was no special request, straight off the menu (fried catfish) and was completely wrong (I was brought chicken fried steak). It was not corrected until the other guests had virtually finished their meals. One of my guests from California clearly asked for "no potatoes" on her beef tenderloin. Her plate arrived containing potatoes. Pretty simple requests that went unhonored and unnoticed. In fact, the server didn't even offer to remedy the situation. The restaurant was filled with old ladies that our server chatted up and even sang to. We barely received passing glances. We ordered a $50+/- bottle of wine and were never asked if we wanted another bottle. In the past we had looked forward to a long lunch with at least a second bottle of wine. Not this time. Finally, it took several requests before our dirty plates were removed and to-go boxes were brought to the table. Next time we will head down the street to Lucky's or Palace Cafe on 15th for our Tulsa lunch tradition. No Thank you. read more

How is it possible that this place is supposed to be one of the finest restaurants in Tulsa - and perhaps even all of Oklahoma. The food was good - as you would expect for this price point. But the service was pitiful. There is absolutely no way I'll be back. For starters, the waiter who served us all night was a kid. I know I'm getting older, but I'm still in my early forties. Not EVERYONE looks like a kid to me yet. This waiter could not possibly have been older than 20. There is simply no way. And aside from the fact that he had good manners, he had absolutely no skill required for the kind of service one expects at an establishment like this. Examples - (1) He brought us an assorted cheese plate for an appetizer and failed to tell us anything about the cheeses or their accompaniments. That's not how you service something like this. You tell the diners what the cheeses are, what they are intended to be paired with, etc. Nothing from this kid. He just set it on the table and walked away. (2) I had to ask him three separate times - after each course - for new utensils. If you take someone's fork or knife, you replace it. As soon as possible. The bottom line is this: I travel all over the country. I eat at some of the best - and some of the most basic - restaurants in cities everywhere. I'm not a food snob. If you look at the reviews I've posted, you'll see there's a very wide array of restaurants represented. But when I pay $48 for a steak and countless more for all of the other parts of the meal, one thing I expect is VERY professional service. This is a restaurant resting on its reputation and its laurels. Never a good thing. Do yourself a favor and eat at a WAY better restaurant in the same shopping area - The Stone Horse.
