I'd say the food quality here is pretty consistent. You get more value for your buck with the bowls. The grilled chicken is better than crispy. My chicken was so dry it needed a hefty dunk of sauce. Pretty standard Pollo. A healthier alternative to traditional American fast food. read more

I always enjoy the food but today the drive thru service was exceptional !!!!! Bryan was the voice at the speaker to place the order. I could tell he was smiling right through the intercom and he was helpful and very pleasant. When I got to the window he and Mitchma were so very helpful and kind. I've left poor reviews about this location in the past. I'm giving a happy and pleasantly satisfied shoutout to the staff at Pollo Tropical who are doing things right on Tuesday, May 7. I ordered the Tropical Trio for pickup through the app with a promised 6:10pm pickup time -- and ((drumroll)) it was actually ready for pickup at 6:10pm and the order was 100% accurate. They also threw in extra curry mustard and salsa despite the app's 2 sauce maximum. Pollo Tropical was a South Florida staple in the '90's-'00's but lost their mojo a bit in the '10's with a lazier and unmotivated staff that made you feel like you were getting ripped off in a fast-food dive hole. Today's experience show positive steps towards a reawakening as a South Florida staple. The Tropical Trio is a sampling of everything -- churasco steak, marinated chicken, and mojo pork w/ rice, beans, and plantains. You order comes missing items and they already have the option of refund when you call to speak with someone. That means they have that issue all the time. Refund will probably take 7-10 business day like a standard thing. Now you really want what you order the option you have is place another order and pay again delivery fee and delivery tip (that's not correct) or you have to drive to the place to get those missing items, that what you already paid for delivery and tip doesn't make sense if you still have to go to the place to pick the rest of your order. I usually don't do bad reviews the food is amazing but I went with my grandmother who doesn't speak English and this worker "Gil" was horrible at customer service. He should definitely not be working for customer service with that attitude. My grandmother and I told him to pay separate and my grandmother gave him cash for her dessert and I gave him my card for my order ( which I told him was separate). He didn't give my grandmother cash back, tried to say I didn't tell him to pay separately, closed the door, then ignored us! I was glad that a lady who spoke Spanish but I didn't get her name was glad to help us and was a sweetheart. I'm only writing this review because of Brian, who handled the drive through this evening. My family and I have been coming to this location on and off for almost 10 years, and they're ALWAYS rude. Tonight was the first night someone was kind, patient and respectful. He apologized for a 2 minute wait- which is unheard of! It was only two minutes, but he was so nice about it. He made sure our order was correct and didn't rush us through the line, making suggestions as well. I hate to get my hopes up thinking that the staffing is turning around, but I truly hope so. We all probably know what Pollo Tropical is being South Floridians. But if you don't it's an amazing fast food chain for delicious grilled chicken, rice, beans and other Latin/Caribbean inspired dishes. The chicken is the star here. Always moist and flavorful and the black beans really rival any Cuban restaurant. The pricing is very attractive too. A family meal With a whole chicken, rice,beans and 4 rolls is under $20, of course they do have other dishes like the Tropichop which is rice, beans, meat and toppings in a bowl. The complimentary sauces are yummy. My fav is the curry mustard. The only reason I give this West Boca location less stars is that they run out of things a lot. I recently got a new steak Churrasco bowl with avocado on it and of course they had no avocado that night. The steak was super tasty though. Other nights they have been out of the sauces or other menu items completely. So that is a bit disappointing. But the food is very tasty so if you have not visited a Pollo tropical, stop by any one of their locations. read more

The last time we ate here we got take out and they didn't give us any sauces even though we had on our order. We were also yelled at for ordering dark meat only, even though that's an option on the app. So my husband was adamant about getting sauces this time. Unexpected, but the norm, the order was wrong. Tomomi decided to double everything, including the cost of the order, but maybe he didn't comprehend English. And, of course, I couldn't get my money back...a practice common at many fast food joints. This was another disappointing visit to this location. I ordered a whole chicken, missing one drumstick, but I gained two extra chicken wings. I wouldn't care because I love chicken wings, but I love the chicken leg better. It also appears I was missing one of the breasts. The food itself was still a little drier than it usually is, but it was tasty; the biggest disappointment of all was the gentleman at the window. I handed him a $20 bill, and he handed me back to change, and part of the change fell onto the ground at the drive-through. Had he paid attention to what he was doing, it might not happen; however, when he saw it fall to the ground, instead of offering me $.10 from the register, he said, "oh well, it's only $.10" well it's only $.10, it's still money, and if this is careless with a customers money, I can only imagine how he handles the companies money. I have had bad dining experiences at this Pollo tropical location several times but it is convenient because it is in a Lowe's parking lot. I always wondered why there were never any cars in the drive-through and after this last experience I understand why. Whenever I go in there I encounter a woman Who I believe is from the islands who thinks she is cute by saying give me all your money and joking around but I can't understand half of what she says. Most recently I went in for the Cuban sandwich that they have been advertising nonstop on television. What I received was not even close to a real Cuban sandwich. As I watched them prepare my sandwich on the dirty counter, I was praying I would not get sick. They don't even bother to wipe up and the food preparation area is filthy. The ham on the sandwich was ice cold out of the refrigerator even though they put it on a grill for 43 seconds. There was also no mustard on the sandwich and everybody knows that Cuban sandwiches have mustard. The sandwich was cut in half like a sub and not on an angle like a real Cuban sandwich, but it was the taste that I mostly took issue with. I was hungry so I ate half of the sandwich and took the rest home for my dogs. Later in the evening sure enough I vomited. This is absolutely the worst Pollo tropical location I have ever been to and it's nothing like the ones you find in Miami. I have finally learned my lesson and will never return. Moreover, every time I go there I receive a receipt offering me the opportunity to complete a survey but there is never a receipt code on the receipt at this location so you can't complain to corporate about the bad food. They stop making chicken around 9:30/10pm and if you go around 11 they are out of chicken and they are open for another whole hour, but don't plan to make more food. The past three times I went, I tried to order Mac n cheese and according to them it will take an hour for them to make more. An hour!? Really?!? Mac and cheese is such a simple food that takes no more than 15mins to make. How can they say it will take an hour to make? Some days I order a Quesadilla chicken salad and half the time they don't even put the quesadilla. It's a quesadilla salad! Anyways today was really the worst experience. I stopped at this Pollotrotropical yesterday for a basic lunch and I was inside the restaurant for at least 20 minutes waiting for my food. I don't understand why this place and all other Pollo tropical's don't have their stuff together behind the counter. Every single restaurant that I go to they seem to be extremely disorganized and the employees don't seem to care 1 ounce for the customers who are waiting. Customers were asking where their orders were and some of the employees just flat out ignored them and walked away because they didn't want to bother with them. I'd like to go through the drive-through but every time I have gone through the drive-through at Pollo Tropicale they screw up the order so I have to physically go inside explain to them exactly what I want and then they still screw up the order. I think one of the CEOs of this company needs to do an undercover boss and visit some of these restaurants and see how screwed up it is.
