There are a lot of staff around the restaurant, we were nicely greeted when we entered but even though it wasn't busy, we weren't immediately seated and after we were, no one came to take our order for quite some time. After we placed our order, the food came out at a good speed but then it took very long for our server to come back and check on us and someone else brought us the check. Our Colombian empanadas were delicious. Crisp crunchy cornmeal on the outside with flavorful filling on the inside. Try it with the tangy spicy sauce. My husband and I shared the Paisa Bowl. It was a good size for 2. Came with delicious sausage, steak, chicharron, fried egg, an arepa, a half piece of avocado, and plantains. My favorite was the sausage and the arepa. Unfortunately our medium rare steak was lukewarm. The flavor was good but wish it was hot like the bowl of beans it came with. The chicharron was a bit dry so it was hard to chew for me. This is a really cozy and homey type of restaurant. I feel like the staff truly cares. I sat at the bar while waiting for my friend who had to deal with difficult traffic. The staff was r we ally welcoming. We sat down and our server was happy to explain details of a couple dishes to my friend. I already knew what I wanted before walking in the door. We ordered Venezuelan empanadas on our server's recommendation. We had one cheese, one chicken, and two beef. I had one beef and it was real good My friend really enjoyed her beef and risotto. I also enjoyed my ceviche although I would have liked it to be colder. Anyway, the fish was fresh and I scooped up all the lime juice with a spoon. This is a nice place to eat. I called to make a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening and was told that I didnt need one. Now I know why. The restaurant was empty except for 1 family table of 8 with loud children. Of course the manager/owner (gentleman in his 40's) took 2 menus and guided us to a small 2 top right onto of the loud family table. We kindly said thank you but we would prefer to sit at the bar which was also empty. As the gentleman walked behind us, he loudly said to the server that "These people don't want to sit next to the other people". We found that to be pretty rude so we canceled our drink order and quietly left the restaurant. We figured that if it started out that bad and there was barely anyone dining on a Saturday night, we would be smart to go somewhere else. (Which we did). The food on the menu looked good but I was also hesitant when 90% of the restaurant pictures on Yelp were not taken by patrons, but by the marketers for the restaurant. If You Don't Like This Place, Check Your Taste Buds -- They Might Be Broken! Okay, I saw a couple of reviews from David Ramos and Gean Austin complaining about the food and service here, and honestly... I think those two must have accidentally walked into a parking lot instead of this restaurant. Because what we experienced was the complete opposite of whatever parallel universe they were dining in. Let me break it down for the people in the back I ordered the Paisa Bowl, my wife went with the Cachapa de Pabellón, and we kicked things off with the Chicharrones appetizer. And let me tell you something -- it was so good I almost proposed to the chef. The flavor, the presentation, the seasoning -- out of this world! The service? Second to none. We got greeted with a smile, seated right away, and within about 3 minutes -- yes, I timed it -- someone was at our table ready to take our order. And this wasn't some jam-packed dinner rush, either -- the restaurant was at almost zero capacity. That means they didn't just treat us well because they were busy; they treated us well because that's how they roll. Special shoutout to Francisco, our server, who deserves a raise, a trophy, and maybe his own fan club. The man was smooth, funny, and on top of everything. By the time we finished, I was full, happy, and wondering if I could legally adopt him as part of the family. I was very reluctant to come to Luka's due to the mixed reviews; however, I wanted to check it out for myself. Ambiance: a very modern, calm vibe, definitely has a brunch feel to it. Bossa nova music is a nice touch. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms; honestly, I felt very comfortable changing my baby there. Food Blackberry juice with milk: very rich, tasty, very refreshing. The milk definitely complements the juice nicely without overpowering it, striking the right balance of fruity and creamy flavor. Lentil soup: very well done, super hearty, they were not selfish with the beans. I love that they added a bit of shredded pork, which gave it a nice kick of flavor and texture. I recommend. Latin Luka: my God, this was such a great burger. I was really worried because, since this burger comes with chicharrón, I thought the pork in it would overpower the burger itself. However, it only added flavor. Not to mention, the house sauce with a dash of lime gave it this unique flavor that really had me in a bind. Service: our waiter Francisco was such a delight. He gave us great insight on each of the menu items we asked about, which is another thing I appreciate. Hospitality is something I value greatly in waiters. I am starting with dessert. Whoever decided that flan should be served on top of ice cream is just plain wicked! It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. I ordered Uber Eats from Luka because they were offering a buy-one-get-one free deal on their pabellón bowl, which includes ropa vieja, white rice, black beans, and a maduro with cheese. The food was packaged really well--no spills at all, which I appreciated. As for the flavor, the meal was just okay. Wow! My friend, Gina, suggested this place as a last minute get together and she, her husband, Mike, my husband, Chuck and myself dined here for dinner. It was our first time. There was a singer there that night and although Mike thought she was kinda loud (we could hardly hear each other) I thought she was very talented and enjoyed her choices in her repertoire of music. Nicholas was our waiter and he explained a lot to us for the evening. I chose one of his suggestions and enjoyed white rice, fried egg, steak, red onions and fries. It was really, really good! And my husband got a burger, the man that he is, but he really liked that they had Coke Zero (a lot of places we dine at don't offer Coke Zero). Gina and Mike shared steak and arepas and plantains with cheese. It was a delightful evening and I love that we chose something different - something that is not the norm for us. Came in for the first time on a Sunday for brunch. The place was packed! I love the decoration and the overall vibes. For the drinks we had the pistachio latte and a coconut lemonade. Both drinks were great. The mini Colombian empanadas we had to start were delicious as well. Tried this establishment three times and can't justify going a fourth. The service is absolutely TERRIBLE. Last time we went was for their brunch and the only way that I can describe it is that I guess some tables get service and some don't. We had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get waters, we waited so long for coffees that we forgot that we ordered them and if you purchase the bottomless mimosas you almost have to beg for a refill. None of the staff will actually check on you to make sure you are getting service, much less the manager. We were also charged gratuity on a table for two and it was not disclosed by the server or by their device they use to pay your bill, so the server essentially got a 40% tip. Pretty dishonest as well as disconcerting that any establishment charges this without disclosure. When we reviewed to receipt we had to contact the restaurant to have the tip corrected. read more

We also ordered cafe con leche( asked for it strong, it was def strong), also got hot chocolate, both were just right. The inside was nice and modern with a full liquor bar. Our party of 2 decided to dine here for lunch because I wanted to eat something different than I eat back home in Hawaii. Our waiter, Francisco, was excellent. He recommended the dish for both to eat since there was a variety of food - Parrilla Mixta. We added on the chicharron since my husband loves eating it. Checking out the new neighbourhood we stumbled on a little gem. Reminiscent of Boca one of our favourite restaurants in Miami we had lunch in Luka's . The service was great and the food very good. Maybe the tequenos needed a little more heat but the flavour was good. They gave us free mimosas and a little pouch of coffee as they are commemorating two years of opening this location. Came to Luka for breakfast and absolutely loved it! The restaurant was very clean and had a nice bar area. Nice quiet music was playing in the background. Our server, Carlos, was very attentive and took our order right away. He checked in on us every now and then throughout our meal. The coffee was great! Strong and flavorful. The entrees were also very tasty. I loved the good morning truffle omelette. The mushrooms on top were so yummy. The ban de pono waffle was great too. My review was based solely on their coffee as I haven't had a chance to eat here yet. However, the food menu looks amazing and I've seen other plates while I'm here and we are definitely going to try to place out. As for the coffee, it's fantastic! These guys actually care about making good coffee, and the presentation shows as well. In South Florida, most people are used to poorly made "Cuban coffee". Not here here they make actual espresso drinks. The interior is also very nicely decorated, and the staff has always been extremely welcoming. I think this was the first Colombian restaurant I've been to where the decor is modern and non-traditional, showcasing Colombian culture, but the overall atmosphere is very pleasant. Our service was excellent; the waitresses were extremely kind and helpful. We went on Labor Day, and it was one of the only restaurants open that day. Upon arriving, we were immediately shown to our seats. We were given water until we chose our dishes. We opted for - Carne Assada Bowl $17.95 (it was tasty overall, but the meat was a bit dry, and it came with lentil soup, which I didn't like, but my husband ate it all and liked it). - Paisa Bowl $21.95 (well-seasoned, and the meat was much juicier). We also ordered - Mini Colombian beef empanadas $9.95 (they were delicious, the dough was super tasty and crispy). - Portion of black beans $4.00 (probably the same seasoning as the lentil soup, which I didn't like, but that's a personal taste. Not that it was bad. When I added it to the rice, which was very tasty, the flavor of the beans became edible for me). We always have a good meal here. Place has an upscale vibe for where it's located. Some nights there live music. Outdoor seating options . Bar area is a fun place to watch the drinks getting made. The staff was friendly and provided me with a menu which listed a plethora of traditional Latin American dishes - Grilled Picanha, Arepas, Classic Ceviche and Birria Tacos. The La Cimbali espresso machine behind the bar was enticing. I couldn't help but to order a hot Italiano espresso for a few bucks which was delish. The bar made a strong impression with its overall vibe, but the bathroom was an unexpected standout in terms of design! Sometimes, the attention to detail in a bathroom can elevate the whole experience. The unique aesthetic of the bathroom tied into the rest of the space in a surprising way. Black floating sink with a brass faucet, black toilet and urinal with jungle themed wallpaper and designed ceramic flooring - basically it was a resort decor facility. Super nice and clean establishment, we were pleasantly surprised by the inside of the restaurant the vibe was cozy and welcoming. The service was A1. The menu had plenty of solid options to choose from. We started with the Luka Guacamole -- Plantains, chicharron, pico de gallo and smashed avocado was flames. I had the Lomo Provenza (an item not on the menu but our waiter suggested) and my wife had the Pollo Saltado . The food was fuego! The prices were awesome. We've ordered takeout from this restaurant several times and with somewhat mixed results, mostly good. The arepas are delicious - my favorite is the pabellon! The cachapas are also very good. We've also ordered the Paisa bowl a few times which is also good but sometimes comes with overcooked steak and eggs depending on how you ask for it. Four of us went for an early Friday night dinner, and it was our first time going to Luka. The restaurant was mostly empty at that hour, and so we didn't understand why it took so long to get our drinks and why the server couldn't remember who got what drink out of the three of us who ordered cocktails. When you are charging a service fee, you should be providing a certain level of service. It's Serving 101 to know who ordered what drink. The service fee is another issue, as the server did not point out to us that one was being charged. Luckily, one of us noticed it on the bill. In most places, the fee is circled or highlighted on the bill, or the server mentions it is included. It doesn't really bother me because I typically tip more than the 18% that was charged, provided the service was good. It was good except for the drinks, as I mentioned. Two of us ordered the picanha and were disappointed. The cut of meat seemed to be sub-par. The fried yuca came with a sauce, but there was only a very small amount provided. Yes, you could ask for more, but why? One of us had the soup and said it was good and I had the chicharrón, which was good. Again, it came with a very small amount of sauce and I did have to ask for more. Anyway, it was just ok, which is too bad. We are always looking for a great place to go as we go out every Friday and Saturday night, and this just wasn't it. read more

I have looked at this place every time we ate breakfast in the restaurant next door. My wife sent it to me on Yelp along with another place. It won't by default. We were just up the block from it. Now I wish we had here gone here sooner. Wow the food and the service were incredible. We started with some Columbian empanada, they were better then any place I've had them from before. I don't know what my wife had but it look really good. Now for myself I had the Picanha with a side of avocado and fried bananas. I could not believe how much I loved it. We also got a side of fried yucca. It's was cooked perfectly and didn't need any additional sauce for flavor. We rounded of our meal with icecream topped with flan. I really wanted to like this place since I've seen a few videos from them on social media. We ordered the Picana for two which came with three sides. We chose the fries, Cesar salad and baked plantains with cheese. The picana itself tasted good but a little over cooked. We asked for medium and out of the four filets we received, two of them were well done. On the menu, it said it came with two sauces; chimichurri and a hot sauce and we did not recieve any of the two. When we asked the waiter she nodded and never came back. She also did not come back with a side dish that was missing. They never brought us the plantains with cheese which I was excited to try. We asked her and again she disappeared, we never saw her again that night. They charged us for the plantains and when we said something the new waiter had to double check, went inside and took another ten minutes to come back with a new receipt. We decided not to even try dessert because dinner was so confusing and we were tired of waiting. I felt like the side dishes were also small for a sharing platter. The Cesear salad was enough for one person and so were the fries. They also charges us $4.50 for a few slices of avocado. Even though I liked the meat despite being overcooked, I don't think I will be back. Service alone was subpar. Parking is free in the plaza. read more
