Half 1/2 Chicken with 2 Sides Combo

This little gem is now my go to for Peruvian style chicken. This kind of place is really what the Yelp community is about in my opinion. Came here after I pulled into piada (my go to spot for a quick bite in the neighborhood) and looked it up on Yelp to see if it was worth a shot and I'm glad I got to try it. Let's get into it: First things first I got a half chicken with plantains and the avocado salad. The chicken was juicy and delicious, but the green salsa that comes with it is really what put this dish over the top for me. The plantains were cooked perfectly, and the salad was surprisingly good. All of that for only $15.00!? Will definitely be coming back.. Chicken 9.1/10 Salad 8.4/10 Plantains 9/10

Lomo Saltado. $16 for this.

$16 for this lomo saltado. Terrible. Service is not great either even for takeout. Wife got fried spicy casava and spicy fries it's literally not even cooked and they threw the whole paprika seasoning in this. We had to put them in the air fryer to make them edible. Definitely not returning.

That's one brave chicken

If Mel Gibson yelled "you can take our lives, but you'll never take our chicken!" it's be "Pollo Braveheart." This review has been heavily edited for content to make it more PG-13, by request, even though half of Yelp isn't. And if female diners get chafed while eating here because their upper-half undergarment is too tight, then that's "Pollo Bra-straps." What to get: Chicken with Salchipapa as a side. What not to get: Stuck being the side pollo of your Saltypapa. We love this place, and come often, so to speak. They offer some of the best Peruvian chicken out there. If you pick the right locations which are usually Hillcroft and Long Point and this one, you're talking about some of the best rotisserie chicken you can get. If you order correctly the prices are cheap, and the service at this particular location can be truly wonderful. It's located directly across from our fave tanning salon, and I intend to keep coming back regularly. Pollo Bravo is easily the best Peruvian chicken in Texas, of the ones I've tried. They have four or five locations (it may be more by now) and several of them serve delicious moist tender perfect Peruvian-Mexican Fusion rotisserie chicken with amazing green sauce, other locations do it less well. I don't like fusion food, but this is authentic traditional Peruvian with a little Mexican on the menu here and there, so it works. Nobody is butchering any cuisine here. It's the real sh**, and it's very affordable too. And if Barbie and some of her Los Angeles based, similarly-enhanced friends come here for a work dinner put on by their fave company, it'd be "Pollo Brazzers." Their sides are all excellent especially the Salchipapas (as opposed to Salt N Pepa... but don't push it) (as opposed to your Salty Papa... I know a good therapist?) which are delicious French fries mixed with hot dogs. It tastes a lot better than it sounds. Like my Aunt with the voicebox. The only negative is that I have tried their desserts, and while they are highly rated I didn't really love either of them. But then I don't come here for the desserts. I come here for the best Peruvian chicken and sides in Houston. If you think there's a better one in the state - Peruve it. Brief word for the person that complained (who does so because they are competing to have more reviews than me, not because there's anything wrong with my reviews) - every single time one of my reviews is taken down, I literally cheer myself up by writing 5 extra reviews immediately to make up for it, usually saving as drafts to post later. So keep it up, as you're helping me write more and post more! And if it were located in Siberia, it'd be "Pullover Bravo" because it's so cold. If it were greasy and caused heart attacks, it'd be "Pulminary Bravo" and I'd advise not eating here. And if it were the people that rigged the 2000 election in Florida, it'd be "Polling Station Bravo" and they'd get away with it. Again.

Chicken, fries, shrimp, taquitos, plantains

Ordered several things for dinner and they came promptly. We had the whole chicken, which was perfectly seasoned and super juicy. Also had sweet fried plantains, which are great mixed with the mexican rice and beans. Also enjoyed causa rellena (layer of shredded chicken between 2 layers of mashed potatoes), taquitos, and camarones a la brava. The taquitos were excellent - super crispy and doused with a delish green tomatillo sauce. I thought the causa rellena was a bit on the dry side. The camarones were tender and swimming in a copious amount of creamy chipotle sauce - this would go well with rice for leftovers. Service was friendly (we had called in for extra tomatillo sauce and they were very kind and helpful).

Yes. It is that good.

Pollo Bravo esta de vuelta!!! When they closed their location just up Memorial, there was much sadness and speculation. Now that they are back, there is much rejoicing. This is without a doubt one of the best places you can procure rotisserie gallus domesticus in the city!! Half chicken? Check. Fried plantains? Check. Spanish Rice? Check. Sultry, spicy, finger lickin' green sauce?!?! OMG CHECK!!! And soon they will have beer. Guess I have to come back. Darn. Start with the 4 taquitos. Apply green sauce. Thank me later. The chicken is slightly spicy and remarkably tender. The flavor alone on this is so delicious that when you pair it with dat green sawce...well...your taste buds will thank you in the end. The rice is warm, moist, and slightly al dente. The fried plantains? I kept eating, and eating, and OMG STOP EATING THEM ALLLLLLLL!!!! So in case you cannot tell. You need to eat here. Sooner rather than later.

Poor service.. went last night drove 30 min raving to a friend about the food. We got there at 8 pm hours said they close at 9. A couple was walking out of the door pissed off saying " they didn't even greet us" we went in after them and nobody was in the restaurant.. walked over by the kitchen and asked if they were open. The lady didn't even respond... so I asked in Spanish, still no response. Another lady came in from the back room and says we are closed. I told her google says 9 pm. She said oh well and walked away. So we left understanding why that couple was mad.. went to Mambos and had a dope ass dinner with great service.

I've already contacted uber eats about the way this was delivered to me, but I now want to speak about the taste of the food. As a Peruvian and a traveler everywhere I go I take it upon myself to go on the hunt for good Peruvian food. So to have heard of this place and then see good reviews I said why not. Here's where I knew it wasn't going to be up to par, one it's a "Mexican, Peruvian" restaurant. You can't compare the two none the less try and cook both in the same place. Lomo saltado is such a trade mark meal for us and the taste is just not it at all. The rice taste like I got it from a Chinese restaurant the meat is extremely chewy and I could've made these French fries myself, this plate is supposed to be full of flavor but it isn't. Almost as if it was cooked fast I'm not sure but IT IS NOT PERUVIAN FLAVORS. As far as the "chicha" again another Peruvian juice I often look forward to drinking because it's so refreshing, this chicha tasted like water and some color. No type of flavor and nothing what I'm use too. Highly disappointed and quite frankly a disgrace to real Peruvian cooking!

1/4 chicken, green plantains, Mexican rice. That sauce tho!!!
Nikki T.

The best chicken you'll ever eat. So tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. But somehow the sides are just as good. This is the perfect plate of food. I have never had a bad meal here. I don't normally stray from my usual order of 1/4 chicken, green plantains (tostones), and Mexican rice because it's so perfect. When I do, it's because the staff knows that everything else they serve is equally delicious and that I should try something out of my comfort zone. The sweet plantains are also yummy but I prefer the salty crunchiness of the green plantains. I love the causa rellena and the taquitos too. I could drink the green sauce by the gallon. I put it on everything and always ask for extra. This place has a very homey vibe. They're so nice and the food is like nothing else. Come here and try as much as you can. You won't be disappointed!

Happy Cinco De Mayo! A place I grew up in as a little girl in Beaumont but never have I've visit this "original" location. Stepping in to this spot felt like a restaurant in the country of Mexico. I ordered the El Henry. I absolutely loved my dish, only thing I would've chance was the cheese enchilada definitely would've swap for a chicken or beef one, or maybe even a flaunta. I really like the Mexican rice, it had little potatoes and carrots in it. Some of the best Mexican yellow rice I've had. They offer a cinco de mayo drink special. The only thing that seem to make it special was the drinks apparently were limited edition menu items. Nothing was special about the prices. The regular menu drinks were a dollar(s) less. The margarita I ordered first was peach coconut. I didn't taste the coconut at all. I swap for the peach strawberry ($14 or 15) which was great, sweet& strong. One did me just right. You get to select up to two flavors for additional $2 (for both verse each, that's a plus. Not worded on menu). If you select a third flavor an additional $2 would be added ($4 in total) I appreciate separate tickets provided after confirmation and no additional gratuity automatically added, which he got tip equally the same or more. When asked about the "empty" patio that was available, he informed us that the entire deck was reserved. Upon departing I noticed from the parking lot individual tables, of separate parties were occupying only 3 tables. It was 8 of us sitting at 2 tables. Which the table was pushed up against the wall, and one side was inaccessible, which took away spacing. Service was lovely space was really tight. Good thing some of the ladies didn't order full meals. Definitely wouldn't have been able to fit every plate.

Ambiance: upon walking in, it was chaos and sooooo many people standing up and sitting down. Walking around with drinks. I felt like I was in a club. A server made her way to me to take my Togo order. While waiting, I grabbed a drink at the bar and just made the happy hour cut off. Service was great as I was able to get my order and it was a large order. Everything was correct. The house margarita was ok, I wish I had gotten the hibiscus flavor. Order; Crab Tostadas Mixed Fajitas Snapper Mole Enchilada Ninfa 2 Tacos Margarita Mix The only thing I would order again is the crab tostadas and the beef fajitas. The chicken had no flavor at all. The charros beans and rice were not anything special. I was not a fan of either. Overall, we are not planning to order from here again. It just wasn't what Mark Weins made it seem like on his review. Also, whoever the driver was practically could not wait for me to turn around. Sorry, I had to take a pic. Very rude.

For drinks, my husband and our friends tried some of the margaritas from their large and unique margaritas menu, as well as their hibiscus agua fresca. All of the drinks were very pretty and it seemed like everyone enjoyed them, too! We started with their chips and salsa trio, which we all really liked. The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! We got a quatro leches and two ordered of their giant and amazing churros. Both were incredibly tasty and reason enough to return for another visit in the future!

It definitely is enough for 2. The meat melts in your mouth. EVERYTHING is better quality than here. Teo charged $1.50 for perhaps 4 or 5 slices of lime to make the happy hour margaritas made with a gross mix drinkable. That's outrageous. It reminds me that I had stopped going long ago when they charged extra for onions on enchiladas. Come on. You don't charge extra for chopped onions! I have never been to another restaurant that does so. Some even provide carmelized grilled onions gratis. I'm convinced that a $15. YUMMY mango margarita at Pappasitos would have given us the same buzz & tasted better than 8 happy hour margaritas here. I used to love the in house made flour tortillas at Teo. We also got the "Tiradito de Hamachi" crudo, which was fresh and delicious! For the entree, my friend and I shared the tacos (which comes with your choice of 3). We added an extra taco to make it 4. I was genuinely shocked that the mushroom taco ended up being my favorite because I almost always prefer meat, but it was THAT good. The fried shrimp taco was also amazing. For dessert, we got the tres leches cake. I'm usually not a huge fan of strawberry or fruit toppings on desserts, but the cake itself was really, really good. I ended up just removing the strawberries and eating the cake, which was moist and flavorful. The only downside for me was the drinks. They looked larger than they actually were because of the glassware, and they tasted a little watered down. I had two, and they just weren't very strong or super flavorful. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
