Spicy Crispy Chicken Wrap with Fries
Jonathan S.

I guess there's budget cuts for this location because not only is there not enough fries but the wrap gets smaller each time...

I ordered a plate of chicken fingers with sauce, toast, and a drink, and I was honestly shocked by how good it was. The prices were great, and the food was amazing. I had it delivered through DoorDash, and even then, everything was still fresh and exceeded my expectations. Definitely impressed and will be ordering again!

I've always passed Layne's and told my self I would have to try it! Service was nice through the drive thru, easy ordering. Also, price was cheaper, if not comparable to Cane's. The things I didn't like about this meal would have to be some aspects of the chicken tenders. They were super small. I could understand if one was small but every single one was little. My bf also got a combo and his tenders varied in size. Also, the breading was a little chewy for some reason. The chicken itself tasted good and the fries/sauce/bread were all good as well. Overall I would definitely come again if I was in the area!

Go ahead and add Layne's to your list of top chicken finger joints in Houston. We tried the spicy and regular 5 piece tender baskets which came with fries and Texas toast and your choice of dipping sauces (try the Layne's sauce and jalapeno ranch ). Both flavors were juicy and seasoned well and the spicy had just the right amount of kick to it. The milkshakes were also a great sweet treat to compliment the meal, we had the strawberry and (my favorite) salted caramel

Fingers were juicy and had great flavor. Really like the Layne's Sauce to complement the fingers. Fries were better than average in both thickness and flavor. Texas toast was great too. Service was fast and courteous. Nice background music.

The 5 Finger Original (Spicy)

A lot of my friends have been raving about Layne's so I had to give it a shot! I tried their 5 finger combo and I liked that they had a spicy option. The tenders were seasoned pretty well (not very spicy), though I do wish the breading was a bit crispier. I loved the variety of sauces you could choose from; I'm a big sauce guy. I tried the jalapeño ranch and it was creamy and savory. The crinkle cut fries were nothing to write home about. The toast was very plain too. I do think Layne's is better than Cane's though because of the sauces and seasoning of their chicken.

I'll say this first, yes- this is better than Canes. I love that it has a spicy option. The breading is crispy, the meat it juicy, the sauce is peppery, and the fries are crispy as well My only knock is the staff wasn't the most friendly, and there was an awkward iPad screen in the front window, it doesn't take payment, it only serves as a place for you to tip. I found it a turn-off. It's a fast food place, why would they a want to do that in a drive through?

Ordered the spicy 3 finger meal which came out really fast and also really hot! The chicken wasn't spicy, but was still yummy, and was on the juicier/more tender side of chicken places I've tried!! (I just wish that the pieces were bigger). The toast was also very nicely buttered, and the fries were decent/came with a good amount!

Got the 3 meal combo regular because im not into spicy. Was good flavor wise however one of the chicken pieces was so small! Also i got a coke but they gave me diet.

These are easily the most delicious wings I've had in a LONG time. 87 flavors is ridiculous but I…read morewant to try them ALL. I didn't catch the name of the gentleman at the front but he was super easy going, professional and patient with us while we decided why to get since it was our first time. The inside reminded me of a place in Austin where there's signatures from everyone who's visited on the inside, it's small and not a lot of place to sit there's like 5 seats but it's still chill to eat there if you fit, will absolutely be back!

I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of wing flavors they offer here. There are…read morea lot of options on the menu and it honestly took me a minute to decide. I'm a pretty big wing fan, so I was excited to try this place out. They have a list of their top flavors posted right in front of where you order, which made it a little easier to narrow things down. I ended up picking two from that list. I went with the garlic parmesan wings and the lemon pepper buffalo since those seemed to be two of the more favored options. I was slightly disappointed because with the amount of flavors they have, the sauces and rubs were good, but the wings themselves were not cooked crispy. They were a little on the softer side and slightly undercooked for my taste, which is why I ended up deducting a star. If the wings had been fried a bit longer and had that crispy bite, this probably would have easily been a five-star experience for me. I ordered inside and the customer service was really good. The staff was friendly and my food came out pretty quickly, which I appreciated. Flavor-wise everything was solid, so the potential is definitely there. I also snapped a picture of the menu because they run different specials throughout the week. Unfortunately I came on the weekend, so I wasn't able to take advantage of any of the weekday deals. The wings are a little pricey, but honestly that seems to be the going rate for wings these days. If I come back, I would probably just ask for the wings and fries to be cooked a little longer so they come out crispier. I'd also be curious to try more of the flavors since they have so many. I may stop by on their $0.87 wing day just to sample a few more and give them another shot. Overall, not bad

We visited Armadillo Palace for a full restaurant buy-out event, and we liked it. The food was good, and there was plenty of food to try--my favorites were the shrimp gumbo, shrimp empanadas, and the pork tacos. The margaritas were also great--apparently, all of their margaritas are skinny margaritas.

Now I've been to their sibling restaurant across the way Goode company seafood and it is rated GAF (good as f***) so to say the least. I had expectations. Service was kind of slow for them to not be busy. We started with as appetizer which was the guac. They do guac different but it tasted good. Now my food was mid o'clock. I ordered fried okra, a fish taco and fries. Fries are a miss, I don't like the breading, fish taco was good and the okra was absent of seasoning. The chocolate cake taste as though it came off the sodeco truck was defrosted and covered with candied pecans. I can skip dessert next time. I guess a positive was they atleast serviced it with blue bell vanilla ice cream. Now less than great food but I'd definitely come back for the venue and or the bar.

We snarfed a couple Alamo plates with a plethora of goodies, brown rice, shredded kale, TX blend of shredded cheeses, cherry tomatoes, black beans, diced red onion, tortilla chips, roasted pieces of chicken thigh and a killer chipotle-lime vinaigrette and a squeeze of lime....came with a slice of sourdough.....amazing. The girls both got Meditteranean protein plates, white basmati rice, roasted pieces of chicken thigh, mozzarella-tomato salad, warm chickpeas, roasted broccolini, hummus, tzatziki spicy harissa, yum. Our granddaughter got her own plate, a bento box wit' grilled brussel sprouts, grilled cauliflower, brown rice and grilled chicken which she kept trying to feed to grandma. The Kids meal was half price. We shared three cookies between 3 adults and 2 grandbabies, one L&G cookie, a brownie and one rosemary shortbread cookie. Everybody got to taste my berry smoothie. Everything we tried was very good. We'll be back for more of these "healthy" goodies.

Leaf & Grain is the spot to satisfy those cravings. This West University location is easy to find and it located on a corner of a large shopping strip. Parking is plentiful. Inside is spacious and is warm and inviting with lots of seating. Counter service is how they run business and they do it well with a great customer service. As I'm sure you've guessed from their name, they specialize in salads and grain bowls. The menu is not big by any means. A little more variety would be great. Both the salad and grain bowl categories have about 3 or 4 options each. They also have 3 plate options as well with chicken or seafood. If you're in the mood for a sandwich they have a few of those options as well. My eyes locked in on one of their seasonal warm bowls. In the summer months, they have cooler, cold options. My eyes locked in on the Massaman Curry. I'm a sucker for Thai flavors and this bowl was calling out to me. It came with a bed of brown rice, topped with chicken, peppers, onions, cilantro, spinach and topped with a curry sauce. They also gave a chili powder on the side if I wanted to make it spicy along with some peanuts. Yes please! The bowl was presented nicely. I mixed it all together and added a dash of the Thai chili powder. This dish was delicious. Not trying to be funny, but I wasn't expecting that much flavor coming out of a dish from a grain and salad spot. The ingredients were fresh and the curry was so flavorful. I tasted hints of coconut that made it slightly sweet, but it packed some heat to it as well. I loved the contrast in textures as well. I washed it down with a Mango Deck (mango, strawberries, banana, agave and coconut milk) smoothie which was a perfect, refreshing sip to go along with the spicy meal. Overall, I liked this place alot. Sometimes it's nice to have a meal without having a guilty conscience afterwards. I will definitely come back if in the area.
