Employee ordering food, no problem- right? If it doesn't take 7 minutes
    Creme D.

Service was horrible. We stood in line behind an employee ordering his food, which took over 6 minutes with no since of urgency or respect for other patrons. He is laughing and joking, asking the cashier if he has tried different items... very unprofessional, I am visiting from California and will never return to this location. I am writing this as I wait for my food... yes, I waited- it's after 11pm and I'm starving

A lot of Whataburgers have gone downhill in the past few years, but this one seems to have retained it's commitment to service and quality. I stopped by on "National Whataburger Day". Yeah, it was crowded, there was a line, and we were waiting, but of course that's going to happen when they're running a special. I was promptly greeted, they verified the name on the order, and they had it out to me in a reasonable amount of time-- faster, in fact, than other locations that were completely empty when I've come by. The burger was decent quality, customized to order (love that creamy pepper sauce) and the fries were fresh cooked. It reminded me of why I used to love coming to Whataburger regularly before some locations completely fell apart in recent years.

On Sunday, we drove through here. They now have employees taking orders outside. The employee said they are trying to do The Chick Fil a thing. We ordered and had to drive up. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. Someone brought our drinks and after awhile, what we thought was our food. It was under the name of John which is the name we used. Unfortunately, it was another John's order. Nothing we ordered at all. I called the restaurant and spoke to Claudia. She was helpful and said she couldn't find our receipt. Thankfully, we put it on our credit card. She suggested coming back on Tuesday after 5 when she'd be there. I did just that and she wasn't there so spoke to the general manager. Rude. No greeting, no smile, nothing. I explained to her the whole story and showed her the bank charge. She said they could cook us the food. I declined that offer and told her I just wanted a refund. I told her she could put it back on our card if she wanted. She said she would have corporate do that. I told her no, that I had worked all day, went home, and drove back there as Claudia told me to get a refund. I told her what we ordered and the total came out a bit less than what they charged me. I showed her the bank charge again. She reluctantly agreed to give me my full refund. So, they must have overcharged me originally, brought us the wrong food, and made me come back for the refund which she did not want to do. I told her had I been offered by Claudia when I called on Sunday to have my card refunded, I would have taken that option. I do not mind when mistakes are made, that is life. I do mind how it is handled afterwards. Whataburger needs to take a page from chick fil a and their superior customer service. We will never go back to this location. Poor management.

Not to be confused with Whopperburger, which is basically Burger King. Or Wannaburger? which is the question that usually precedes a trip here for Barbi and I. This is the Whataburger right next to our house, and on several occasions they've done a great job with the food and it's been hot and delicious, and that's why I give them a good rating. However, I can't go above three stars because of the way they treat their employees in the morning shift on weekends - it's disgusting. The boss who is an older female is heavily abusive to all those below her, and since she's white and 95% of them aren't, it actually looks really bad on multiple levels. But even if everyone there was of the same ethnic background, it'd be very ugly to watch. It'd still get 3 stars for the high quality of food we've received here, despite that which I just described, but it goes down to 2 because sometimes the drive thru is very unreliable, for example when it looks like they're open, all lights on, and so on, and you'll sit at the drive thru for 10 minutes and nobody will answer.

I just got home and I'm so upset that none of the things that I specifically ordered for my modified sandwich is not on here. I was charged extra for avocado (which is expected) however you'll see that in my photo, that there is no avocado. I asked for NO mayonnaise or Whatasauce and to add mustard INSTEAD. As you can see in the photo, they didn't add that either. Lastly, I asked for pickles to be added, and there was no pickles. I work in the food industry too, I get mistakes happen. This is still very upsetting since I did not get at all what I asked and paid EXTRA for.

We heard about Whataburger when we travel to Houston so we found one close by to try. We got the jalapeno & cheese whataburger, regular whataburger, avocado bacon burger, and fries. They were all pretty mid, as the young kids would say. Not uneatable but comparable to Mcdonalds quality in terms of presentation and taste. I thought it would be more in the league of shake shack or even in-n-out burger but no. Needless to say, the coworkers that recommended this place got an earful afterwards. Overall, this is not too special. Just an alternative to Mcdonalds.

Layne's still holds the top spot for me, Raising Cane's is a close second, and Whataburger offers the best value. A Google search led me back to Skeeter's. I've been a Skeeter's fan for decades, but after my go-to Sugar Land location closed, I hadn't been back in quite a while. I've always loved their burgers, tacos, and weekend breakfast, but I couldn't remember ever trying the chicken tenders. I stopped by about 45 minutes before closing and ordered the tender basket with fries, toast, white gravy, and a drink. The meal came out piping hot, but every single tender had the same problem--the breading completely slid off the chicken when I picked it up, even after letting it cool for several minutes. The breading was crispy and flaky, but had an odd pickle juice flavor that just wasn't for me. The chicken itself had a texture that felt barely cooked, which made the meal even harder to enjoy. The fries were just okay. What surprised me most was that, with only a few tables occupied, no one ever stopped by to ask how everything was, even though what appeared to be the manager was walking around preparing for closing. I would've gladly shared my experience. This visit won't keep me from coming back, but next time I'll stick with what made me a Skeeter's fan in the first place--the burgers, tacos, and breakfast.

Their claim to fame was being the first establishment to serve bison burgers along with beer before offering anything else. Once Bubba sold the place to one of his VIP customers, it's been run by the same family ever since. This is truly one of the most old school buildings one can find in the greater Galleria area. The view of highways and parking lot pot holes is admittedly somewhat depressing, but there is a certain nostalgic charm that only a place like this can capture. The seating situation is outdoor / patio only, which makes this a tough spot during warm weather days. The indoor area is reserved only for the staff, consisting of mostly young folks hustling to keep the food going. Avoid using the restrooms if possible, it's one of their roughest patches. Today, the menu is still very simple, consisting of mostly burgers and sandwiches with some fries, and miscellaneous sides like frito pies, potato salad, and onion rings. The burgers are $8.25 a patty, along with $10.25 for the bison. Their burgers are $11-16 each, which may not sound crazy nowadays, but feels pricey considering the portion. Throw in extras like bacon ($2.25), a fried egg ($1.50) chili ($2.50) etc. and it'll add up quick. Thankfully the food is consistent and tasty. Their frito pie burger ($12.25/14.25) is rarity in the HTown burger world, and I have high praise for their patty melt ($11/13). Still, I can't help but enjoy their simple, but pricey double cheeseburger ($17.50) and wolf it down with their very crispy fries. I think I could just focus on the latter and be extremely pleased. Parking can be a little wild. There are no defined areas in the gravel pit(s), and there is a massive pothole that looks like a crater. Missing the turn for this place makes it hard for anyone to turn around, so it's not inconceivable to think they've missed out on a lot of potential customers as a result. Any burger lover owes it to themselves to give Bubba's a shot at least once. While the bison burgers don't taste significantly better than the beef, their food is still worth the occasional splurge with good company on a cool weather day.
