A lot of Whataburgers have gone downhill in the past few years, but this one seems to have retained it's commitment to service and quality. I stopped by on "National Whataburger Day". Yeah, it was crowded, there was a line, and we were waiting, but of course that's going to happen when they're running a special. I was promptly greeted, they verified the name on the order, and they had it out to me in a reasonable amount of time-- faster, in fact, than other locations that were completely empty when I've come by. The burger was decent quality, customized to order (love that creamy pepper sauce) and the fries were fresh cooked. On Sunday, we drove through here. They now have employees taking orders outside. The employee said they are trying to do The Chick Fil a thing. We ordered and had to drive up. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. Someone brought our drinks and after awhile, what we thought was our food. It was under the name of John which is the name we used. Unfortunately, it was another John's order. Nothing we ordered at all. I called the restaurant and spoke to Claudia. She was helpful and said she couldn't find our receipt. Thankfully, we put it on our credit card. She suggested coming back on Tuesday after 5 when she'd be there. I did just that and she wasn't there so spoke to the general manager. Rude. No greeting, no smile, nothing. I explained to her the whole story and showed her the bank charge. She said they could cook us the food. I declined that offer and told her I just wanted a refund. I told her she could put it back on our card if she wanted. She said she would have corporate do that. I told her no, that I had worked all day, went home, and drove back there as Claudia told me to get a refund. I told her what we ordered and the total came out a bit less than what they charged me. I showed her the bank charge again. She reluctantly agreed to give me my full refund. So, they must have overcharged me originally, brought us the wrong food, and made me come back for the refund which she did not want to do. I told her had I been offered by Claudia when I called on Sunday to have my card refunded, I would have taken that option. I do not mind when mistakes are made, that is life. I do mind how it is handled afterwards. Whataburger needs to take a page from chick fil a and their superior customer service. We will never go back to this location. Poor management. read more

Not to be confused with Whopperburger, which is basically Burger King. Or Wannaburger? which is the question that usually precedes a trip here for Barbi and I. This is the Whataburger right next to our house, and on several occasions they've done a great job with the food and it's been hot and delicious, and that's why I give them a good rating. However, I can't go above three stars because of the way they treat their employees in the morning shift on weekends - it's disgusting. The boss who is an older female is heavily abusive to all those below her, and since she's white and 95% of them aren't, it actually looks really bad on multiple levels. But even if everyone there was of the same ethnic background, it'd be very ugly to watch. It'd still get 3 stars for the high quality of food we've received here, despite that which I just described, but it goes down to 2 because sometimes the drive thru is very unreliable, for example when it looks like they're open, all lights on, and so on, and you'll sit at the drive thru for 10 minutes and nobody will answer. read more

I just got home and I'm so upset that none of the things that I specifically ordered for my modified sandwich is not on here. I was charged extra for avocado (which is expected) however you'll see that in my photo, that there is no avocado. I asked for NO mayonnaise or Whatasauce and to add mustard INSTEAD. As you can see in the photo, they didn't add that either. Lastly, I asked for pickles to be added, and there was no pickles. I work in the food industry too, I get mistakes happen. We heard about Whataburger when we travel to Houston so we found one close by to try. We got the jalapeno & cheese whataburger, regular whataburger, avocado bacon burger, and fries. They were all pretty mid, as the young kids would say. Not uneatable but comparable to Mcdonalds quality in terms of presentation and taste. I thought it would be more in the league of shake shack or even in-n-out burger but no. Needless to say, the coworkers that recommended this place got an earful afterwards. I am updating my review based on a more recent visit to this location. I visit this location because I know it. That's all there's to it. Whataburger is everywhere, but this one reflexively comes to mind. Could it be that I really want to be in close proximity to Lakewood Church? Probably not. Most of the times I've eaten here, it has been at night and you can barely see it. This service ran a fair bit slower on my last visit here. It took longer to receive my order, though I do appreciate that they bring it to your table. The bigger gripe has been that there has been some apparent consolidation in the menu. I had gone in intending to order Whataburger's #16 combo that they had a few years ago. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with Monterey cheese and mild green peppers along with french fries and a soft drink. Instead, I had to get a Southern bacon grilled chicken sandwich that was being featured. It was fine, but not as good as the chicken burger in the #16 combo. There seem to be fewer chicken burger offerings and the ones that are crispy and deep-fried are immediate write-offs for me. That leaves fewer grilled chicken sandwiches with a nice ensemble of ingredients in them to choose from. I already mentioned that the service was good, despite their being busy, though most of the busyness appeared to come from the drive-through. Since this location has a clean and simple interior with good lighting, I am always a dine-in customer. Lastly, the prices are in line with the value received. So, I'm giving this Whataburger 3 stars. However, I'd say it's a strong 3 stars because I wouldn't argue too much with going back at some point. However, I wish that Whataburger would revisit their menu and combination offerings in comparison to what they looked like before. read more

I went to Houston Texas for a vacation from the east coast and always loved Whataburger I only get it when I go down to Texas or anywhere in the Southern part of the us. I went to this Whataburger every day that I was there which was 6 days the employees where very kind and new me by the third day and the food was delicious. Honestly I think Whataburger is much better than in-n-out in Texas and this location is no exception. Also there is barely any wait for your food you order and the bring it to you within 2 minutes. I hit up happy hour with my former boss at Little Woodrow's in Bellaire on a Tuesday. Since we didn't eat, I was hungry afterward and looking for a quick meal. This Whataburger location was only a couple minutes away off of the feeder. When it comes to fast food, Whataburger is at the top of my list. If you don't like Whataburger and you're from Texas, you're not a real Texan. That's a fact ;) I've reviewed other Whataburgers and what puts them over the top for me compared to other fast food joints is that they're typically cleaner and better run than your McDonald's, Jack in the Box, Burger King, etc. and the food is better. This time around, I went with one of their limited time menu items: the buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich. Similar to the honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich, this one comes on a regular bun rather than Texas toast and the sauce is different. The buffalo and ranch fusion worked well together and gave the sandwich a good kick and some nice tang to it. It did turn out to be a messy sandwich though! Whether it's your morning commute to downtown Houston or 4am with your DD and completely intoxicated, the drive-thru is slow enough to make you question the concept of fast food entirely. How does this happen? The staff is rather understaffed. I was excited to try Whataburger for the first time, people always talk about it like it's a Texas classic and the lines are always really long so I assumed it had to be at least somewhat good but I was so wrong. I decided to go last night when it was late and there weren't a lot of options. The food was unfortunately so gross that it was inedible and had to be thrown in the trash and I absolutely hate throwing trash out.
