=COVID-19 REVIEW= Ordered Little John #4 online for 'immediate' pick up with a little customization on the sub (extra tomatoes, extra pickles, etc). It took me probably around 20 minutes between the time I placed the order to the time I arrived at the restaurant but my sub was ready to go. The lone cashier working behind the counter was helping another customer when I walked in, but the manager immediately came to help me get my pick up order. Both the cashier and the manager were wearing a face mask so kudos on following the Covid protocol. Once I got home, I checked my order and it was done right. Except that it was missing the napkins - not a big deal.

Bag and receipt that was dripping with water

I've ordered several times without an major issues. Usually they miss something on the sandwich items, but not enough for recourse. Today, the order took 50 mins for delivery and the sandwich was almost completely wrong except for the meat. My porch was dry and it was not raining when the order was dropped. The driver did not knock or ring the bell, but I saw and immediately retrieved. I thought this was almost a joke. The bag and receipt were dripping with water to the point where it looked like the whole thing was dropped in a bucket. Won't be ordering again anytime soon.

Have you ever frequented a business not knowing that next door down or two there was a diamond in the rough? Well the scenario here is I must have approximately 30 plus check ins two businesses down from here and did not know here even existed until I saw some flyers at building where I work. Jimmy John, Jimmy Dean, Paula Dean or whatever name is placed on a business or product somehow fails to attract me unless I have come into contact with the actual food. There were some bbq potato chips that got me started this way. Looking for a quick meal between the day job I remembered about the flyer and yelp/google map helped me find here. Wait, I am familiar with this area, I come here almost everyday, what? It has always been two doors down and I never noticed it? Well heck let me get another business try under my belt. After skimming through a few reviews and noticing more than a dozen 4+ stars I set myself up and went in. Friendly counter help, clean floors, smell bouquet of bread and semi loud music. Someone during the shift must have found a song they liked and cranked it up a few deci's oh well. I ordered some Night Italian Sandwich or whatever it was called with the bbq chips that I tried before. It did not knock me off my feet but I could genuinely tell you that it's a tad above Subway, Quizmo's etc. The bread was not the soft type but I guess I could describe as a pull apart texture, which is good. The ingredients did not overwhelm each other and nothing on the salty side. I forgot to mention about the speed of your order, I think this is one major selling point of Mr. John's ventures. As soon as I paid I could almost see my sandwich 3/4 way on a 3 man, er there was a cute little short hispaniclady in the middle, line. Wow, like my quick tip, this place puts McDonald's and any fast food time's to shame. The sandwiches here are cheap as in price, $5.50 will get you filled while there are smaller $4.50 options. A $5.50 sandwich with chips will run you almost in the $8 range. Seating, there seems to be seating for about 25 to 30 people so if your trying to get here during a lunch rush then you might want to bring you some extra napkins if you get here after noon because you most likely are going to be dining in your vehicle. Inside was clean, the restrooms were clean but don't expect to get in fast if somebody else is already there because it's only a one man deal, wait patiently outside or dig into your pocket or purse for your purrell. There is music here for your listening enjoyment while your eating but they had that baby cranked up. I walked to the counter and nicely requested it to be turned down a hair which they happily did, very accommodating but if you were hear at this particular visit at 4:00 pm on a weekday you would have understood. No flat screen to watch here, boo! In all, I would give this establishment it's fifth star had it had an oven to toast their sandwiches but let's just say here hidden is the fifth star, I really like here better than Subway but not as much as Quizmos (toasted sandwiches and that addicting batch 427 hot sauce). There are fountain drinks here. ============================================ Tips to new yelpers: If you can get on a computer and access yelp.com, you will notice a "talk" and an "events" close to the top. Got their tuna club sandwich and it was made just the way I like it with extra cheese. It was fast and good. Idk why this place doesn't have 5 starts. Good customer service!

Incompetent on delivery dispatch. Manager is a compulsive liar. Owner doesn't care. Adding hot sandwiches was a mistake.

Lots of seating, great wait staff, and the sandwiches are gigantic--as they should be for the price. $30 for a sandwich on average. We split an open face pastrami (which they brought an extra plate) and we are glad we did. The potato salad is tiny. Too much sandwich for one but not enough potato salad for two! The pickles they provide before your sandwich arrives are yummy- not like a traditional out of the bar pickle. These are what I remember from NYC. Garlic and not sweet. We also had the apple pie alamode. Also pricey and gigantic. It was warm and delicious. Glad we tried this icon. We went at lunch and they get quite the crowd. You are not rushed at all. The parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was easy enough because it was a calm Tuesday morning. To get from the parking area to the store, you just take the elevator one level down, and then you're right inside. This place is surprisingly big, filled with all kinds of snacks, cookies, and coffee. The highlight for me was their shawarma breakfast wrap. It was top-notch and exactly what I needed. You choose between whole wheat or white pita, and it's filled with scrambled eggs, your choice of fresh or sautéed spinach, and they add potatoes as well. Then they top it with shawarma chicken, tomato, and a delicious sauce. For $8.5 it was worth every bite. Hands down, a five out of five. I also tried their coffee, which was just a standard brew sitting in ice for hours and nothing special. At $2.50, it was fine, but nothing to write home about. The real stars were the cookies. I got a coconut pecan cookie and an almond crunch cookie, and both were absolutely delicious. I didn't have time to explore the whole store, but there was a great selection of fresh produce, chocolates, and all sorts of small treats. Overall, the staff were really friendly, and the entire visit was smooth. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Five out of five stars!

As for the brisket sandwich, I thought it was good in terms of the meat, however, I must say it reminded me of sloppy joes too much. If I had to choose, I prefer getting the brisket sliced over chopped. As for the coleslaw, it was fresh and not too overwhelming with the mayo, which I love. The ratio of cabbages and carrots were evenly distributed. Lastly, the pecan pie was not too sweet and really soft yet crunchy. Overall, I would love to come here again, it was honestly one of the best!

My selection was a 5" Deluxe Po Boy which has Ham, Salami, Mozzarella lettuce tomatoes and Mandola's Italian spread. Simple sandwich, but oh so perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted, the cold cuts sliced just right and tasty and the italian spread was the perfect condiment. I'm not normally a cold deli sandwich person, but would order this sandwich over and over again. Since I was solo dining, but wanted to try more than just the sandwich on my first visit I opted for a side of spaghetti and the italian sausage. Dumped the italian sausage on my spaghetti and it was like a small side entree. The sausage was the highlight, but the spaghetti was well cooked and the traditional marinara was flavorful. While I expected the restaurant to be a little more bustling at lunch time, it was a very comfortable experience in the bright open dining area with a great deal of Houston Sports Memorabilia on the walls. The chicken seems to be marinated to the chicken as it Marinara stuck really well and didn't create too much of a mess. The bread and the chicken were soft and easy to the bite which is an advantage this sandwich has over most. But the flavor was only slightly above average. And the garlic Parmesan bread didn't really make an impact I assume they thought it was (didn't taste it at all). From Nelson to Kelsey, Chloe, to the waitstaff, including but not limited to Erica, Sara, and Elizabeth, and, of course, the wonderful reception hostess, the fantastic Jessica, make it a pleasure to dine at this restaurant. They give it that hometown atmosphere within the vast city of Houston. The ambiance is adequate. There is consensus that eliminating the second door leading to the dining area is a mistake. An attempt to expand the waiting area makes sense. Still, a line forms of patrons wanting to partake of the restaurant's delicious food, which causes congestion on the bakery side of that excellent restaurant. Perhaps expanding into what used to be Mark's One Hour photography would have been a better idea for the sake of the patrons' comfort and convenience. Moreover, the cashier's area is poorly designed and uncomfortable. The interaction between the cashier and the greeter is also missed, even though a line would also formed there. The food is just that delicious, folks! Conversely, the attempt to make things run more efficiently by having the wait staff accept payment via a computerized mechanism at the patron's table is understood. Still, this is minor in comparison to the delicious food being served there. Nevertheless, from a delicious multiple soup to a full breakfast or lunch entrée, the New York bagel shop receives an A+ in my book. Therefore, take a visit and taste for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy! Lalo De PIlar.

I had originally wanted to come because I saw that they sold steaks for purchase you can bring home to cook. However, since it was lunchtime and we were already hungry, we decided to grab some lunch as well. We got the 3 meat combo with chicken, brisket, and ribs. It came with two sides and we chose coleslaw and chicken salad. I thought it was nice they had extra protein choices as sides. They also had a tuna salad and egg salad in addition to pasta salad, beans, potato salad and other options. The food came out quickly and the meats were all very tender. However, they just tasted salty. I had a hard time tasting any other spices/flavors which is what I'm accustomed to at other bbq places. The chicken salad was salty as well. It would've been tastier in a sandwich with some crisp greens versus just by itself. Coleslaw was average. Edible but nothing special. Husband thought it was too sweet. I do have to say the service was very friendly. The worker behind the counter gave us the impression that he really wanted to help and make us comfortable. When I found out they only sold bottled water, he offered to go to the back and grabbed us two cups of tap water, which was a nice gesture because he didn't have to. We ended up not getting any other meats because the unpackaged steaks looked dried out and sad in fridge. I wasn't sure if those were the pieces they would sell you or if they were just for display. But for $34.99/lb, I didn't want to risk them giving me the dried out looking steak. Overall, it seemed like people really like this place . The person in front of my husband said this place has the best burgers! And lots of people kept coming in and out. However, for us, this isn't our favorite.
