These sandwiches could have easily been divided by 4 people but when all you ate was quinoa for breakfast, the whole sandwich was devoured! Comparing the two sandwiches, the bread was fresh, the meat stacked high and if you added veggies, they were plentiful too. Firehouse is my go to sub shop and this is one of two locations by my work. It's slightly further than the other one but I prefer it so much more! The sandwiches are yummy, fresh and the inside of the shop is very clean. They always provide great service but today it was so good that I had to leave a review! First off, I had a modification to my order that I called over the phone about and the girl who answered was so sweet and assured me they would make the change. Then when I arrived to get my food, one of the workers held the door open for me with a kind smile and positive attitude. He thought I worked in the same plaza and told me they offer a 10% discount for those who do. My sandwich was delicious and made exactly as I requested! Once you understand that this is not actual sub sandwich but rather fast food designed solely for maximum profit, it is acceptable although (like everything else now) priced about triple what it's actually worth. The sandwiches are better than Subway, which isn't saying a lot but it's something. Like getting Taco Cabana instead of Taco Bell. Soft tasteless bread, corporate vegetables, minimal meat, maximum amount of mayo on everything to give it some type of flavor. My friend and I dined in at firehouse subs after a workout. I never really come here, so I was kind of taken aback by the prices. I paid a little over $7 for a small Italian sub, that's without any customizations or sides. I knew it'd be small but not that small... especially for that price hahaha. It was still good, and I enjoyed eating it with the pickle on the side. I just wouldn't willingly come here on my own. Plenty of parking in the plaza! The Bible warned of Firehouse and Brimstone, and it came half true with this excellent sandwich shop. They have some of the better chain sandwiches in Houston, wayyyy better than Subway. Delicious sandwiches over here in Meyerland, and definitely one of the better sandwich chains out there. I personally prefer Potbelly, but they are very good, make no mistake about it, and I always thought their chili was pretty good too.  We've only had one sandwich from this Meyerland location, but we come to this plaza all the time, so I'm sure there will be return visits. read more

I walked in and before I even get to the register the lady is tells me her register is close very rudely then walks way. If you don't close till 9 why is your register closed before that time. Very unprofessional if you close at 9:55p then your doors should've been locked and the open sign should've been turned off. read more

Anyone who reads my reviews knows I am a sucker for a sammich. And a good sammich this place does deliver. The hook and ladder sub is my jam. Turkey breast. Honey ham?!?! All smothered in jack cheese? Yes please. The bread is interesting too. It is not your typical white sub roll. There is a sweetness to it that I enjoy. And you should too. Now...IF you order a large...be prepared for left-overs. The large is a little ridiculous, but you now have lunch for the next day. Friendly staff. Great food. Great cause? This was my first and last time at this location and let me tell you why. I was in a rush so I knew exactly what I wanted. Not many people in the dining area waiting so when I walked in I ordered and waited. First thing I noticed was the wet mop left out in the dining area. Gross. I've worked in food service before and that's just something you don't do. Even if you get customers while moping you apologize, take 5 seconds and put the mop in the back and then come take care of customers. Second thing I noticed was the girl DID NOT change her gloves after touching several things prior to making my sandwich. Again gross. Talk about food safety. Thirdly, they make your sandwich right on this red cutting board. I asked the manager how often they clean it and Danny (think that was his name) said, "after making 2-3 sandwiches with food safe disinfectant". Not acceptable for me! How hard is it to put one of those papers (don't know the name but almost looks like parchment paper) down while making the sandwich? I smelled my sandwich before I left to make sure the disinfection wasn't noticeable. Oh was I wrong. I couldn't smell it but I could taste it. GROSS. $14 for a large sandwich and it has hints of disinfectant. Not only that the bread was toasted too long. I even asked another girl who was lingering behind the counter, "is anyone making my sandwich"? She told me it's in the toaster. How long does it take to toast bread? Then the sandwich was DRY. DRY DRY. It was screaming for more BBQ sauce. And I had to come home and add more cheese. The girl barely put anything but meat and mayonnaise on the sandwich. I know prices are high but that's no reason to be stingy on the ingredients. What a waste of $14. My fav here is the Italian sub. Sandwich has good flavor and is pretty juicy. It comes in S/M/L, and is pretty reasonably priced. So, as I start to leave the back of Meyerland Center after shopping, a Siren beckons me (first time to one of these joints). Menu has the typical ladder of subs, and hydrant of drinks. I volunteer to take a specialty sub, the New York Steamer, a corned beef and pastrami Italian sub sprinkled with the typical veggie toppings. It was about the same size as the competitions' and tasted good, better than Subway, and perhaps a bit less than Quizno's. But your taste may differ from mine. Differentiator: One great thing about this place is the large assortment of flaming hot sauces, in case you want to commit arson on your tongue. Without these, I guess Firehouse would have been named Smokehouse. If a body Alarm happens, and you have an Emergency to extinguish some embers, the restrooms are in the back, but since the place is a bit narrow, you may have exercise your Right of Way to get there. Have ordered smoke beef brisket which is very good, sweet spicy meatball which is fantastic and Saturday I had steak and cheese. Well, steak/cheese was okay, and this place is convenient from college. It is also a good place to eat while your significant other goes shopping. You can also do some work online because tables are large enough for portable electronics. Saturday we arrived it was shortly after 12pm and no lines. By 12:30 all teams in the area were heading in and lines were starting to form. They have regular families that meet other families, groups and individuals. They also have outdoor seating. I had the most horrible experience with an employee at Firehouse subs on Westheimer in Houston Texas store #590. First of all I was ignored and waited at the register for 5 minutes without being served with 3 employees behind the counter. When I was finally acknowledged it was by a male employee with IMMEDIATE malice and disrespect. When my order was given to me I noticed that it was incorrect and brought it to his attention he immediately began to insult me by telling me that he made exactly what I asked for when indeed that was not correct. I had ordered a medium sandwich because I had received a free medium sandwich for my birthday from Firehouse subs. When I originally ordered I showed him the coupon which he scanned for a medium free sub. But there was a small sub in the bag. He continued to say that if I would only admit that I was wrong he would make me another sandwich. He kept on and on and on and so finally I really didn't feel comfortable with him handling my food because he was so irate. So I asked for a refund which she started cursing at me and telling me that he was not the one to "F*CK" with. After a few minutes of being disrespected and cursed at I started recording at that point the employee got other customers involved and started egging them on by calling me names and instigating a damn near riot in this Firehouse subs. This simple misunderstanding turned into nothing short of a knock down dragout!! Out of three employees behind the counter no one ever intervened or tried to put a stop to this situation getting completely out of control physically and verbally. Unfortunately I can NEVER look at Firehouse Subs the same ever again! If I would have known that this employee was going to go this far I would have started recording from the beginning but I never thought that entering a public fast food restaurant I would have been treated this way so unfortunately I only got the ending of this employees very disturbing and unprofessional behavior. Manager was not doing his job QA'ing the food during prep. 2. Pickle missing. Just sheer laziness and inattention to detail. 3. Stale brownie. Again, manager asleep at the switch. 4. This FIRHOUSE location has a friendly staff and a great menu. It's in the back of the Meyerland Plaza, so easy to get to from the neighborhood or after a shopping spree at Target, Best Buy, or JC Penney. I have tried every single sandwich on the menu. I loved all of them. They are known for the warm subs which are steamed up a bit to make them juicy and pleasant. That's the difference between here and Subway. Also a key difference is this, the calorie count of the big sandwiches are a bit more. I'm a fan of the HOOK N LADDER. They do have the fancy Coke machine that allows you to create hundreds of combinations and flavors. I seem to always get a vanilla rootbeer, but one day will go more exotic like an Orange Coke. read more

Neither love nor hate my relationship with this establishment. Food is great! Thats what keeps me coming back. I just love the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. The mayo and bbq sauce just marry so perfectly together. Price is a little on the costly side but not over the top. Food aside, the customer service is what makes me give them the 3 star rating. It's never consistent. One day you'll get a cheerful employee ready to take your order. And then another, you'll get the one who doesn't even want to come take your order. In this day in age, good isn't good enough anymore. Customers expect for the employees to go above and beyond. Thats just the world we live in now. And when one experiences that, it makes you WANT to come back for more than just the food. Overall pretty good place to grab a nice yummy sub, they just need to work on customer service. read more
