It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. There's just so much to see, be it Autographs, Caricatures, Playbill's or their delicious cakes, treats, breads, and Pickles. However, the real overwhelming experience is the menu. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. The entire dining experience was top notch, exactly the experience I always have. Ziggy knows how to make the customers dining experience an "experience", I have never had a bad one, from the service down to the cleanliness of the entire place. In this review I want to give a special shout out to Beverly, our server, as she was amazing and whom I recommend. She practically read our minds and was an absolute star. Thank you, Beverly, for the fine service that was speedy with a smile!

Watching them work was a delight; the "Mike's Way" preparation was executed with the precision of a choreographed performance, ensuring every topping was balanced and every slice of meat was paper-thin. The sandwich itself was a revelation. The bread was impeccably fresh, providing the perfect pillowy vessel for the bright, acidic zing of the red wine vinegar and olive oil. It is rare to encounter such a stark contrast in quality at the same establishment, but this team has elevated the humble sub to a truly gourmet experience. If you, like me, had written this restaurant off entirely, I implore you to return--they have reclaimed their reputation with style at this location. However the 7670 Katy Freeway location is a masterclass in operational failure and human disrespect. Kudos to Managers John and Adam, and excellent crew member Zom, on a job well done, standing fast with a grill malfunctioning to the point of becoming useless. As always, they, along with their new associate, Zom, did what looked to be impossible. John was innovative in introducing a customer to an alternative to what was preferred from the grill. Hopefully, John and Adam received the needed attention to remedy the situation with their grill. The successful suggestion rolled off his tongue like the professional he has been since I have had the pleasure to know him and his crew. Words are genuinely futile in describing the outstanding quality of the Bellaire Jersey Mike's crew. You guys at the counter now are a bunch of clowns. Not one of you has any common sense whatsoever. Where the hell is the franchise owner and why haven't they trained their staff. I asked if this was the bacon they were gonna put on my sandwich. They said yes...I said I'm gonna need new bacon lol. They had no problem making it fresh and didn't have an attitude, but the fact that they had that giant pile of burnt bacon that was going on the next 50+ sandwiches says a lot. The food is still good so I continue to come, but whether your food comes out how you expect it is a 50-50 chance. Make sure to sign up for shore points and get free subs.
