    Scooby Doo!

Stopped by Jax Grill for a quick lunch and saw their new Scooby-Doo kids menu--so fun! "Scooby Snacks Chicken Tenders" and "Mystery Machine Mac & Cheese" had me wishing I ordered off the kids menu. Perfect spot for families, but still fast and delicious for a workday bite. Love the playful vibe!

While I do love Jax and have eaten here for probably a decade mistakes do occur. I'm not as disgusted as some but having a really long black cooked into my burger when I have short brown hair is kinda gross. The lady at the register immediately took it away and apologized. Mistakes may occur but it's great when a business rights a wrong professionally and without debate!

Stopped by for a pre-movie burger dinner ! I got a Jax Burger with cheese. It was so good and juicy! I opted for hush puppies as my side and was disappointed. Lacked flavor. Didn't taste like anything. The fries were neither bad nor good. Nothing to write home about. For dessert we had an amazing bread pudding. I would come back just for that!

Very good place love it every time I go I started my new job less then 5 minutes away and I go at least 4-5 times a week and the food has never disappointed anyone at my job

This spot is such a Bellaire staple. I have so many memories eating here while attending BHS. I came here with my cousin the other day for lunch. She got the burger and I got the tenders. My go to things here are the tenders, caesar salad, nachos, and loaded fries. Their menu covers all the diner classics from burgers to salads. The food here is portioned on the larger (TX) size and all cooked/prepped fresh right after you order. Parking here can be tight (the parking lot literally is tiny) so I would come before lunch/dinner rush.

This place was hopping for lunch today! We split an original Jax burger and Buffalo wings. We requested extra crispy on the fries and the wings and they definitely delivered! The wing sauce definitely had a kick and the fries were well seasoned. The brioche bun was delicious and the meat was a tad on the dry side but overall had good flavor. We almost got up charged for extra burger ingredients but luckily we kept an eye on the register. We ate outside which was enjoyable! The food came out quickly and the prices are reasonable. The workers there seemed a little low energy/ perhaps overworked though. They need some love, go check them out and tell them they're doing an great job!!

This place had a cool atmosphere. You order your food at the counter and they give you a buzzer for when it is ready. I had the JAX salad and it was really good! Good size too. I was full. I would definitely come back.

Which they had a Jax in Sugarland area. I always get the same thing, southwest chicken salad, and I'm never disappointed. Fresh avocados, jalapeños and greatly cooked Christmas chicken always hits the spot. Plus they are fast.

By that point, I was completely put off and declined the replacement. I understand mistakes happen, but cleanliness at a bar should be the bare minimum, especially when it comes to drinkware. Unfortunately, this experience ruined the visit for me and I won't be returning.

I don't eat meat, but I NEEDED a grilled cheese and an order of onion rings just sounded like the right thing to do, so I did it. My oh my! What I got was the largest grilled cheese sandwich I've ever seen on what I think was brioche bread? It was very much the texture of a croissant and whoa....so tasty! The onion rings were very nice with thick sliced onions so the ratio of onion to batter was perfect. JLB obviously takes changing out the oil in their fryers seriously (as many places don't) because they were fresh and didn't taste like anything that had been deep-fried in the oil previously. This is a real issue for me. I don't want tortilla chips that smell and taste rancid, nor do I want churros that taste like tortilla chips that have been previously fried in the same rancid oil. I have an extremely sensitive olfactory sense, but it lends itself nicely to eating out at establishments that take the care and concern for cleanliness and their patrons. Speaking of cleanliness, JLB is spotless, although to the point the cleaning products smell overwhelm the entire small establishment. I immediately knew when I walked in that I couldn't eat there, but I'm sure glad I ordered to-go! My order was prepped and ready swiftly and too big to eat for just one person so I shared with my neighbor who is recovering from an injury. Literally, don't order a large onion rings if you don't have several people to share it with. Tee hee! Great Job JLB!

Similarly to their more popular location in Memorial (#2), this outside of this Bellaire spot doesn't immediately tell the full story. The interior has an industrial vibe, with the high ceilings and overhead fixtures, but as converted into a solid dining space. The large tilted mirrors in the main area are reminiscent of the now defunct Helen's (#3) and makes for a fun (or perhaps distracting) visual. The spacious layout allows breathing room for all kinds of groups. Service has been good overall, and prompt throughout every visit. The American bistro inspired menu has a decent amount of variety that spans from brunch to a tasty weeknight dinner and a drink. Their starters have a variety of tasty bites that include the white truffle eggs, wicked wings, prosciutto-melon burrata, Mama Pauley's meatballs, and a very addicting chipotle pimento cheese dip. While I appreciate the vegan-friendly hippie chickpea croquettes, it needed just a bit more seasoning. Their bacon double cheeseburger has been deemed "insta-famous" and it certainly didn't disappoint. It's juicy, a little messy, but a lot delicious. It paired well with their large cut fries (consider upgrading to the truffle fries), but the house made chips are also a good light bite. Their salads are equally fabulous from their classic caesar to a hearty cobb salad. I wasn't as impressed with the crunchy Asian salad, but thought their faro salad was a thumbs up. Understandably, the priciest meals are some of their grilled and house specialty meals, such as a prime tenderloin filet ($42), Mediterranean roasted redfish ($36), twelve hour ribs ($29), and rosemary-lemon chicken ($29), all of which are solid. I feel the buttermilk chicken tender platter ($19) is really meant for children, but is great for any tender lover in the bunch. Their weekly "features" are a series of daily specials that range from prime rib nights on Wednesdays and ribeyes on Thursdays, and "kids eat free" specials + their happy hour give folks plenty of reason to check it out. ___________ ( #1) Especially during their seasonal deals which can sometimes include steep discounts. What was originally a key shop was…read morepurchased by the OG owner, Bubba Gillam converted it to an ice house before the burger concept moved from Westheimer over 40 years ago. Their claim to fame was being the first establishment to serve bison burgers along with beer before offering anything else. Once Bubba sold the place to one of his VIP customers, it's been run by the same family ever since. This is truly one of the most old school buildings one can find in the greater Galleria area. The view of highways and parking lot pot holes is admittedly somewhat depressing, but there is a certain nostalgic charm that only a place like this can capture. The seating situation is outdoor / patio only, which makes this a tough spot during warm weather days. The indoor area is reserved only for the staff, consisting of mostly young folks hustling to keep the food going. Avoid using the restrooms if possible, it's one of their roughest patches. Today, the menu is still very simple, consisting of mostly burgers and sandwiches with some fries, and miscellaneous sides like frito pies, potato salad, and onion rings. The burgers are $8.25 a patty, along with $10.25 for the bison. Their burgers are $11-16 each, which may not sound crazy nowadays, but feels pricey considering the portion. Throw in extras like bacon ($2.25), a fried egg ($1.50) chili ($2.50) etc. and it'll add up quick. Thankfully the food is consistent and tasty. Their frito pie burger ($12.25/14.25) is rarity in the HTown burger world, and I have high praise for their patty melt ($11/13). Still, I can't help but enjoy their simple, but pricey double cheeseburger ($17.50) and wolf it down with their very crispy fries. I think I could just focus on the latter and be extremely pleased. Parking can be a little wild. There are no defined areas in the gravel pit(s), and there is a massive pothole that looks like a crater. Missing the turn for this place makes it hard for anyone to turn around, so it's not inconceivable to think they've missed out on a lot of potential customers as a result. Any burger lover owes it to themselves to give Bubba's a shot at least once. While the bison burgers don't taste significantly better than the beef, their food is still worth the occasional splurge with good company on a cool weather day.

I like to tell myself that it isn't a good burger unless I feel ugly eating it (hint: I did! You'll need the napkins). Potato bun was perfectly buttered and toasted, with a gentle toast on top as well. The meat was well seasoned and cooked to perfection with crispy, caramelized edges. I'd honestly say this is a better burger than most other large American chains like Red Robin's and the likes. Slut sauce was reminiscent of thousand island dressing. The fries came seasoned in some barbecue seasoned salt. Perfectly salted, with a mild sweetness. But if you want 100% plain fries, you'll likely need to ask. Restaurant: The restaurant was pretty tidy. The lighting was pretty unique -- pink neon and industrial wire caged bulbs. There was variety in the seating arrangement: booths, tables, and high bar dining tables. Every booth had power outlets, and it seems there is a guest wifi network. The music is a bit too loud for me (pop/indiepop) to work here professionally like one would patron a coffee shop. I visited for a mid-week lunch, and given that this joint is open until 2am it'd be much more of a vibe! Service: service was great. Nothing to complain about.
