We had this place on our foodie radar and enjoyed our first visit. The food and service were amazing. My wife and only remaining boss enjoyed the Pollo En Crema, slices of chicken breast marinated in a tasty blend of spices and creamy almond sauce and zucchini and rice. I thought hers was very good but mine was better, the Astros Special had a lot of goodies, one beef burrito topped with chile con carne, a poblano pepper filled with beef and topped chile con queso and one fajita and bean taquito topped with melty gooey provolone cheese. I ate a lot of Tostitos and Pace growing up and that's my best guess as to what they're serving here. I ordered chicken enchiladas and the chicken seemed like it was canned. My son ordered pizza, which I know it's a Mexican restaurant and I can't expect much with that, but it was a red baron deep dish frozen pizza. I may not be able to speak for the rest of the menu but the Carne Guisada was top notch. I also thought the sauces were great, they seemed to be homemade. I've had better micheladas & the desserts were lackluster. The flan was good, but I personally did not like the way the sopapias were prepared. Casa Dominguez has been around Bellaire forever. It's not as busy for lunch now that it's on Cedar Street, so it's good for a quick lunch. This is an old school Tex-mex joint. You can't go wrong with the enchiladas with red chile gravy and topped with onions. It's true comfort food. The combo plates named for area schools are still there. The salsa has a good kick. Summary: Spinach Enchiladas are the basis for this review, and should be removed from the menu. The night is young, and I may remove them from my stomach. This neighborhood establishment has been here for years, next door to Daniel Wong's Chinese restaurant. I haven't been here in many years. I suspect ownership has changed. You smell the smoky bar when you open the front door, and I could still detect a faint stale smell 4 tables away in the non-smoking area. No music is playing, so it's a nice and quiet place to relax and have a conversation with someone. See? It's not all negative. Monday at 7pm, it's a small crowd, seated in their pointy-post-tipped wood chairs around the table with a green tablecloth. There is an eclectic variety of odd Mexican decorations on the wall (no interior decorator has been here). On the menu, many dishes are named after people's favorite combos and area universities. Chips y salsa are average, and guacamole was better than average, for a $7 entrée restaurant. I ordered Spinach enchiladas, since I am here for health reasons (ha-ha). They were full of cheap canned spinach. Yecchh. But, I needed to eat my veggies, so I mixed them with salsa and rice to down them. They should either go to freshly-cooked spinach or name them after a university in Can-ada. read more

Nasty! Casa Dominguez was basically empty. Salsa tasted like tomato juice, that should have been first warning. Chips were crumbs. There were 2 of us and we both ordered the chicken fajita tacos. It was not fajita or seasoned in anyway just bland boil chicken full of gristle and fat. The beans were so so. The pico bad and not fresh neither was the guacamole.
