Everything itches. My lower back, my bum, my chest, my legs, and occasionally even the side of my face and cheek itch. I woke up at 3:00am this morning with my leg spastically flying out of my control. My leg was dying to get itched, and silly me, I was not conscious and did not itch it and my leg got pissed. And believe me, at 3:00am, your leg can get pissed! So I gave it a good itch, and then the itching would not stop... I flopped around in bed trying to ignore the itches all over my body, but they wouldn't go away! I know, crazy right! I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, nothing there but beautiful Alex skin... No rash, no redness, just tingling... I could and can still tell that my body is pissed... it is itching like crazy. I put aloe on me and thought that would help, but it made it worse... I never made it back to sleep last night, and that is why you must suffer through this story. What was it Alex, what was it? I still have a few diagnostics, but so far, I think it was from the stand up tanning booth at Polish. I know I know, tanning is bad for you... I thought I could get away with it and make it look like a nice summer glow! Polish is a great salon, with good prices, and obviously, has very strong stand up tanning booths. So strong that it burns you or kills your living cells inside your body that you don't even see it. I don't take this anger out on the salon, it is all on me... This itch I think it a slight irritation from the burn, but it is possible I am turning into an ostrich... I went to a "cheap" nail salon close to my house to save time and money and had my nail bed severely damaged. After several visits with my new nail technician, Danny at Polish salon, I have learned about the proper products that are supposed to be used on natural nails. Danny has literally saved my nails. I have only been seeing him since March, and you can already see the difference. Half of my nail is destroyed from use of a drill. Those white spots are not from vitamin deficiencies (this is what my old tech told me.) They are destroyed from use of a drill. I trusted this person to take care of me and she clearly didn't care. I can't emphasize enough how happy I am with the improvement in my natural nails. This place is a little bit more money (about 30% higher.) But not having my nails destroyed by a drill is priceless. It makes sense that the other place was so inexpensive because they were using cheap garbage products that had to be drilled off my nail. They do it the right way here. The woman just went right into chopping off my toenails down to the quick, and very unevenly like she was mad at them. No filing, no scrubbing, not even much cuticle treatment. My other friends who were there with me also requested the same thing -pedicure without polish - and they all received some sort of oil on their cuticles, but not me. I have been going to Polish for a little while and Haley has always done my nails and I have a mani. Today she did a mani and pedi. I have recently broken my leg and my foot was swollen, dry and a mess nit to mention I still had stitches in my ankle. I have had fake nails for the last 5 years and in those years I have tried many different spas around the Northern Colorado area (mainly Boulder and Fort Collins). I found a great one in Fort Collins, but since I live in Boulder I needed to find a local one. I had tried Contempo nails (would be my second choice) and Star Nails (under new ownership, which ruined them). Neither were up to par with what I was used to at Nails 2000 in Fort Collins. Luckily my coworker recommended Polish. I was impressed with everything. The place is nice, clean, good temperature, and they have great employees. I have had my acrylic nails done there over the past 5 months and I am continually impressed with how great of a job they do. The pedicures are good as well, but I feel like they could be a bit better, mainly with the massage portion (but I have yet to go for the deluxe pedicure which may be what I need to do). For women in Boulder with acrylic nails, this is by far the place to go. read more

I was given a gift certificate from work for Polish and used it for a pedi and set of acrylics for my wedding. The place is small, nicely decorated and doesn't reek so bad like chemicals that it makes you feel like you might pass out during your visit. I got the basic foot job, but all the ladies try to up sell you for a paraffin wax pedi for ten extra bucks. Really, even if you upgraded you'd still only be paying $35 for the whole deal, I just wasn't feelin the wax that day. Since I was on the tail-end of planning my wedding (planned in 3 weeks total = stressed the ef out) the pedi was really relaxing and I felt really good when I sat down for the acrylics. Being honest - I hate fake nails! They drive me nuts while they're on and ladies, you know if you even very slightly bump them or catch them on something you feel like you might just lose a finger.... Anyway, needed them for the wedding pics, so here I was. The nail tech did a really good job. She was fast and spread the acrylic on very evenly and beautifully. Every employee is so kind and hard working and they are always excited when a customer walks through the door. I insist that all my friends come here to get their nails done too! Overall had a very good experience at this nail salon. They did an excellent, thorough job on my nails (acrylic - full set) and they look great. Staff was friendly and maintained a schedule (I was actually helped at my appointment time, which I cannot say for many places.) My only complaints were that the desks were all *covered* in layers of fingernail dust, as were the brushes they used. It's not hard to keep clean utensils. The other is that the entire hour I was there they played one song on repeat. Never changed the song once. It was incessant. I would definitely go back as the quality of work was great, but if you're not a fan of dirty tools or the Backstreet Boys' "Shape Of My Heart" I would not recommend. read more

There was also a bunch of dead skin left on my feet. As for my manicure, my manicurist took his time and did what I wanted and asked for but did not finish the job. Sad to say this was the worse manicure I've ever received. I brought my daughter and her friend in as a treat as she was about to graduate from CU Boulder. The woman I got seemed to have little interest in her work. Maybe she was having a bad day. However, even if she didn't have the friendliness disposition she did a poor job. I haven't had a manicure in years and I really wanted her to work on my cuticles and shape my nails. Instead of pushing my cuticles back and working on them she took the electric file, I believe they use for acrylics, and used that to file down my cuticles. I have indentations and markings where she used the electric file. I am really worried what condition my nails will be by the time they grow out. I feel like they will be very weak and brittle. Also 4 out of my nails were not even cut and filed straight. My husband, who is not very observant, even noticed. The manicure was the basic one and was said to be about 1/2hour. Mine took 20 minutes tops, probably closer to 15mins. Won't be back:( read more
