Thank goodness someone invented a Poki bowl place. I feel so fortunate to have this as an affordable food option now. A few years ago a bowl of poke would've been (1) only available in Hawaii and (2) $15 for a decent size portion. It's poke chipotle essentially. I got a 2 fish bowl for $8 for the kiddos and I got the 3 fish option $9.50. Besides the usual tuna, salmon, white fish, they have scallops, shrimp and octopus too. Crab and avocado are standard. So cool. This place is fresh. Plenty of sauce options. I liked the spicy mayo and added the garlic soy for some citrus flare. Staff was nice and helpful for newbies like me. Establishment clean. Of course the inside is nice seeing it's new. Flow was great. Fish quality was on point, I really enjoyed the seared med. rare albacore. It added a nice texture. But no spicy tuna? No bueno. I like to have the fish mixed with the sauces instead of just pouring it over everything. Staff was great and super friendly. It don't think it would be fair to judge poki doki, since I don't eat poke often but Ima try my best. My experience has been positive: staff was friendly, place was clean and parking was easy. The fish tasted fresh but I didn't really taste the spicy poki sauce. It didn't really have a kick. It could be the way they mix the sauces, drizzling it on instead of mixing it separately. I didn't really taste it in the rice which was strange. The speed was a bit slower compared to other spots I've been too. The servers just seem to rush you through the line, even though I was the only one there. One bowl was made wrong, as I said not to put something on it, the server still did. It was an average poke bowl, nothing amazing. I only chose this place because my regular spot was closed, however, this place did satisfy my craving. My only dig is that the fish is cut too small. I got the salmon as my choice of protein and I couldn't even tell I was eating it because it was cut so thin and small. Today I had small poke bowl with brown rice, salmon, and albacore (they also had spicy tuna, ahi tuna, masago). I added avocado and all the fixins' - cucumber, onion, scallions, seaweed, ginger, smelt egg, sprouts, jalapeno, and wasabi - with a original poki sauce, sesame seeds, and furakake (sp?). After a hard workout, it's nice to have something clean and refreshing and Poki Doki satisfied that craving. Is this the best poke I've ever had? No. Will I be back again? You bet. My boyfriend and I are poke fans so it was natural we should come to this place, especially the location being so close to his place. For starters, it's a pretty big location with plenty of seating. We came on a Monday around 2pm. No line. We each ordered a regular sized bowl with brown rice. Small comes with 2 scoops of fish, regular comes with 3, and large comes with 4. You can choose from white rice, brown rice, chips, or salad for the base. 8 types of different fish available. It's Subway style where you tell them which toppings you want for a standard price. Menu says avocado is an extra $1, but I don't think they're charging for it yet. We both added avocado but no one mentioned the extra $1 and it wasn't added to our bill. Free avocado is never a bad thing. I tried the original poki sauce with onion garlic sauce and it was more than satisfactory. Cons: They add the sauce over the bowl after everything is in there instead of mixing the fish and sauce together and then placing it in. Compared to Low Key Poke in Garden Grove, they had less toppings available (wishing they had fried garlic here). Compared to North Shore, you definitely get a lot more choice in your bowl. Overall everything tasted great for a poke lover! PS. Try the Pokinade, it's refreshing and delicious! read more
