Newer Ramen restaurant in the Target Shopping Center. It's an order at the counter but looks like dine in the food is brought to your table and on real plates. I ordered to go but definitely plan to return for dine in. I ordered one Ramen bowl and one sushi combination to share with my husband. It was more than enough food and we some Ramen left over for lunch the following day; reheated very well. The food was packed very well. The Ramen broth was separated from the contents. The sushi combo included Spicy Tuna, California Roll, and Crunchy (shrimp). Very fresh and made while I waited. I ordered the Beef Ramen. Beef was very tender. The menu stated it had red Chile so we were expecting some spice or kick to it, but it waa on the bland side. Also, the egg (whole egg, nice) was hard boiled not soft boiled. I definitely plan to return. I would request a soft boiled egg and some spice/heat. The inside has a good number of tables for dining in. Ample parking in this shopping center.

Inside, tables are below but edited for privacy.

Great and very friendly service! Foos is very good and delicious, tgey also have lunch specials and you can substitute the rice for extra salad if you are diabetic. It's an inviting and friendly atmosphere.

    Chirashi Bowl $23

This place is a pretty much a total miss now. The staff looks completely different from what I remember last year, so maybe that has something to do with it. They did expand the menu to include sushi offerings; I believe that part of the issue is that they went totally overboard and now there's so many things on the menu and most of them don't taste good or have weird combinations of things thrown together. My Chirashi sushi bowl was literally served in a plastic takeout bowl. There was nothing in it but fish and rice, some toppings wouldn't have hurt. The next visit, I got the poke bowl, and they plated it better, but there was no sauce in the poke, or any of the basic toppings people have come to expect. In fact, it was more like a sashimi salad. My wife's bento was pretty bad. In it, she also got a side of plain overcooked ramen noodle which was not edible. Salmon was bland. The ramen seems to be the only thing that is still okay. My boys ate it up fine. The servers are nice, but pretty clueless about the menu that they can't even articulate what's what. They really need to dial-in the menu and go back to a winning formula with basic offerings that they can stand behind. This is a cautionary tale of trying to be the jack-of-all-trades leads you down a path of being maste-of-none.

Mako Ramen is conveniently located right between two military bases -- it's also right near the 405 exit making it a terrific spot to grab quick lunch or dinner if you work in the area. The service is always prompt and friendly. There's no snarks, attitudes, negotiating for a bigger table, etc. The menu is actually rather extensive. It offers both ramen, sushi, bento boxes, and appetizers. I just wish their gyozas aren't deep fried. The ramen itself is delicious. The aburi chashu gets seared fresh right before serving and not ice cold like the ones from Tsukemen Tao. They won't dump some slabs of fridge meat in your soup I promise. The soup is not very salty and actually rather light even if you get something typically heavier like tonkotsu based soup. I attribute that to where the owner is from. Makoto is from the Western region of Japan and their soup stocks tend not to be overly salty, sweet, or heavy. It reminded me of what my relatives from the Western side of the island prefers. I appreciate that very much given how salty and oily the soup can be elsewhere. Parking is also free and the restaurant offers military discounts as well. I hope to swing by again in the near future.

Came from warped tour that was about 90 degrees F and had a massive headache, came to this place to ease the pain, we get home after spending almost $60 just to find that they for got the broth for our soup. It's hard to trust places to eat at that we can rely on to make our day better and I guess this one is one of them. Wouldn't come here again and I highly recommend you shouldn't either. Worst part is they weren't even busy when we went there. Even saw some guy just staring off into space as we were waiting for our food. What a joke.

I wasn't feeling great and thought soup sounded good so we came here for some ramen. It's a small place, nothing fancy. In fact when you walk in it looks like a counter-service kind of place until the server comes to seat you. The menu has ramen, but also some rice plates and sushi. We chose the Umami (seafood) ramen and Beef brisket ramen. They were both very different, but very, very good and came an enormous bowls. I would definitely come back here for takeout, but the actual restaurant is pretty plain. Definitely nothing to look at. But it's the food that counts, and our ramen was delish!

Picked up a chicken Katsu for dinner. I ordered online and it was ready in 20 mins. It came with rice and a cabbage salad. The chicken Katsu was tasty and crunchy on the outside. Definitely will come back again.

TLDR: Good, not great. 4.5 stars. A good menu that covers your standard ramen shop essentials with a handful of unexpected additives. I see myself going back when it's convenient, but I won't go out of my way to come here. Umami seafood ramen: I think the pictures from Yelp gave me the impression that it was going to be a thick broth, but I was sad to discover that it wasn't. Nonetheless, it's a good bowl of ramen that does not have the porky taste that seafood enjoyers avoided when ordering this type of ramen. The broth had a salt base that kept the umami without the fatty feel, and it was nice to enjoy on its own. It had a fair amount of seafood, and the noodle portions were good. Chicken Karaage: I liked it a lot. A light battered juicy chicken karaage sounds easy to do, but many ramen shops overthink and mess up. The choice of serving it with Japanese mayo and a sour sesame sauce on the side was interesting since restaurants tend to only do one sauce per dish. I appreciated the choice offered, and I still think the Japanese mayo is hard to beat. The salad was fine, and I wish the chicken pieces were bigger. Pork Gyoza: This one is a bit disappointing. It tasted like package gyoza bought from a supermarket. Deep frying the dumpling also did not help the texture. The thick peanut based sauce was okay, but I don't see myself getting this again. Service: It's good. I went during a non-busy hour so the staff didn't have a lot in their hands, but they made sure I had water, and were proactive. Ambiance: A nice shop that seats just under 50. It's clean, bright, and I place I won't mind slow eating a meal in.

Picked up food for my daughter. She ordered Spicy Miso Tonkontsu. I have one big issue with this business, so I asked to talk to the manager and the employee said she doesn't work Sunday. Her name is Monica and I need her to respond this review. Although the food was great, they charged me double tax. Basically, I paid 18.50% tax! The employee told me, he had no idea why that was, but it happens on all orders. This is not legal and must be addressed. I will be reporting this business to the BBB and the State of California, if I don't hear from Monica. This would have been a 4 or 5 star review if they didn't double tax me.

This new ramen place is in the same parking lot as Ralphs and Target. It's spacious with large amount of seating. It looks fast casual but a server took our order, brought our food, refilled drinks, and bussed tables. We came during the weekday and they had some lunch specials. My wife ordered the lunch combo which per the menu came with a half sized ramen and choice of appetizer. I ordered the full sized ramen. Honestly, go for the lunch special. Both bowls were huge and appeared the same size. Even the appetizer was huge. We had tonkatsu ramen, gyoza, and kaarage. Everything was flavorful and we loved it all. The roasted pork included with the ramen was delicious. Kaarage was super juicy and tender yet crunchy from the batter. Service was really friendly and they kept checking up on us. My wife and I both loved our meal and can't wait to return!

First time visitor Located next to Starbucks in rossmoor parking lot target side Orders can be placed online Lunch specials available Sit down dining available Open kitchen Open seating including window seats Clean decor Server was really pleasant and attentive Had the pork belly rice with green onion bean sprouts pickled ginger and rice. Pork belly was tender, good fat to meat ratio, and large portion easy for sharing and reasonable on the wallet Dry ramen special with green onion, poached egg, seaweed, and mince meat. Protip use some of the house chili oil sparing as a small bunch as the heat sneaks up on you and the sesame oil balances the flavors and heat. Tan tan love the heartiness of the shiitake and crunch of woodear mushroom and bamboo shoots and bean sprouts - silky firm tofu to absorb the broth. Did not feel overly heavy or salty. Noodles cooked well. Service was lovely and great spot to dine solo, group, and date night. Would return to try additional dishes!

Proper packaging for To Go Orders. Per your employees- Our $30+ To-Go order was improperly packaged allowing one item to leak when the package was picked up, the bag bottom saturated and gave way while being delivered dumping the order on the sidewalk. When brought to your stores attention we were given a $20 gift certificate. Definitely not somewhere to recommend for Take-Out.

Every dish was beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and packed with flavor. I wish I could tell you exactly what everything was, but my ADHD memory isn't doing me any favors . What I do remember is that every bite was delicious. The sashimi melted in my mouth, the nigiri was perfectly prepared, and the presentation was stunning from start to finish. If you're looking for high quality sushi in Long Beach, this spot is absolutely worth a visit. I already can't wait to go back. P.S. The photos probably do a better job of remembering what I ordered than I can.

It never felt too loud inside for how many people were inside . A busy Saturday night . Now service is where they lose a star . Our waitress who initially sat us was not welcoming. When she took our order she seemed short . Maybe from feeling overwhelmed with a busy night , but it was off putting and poor attitude . Luckily Lisa was kind enough to help us towards the end of the night and we appreciated her service.

Restaurant quality just hasn't been the same, but that is not the case here. Over the years their team has continued to offer delicious food and a nice casual dining experience. The store is small and cozy, so not great for parties larger than 4, though I'd really just suggest 2. Great for lunch or a low key dinner, it is one of my go-to for ramen spots. I really love their white miso tsukemen, the thick noodles are slightly chilled and served with a wedge of lime which is a nice way to lighten the very rich broth. I've had their red miso before but its deeper flavor is a bit too powerful for my taste, so for those who like something with more umph, that's a great choice as well.

Have been seeing this spot pop up on a lot of OC ramen lists and decided to try it out. We also had…read morehigh expectations due to their Michelin Bib Gourmands for the past several years. The interior is very small, maybe 16-20 seats total. For food, we ordered the gyoza 2/5, spicy white miso 3.5/5, and spicy red miso 4/5. The gyoza was disappointing since it was reheated and still tasted cold in the middle. Both ramen were filled to the brim with rich, flavorful broth. The white miso broth was slightly less thick and rich than the red miso. The noodles were chewy, and the Tao spice had a nice kick. Unfortunately, there was no AC running so we got pretty hot and uncomfortable during our meal. They also charged us for an extra drink that we didn't order. Sadly, this spot did not live up to expectations and will not return.
