Came across this poke place while on the way to Newport for an appointment & was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish. When I arrived, there were no customers so I was skeptical but decided to give it a try anyways. The ambiance was clean and simple with minimal decor. They had plenty of seating inside and outside. Ordering was simple, they had step by step instructions on their menu. I opted for a small bowl with half salad and half white rice. The salad was nice and fresh, and the rice was hot & soft but not mushy. I chose the salmon and tuna for my protein choices which tasted quite fresh. I chose a mild spice level which was perfect for me because it didn't overwhelm me with spice. They offered plenty of toppings which was nice but the mango didn't taste fresh which was fine because it added a sweetness to the bowl. It did seem quite pricey for the portion of fish you get. My total came out to $17.72 for my small bowl but I enjoyed my meal regardless. If you're in the area and are looking to have poke then Poki Bowl is a good place to try out. read more

UNDERRATED POKE SPOT!!! This place makes a delicious poke bowl! I got the small bowl with white rice and it comes with two scopes of protein. They are very generous with their scopes of protein and scopes of the sides. It's very good quality of fish and sides. It's a very filling bowl as well. I went on Saturday and it was not very busy, but there was only one worker so keep that in mind. I would definitely be back for another bowl! Great poke bowl spot! read more

My boyfriend & I love poke and we're eager to try this place. I appreciate how the owners focus on quality - from their choice of fish to the types of containers & chopsticks. I was delighted they offer chips as a base & mango as one of their toppings. I opted half brown rice & half chips (to try something new). The small was enough to satisfy my hunger. I liked the Mido dressing and eel sauce combo on top of my concoction - as it balanced sweet & savory. My boyfriend really liked how the spicy tuna came in chunks (instead of minced). Sadly, our most recent visit fell considerably short. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, and we waited about 20 minutes while multiple DoorDash and Uber Eats orders were completed ahead of us, even though we were standing there as in-person customers. Walk-ins were completely deprioritized. They were also out of several key ingredients we needed for our bowls. When I asked about options, there was no flexibility - no alternatives, price adjustment, or even a small courtesy add-on to help offset the inconvenience. I share this with genuine hope the team can course-correct. This place was once special, and we'd love to see it return to the quality and care that made us loyal customers. read more

So good and fresh! We love poke and had never been here. Got 2 large bowls and every ingredient was fresh- the ahi, salmon, spicy tuna, and octopus. Perfectly prepared. The brown rice was still warm and the mixed greens were crisp. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely our go-to when we're near UCI. read more

I decided to try Poki Bowl a second time mainly because the reviews are more favorable than Poke Me. I live close by so I ordered for pick up through GrubHub. When I got there the gentleman working had not prepared the food (ordered 30 minutes prior), he was chewing gum (disgusting) and then he proceeded to make my bowl. Ingredients are good, fresh and generous as others have remarked, but this place just can't seem to get it right service wise. Poke Me alternatively always makes me feel welcome, and I feel much more valued. I'm right in between both so I'm not saying I won't be back, but I'll probably go to the other more often read more

I actually had a bone in one of the albacore pieces, so I know it was fresh. The process in making the Poki Bowl was really simple, easy, tasty, & delicious. The service was great and ppl are smiling all the time. Clean and roomy. Pricing today $17.95 for 3 scoops of protein: Spicy Tuna, Tuna, & Albacore (okay so I love tuna any way it's made). What's astonishing was the priced add-ons: edamame & seaweed salad $1.25 .... SOOO basically I paid almost $20 for a basic Poki Bowl. ....... Menu on Yelp says $18.95. ..... Sorry to say, there are many pokie bowl establishments charging much less than & do not charge extra for either edamame OR seaweed salad. Great pokie bowl? For me, I've had better. Price competitive? The woman at the counter told us we had to place an order first before using the restroom. This kind of policy is extremely unfriendly, especially toward families with young children. We left immediately and will never return. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The place itself was clean and well-maintained. The plaza has a lot of outdoor seating as well. It's shaded and quiet so it was very great sitting outside with my pup. Service is great, pricing is poor, selection is poor, and flavor is lacking. First things first, the pricing of a poki bowl is normal but what you get for the price is not. You start off with the most rice I've ever seen in a polo bowl, like 3-4 heaping scoops of rice that fills almost the entire bowl. The scoops of fish are flattened out so you get maybe 3-4 chunks of a fish each scoop. For sauces, it's a mix of ponzu/sesame oil/chili oil. This does not add much flavor at all to the fish. For toppings they charge extra for seaweed salad and edamame but for some reason avocado is free? Doesn't make any sense to me. If the location changes the portions for fish to rice, include seaweed salad and edamame, and expand on more flavor in sauces I would be back. Otherwise I'll make the extra drive to go somewhere else next time. read more

This spot just opened about a month ago so I decided to try it out. I went inside and everything was clean, yet it was also pretty empty -- probably because they have not yet established a customer base. I ordered a 3-scoop bowl. First of all, the "sushi rice" isn't actually sushi rice, it's just white steamed rice, which is misleading. The portions of fish served are also really small. There's not a huge selection of toppings, either. There's an extra charge to add edamame, which I find pretty odd. My bowl came out to around $20, which, in my opinion, is way too overpriced for what you get. The taste of everything was fresh, but it left me wanting more. There are plenty of other poke bowl spots to check out. This one for me unfortunately did not stick out. However, since I do live nearby I would consider trying this place again in a few months to see if there are any improvements. For the near future though, I'd go somewhere else. read more

Very good poke bowl. I was surprised. I was at the plaza for some stuff. There are not many restaurants here. This poke bowl restaurant is the best option there for me. So I came in preparing with a mediocre poke bowl. But it turned out to be really good. Love the sauce. Everyone gets the base sauce, just choose the level of spicy. Last week I went to an all you can eat sushi place for $40 and it was decent. Today I went here and got a large poki bowl for $20 and I was more satisfied for a cheaper price with no wait. The cost of 3 protein bowl was around $19-20 including tax and the protein portion was SO small. I was dumbfounded. I've been to quite a few poke bowl shops and the serving portion is a lot more than what they give here.. the scoop is like half of a regular spoon scoop. If the scoop is small I've had the experience where the facility would scoop twice because that's the money worth. Will not be coming here again unfortunately. Fish was not that fresh tbh. read more
