One of our favorite sushi spots! We come to Sushiya regularly for lunch, and it never disappoints. The sushi rolls and bowls are always fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The staff is incredibly polite, attentive, and makes you feel welcome every time. Another big plus is how quickly they prepare the food -- perfect if you're short on time but still want something tasty and satisfying. The place is clean, organized, and has a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend Sushiya if you're looking for great sushi and friendly service in Tustin!

Great place for a quick bite in the Mess Hall food court. Service was friendly and it took about 15-20 minutes to get our food. Ambiance is comfortable and informal.

The food here was delicious definitely will recommend others! There is a lot of options to choose from.

Part of the Mess Hall at Flight complex. It's in the back, far from Barranca. Several vendors make up the Hall, with games to play like giant checkers, corn hole, etc. No dogs unless they're service dogs. Indoor and outdoor seating. Loud music, at least on the weekend we went. Order at the register, get a buzzer, wait for it to go off, then pick it up. If the serving size was even remotely reasonable, it would've been five stars. Given the approx $18 price tag for the sushi burrito roll as of Sept 2022, I expected more. It was gone in a few bites and a minute or two. We aren't savages, either. Tasted great, but not worth it.

We walked into that hidden gem in Tustin. We looked around and the only place that would sell us food at 10:30am, as all places normally opens at 11am We decided on Sushiya and the owner accommodated us and actually took our cash payment vs their regular cashless payments. We ordered the dragon roll, ramen, tamago, & shrimp tempura. The ramen was good and tamago as well. The shrimp tempura could have been left in the fryer a little longer as it was a little moist. The dragon roll had a stench and I realized it wasn't fresh. I did return it and told the owner, I wasn't looking for a refund and left it at that. I told him to be careful, because another customer might not be so kind. The place had tons of seats and location very easy to find. The location was clean and restrooms were outside. The owner was very nice and I really want to give them another try because I'm sure they did not intentionally want to give me bad food. I'll update my review after another visit...

Rolls are relatively small and I usually have to order two special rolls to feel full. The lobster rolls are actually crawfish when reading the fine print, a little misleading even though it's quite tasty. A solid choice, but nothing that really sets it above the rest.

Such a nice spot to stop by in Mess Hall! Quick, easy and friendly service from the staff and the food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the crunchy roll and Jessica roll - Highly recommend asking for a side of ponzu sauce with the crunchy roll! The flavors pair so well together. Would definitely come back here again

Located in the Flight Hall. Came and got a poke bowl and cucumber roll. Everything is average and expensive for the portion size! Better off going to a specialized poke place (that is well saturated in this area!) to get your weekday lunch fix. It also took awhile to get our food.

Stepping inside Tustin legacy hall and experience some sushi that is fresh, tasty priced on point! The owner is always so kind and patient . This is my fav go to sushi spot for lunch. Stop on by!

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and a spicy tuna roll (cut).

I really enjoy Sushiya in the Mess Hall. There isn't a ton to say about it. I typically get the Tonkotsu Ramen (ask for it spicy) and a sushi roll. The ramen is solid. The broth is good and it's a good filler without going to a ramen shop. The star is their sushi. It looks and tastes very fresh. Their rolls are are decent size and they have a good variety. Sometimes I get the poke bowl. It has a few varsities of fish on it and it isn't overly weighted with crazy toppings. It's pretty filling too with the perfect amount of rice. My only real issue with this spot is the cost. Like most of the spots in Mess Hall, it's very expensive. Be ready to spend about $30-$40 per person here.

Unfortunately, the service really overshadowed the entire experience. I was seated before the couple next to me, yet they had already received their drinks, soup, and even some of their sushi before anyone came to my table. It made for a very rough start and honestly took away the excitement of trying a new place. I always enjoy supporting local restaurants and I'm happy to tip well when the service is great, so it was disappointing that this experience didn't live up to that. I will say one of the servers was very kind--it just seemed like she was overwhelmed and handling a lot at once. Also, the gentleman walking around the dining room came across as very unhappy and unapproachable. I don't know what he may have had going on that day, but in the hospitality industry, your attitude plays a big role in the customer's experience. A smile or friendly interaction can make a huge difference. Overall, I probably wouldn't return. Orange County has so many great sushi spots to choose from, and based on this experience, I'd rather explore somewhere else next time.

We ordered the following: Agedashi Tofu: This was honestly the highlight of the meal. I have been craving this appetizer, but not many places around here actually offer it. The last place I tried this was at Haku, and I was not impressed by it. However, the tofu here was really good! It was hot, crispy, and the sauce was perfectly sweet and salty. It comes with 4 larger sized pieces of tofu, which I thought was great, but could have been more for the price. Stir Fry Udon: This dish was advertised outside on one of their stand up signs by the front door. This is part of what brought us in, but upon receiving it, I was not too impressed. The sauce was extremely dark and it already looked salty. When I actually tasted it, I was not surprised that it tasted exactly how it looked. It was way too salty and saucey to the point, we were eating one bite then drinking water right after. It was a pretty simple dish with what looked like frozen carrots and peas and some cut up chicken. Lunch Bento Box Option 2: We opted in for the teriyaki salmon, gyoza, and salmon roll. It came with a side of salad and miso soup. The salmon was cut very thin and it did not have enough teriyaki sauce on it. It was on the dry side. The gyoza was nothing too special. Just felt frozen then dried with gyoza sauce. Miso soup and salad were also just decent. The best part of this meal probably had to be the salmon roll. I liked the big portions of salmon and the little rice on the outside. This was the perfect balance instead of just getting a mouthful of rice each bit like most other sushi places do. I think this place was decent, overall. The prices were definitely on the higher side for what you get. Nothing too much to rave about other than the agedashi tofu, so I will be by for that again, but not sure if I would necessarily get anything else. Service was attentive and great. Just know, not all their offerings are actually listed on the menu, so we did not even know how much the stir fry udon was until we got charged for it.

This place nickel and dimes customers for everything. We were charged $6 just to add cucumber to a roll, $4 to add gobo, and even an extra charge to add lemon. The biggest issue wasn't even the prices, it was that our waiter never mentioned any of these upcharges when we ordered. If you're going to charge premium prices for simple additions, customers deserve to be told beforehand. We've eaten at countless sushi restaurants over the years, and we've never been charged these kinds of fees for basic add-ons, especially without any warning.
