Came here for lunch today. We came right as 11:00 as soon as they're open do there was no wait. Both, myself and my brother in-law had the Miso cod and my sister had the Hamachi Kama. Miso cod, the fish was very fresh and delicious. The lunch special came with steamed rice, a small salad, preserved bamboo shoots, and tempura. Everything was excellent and just the right amount. The hamachi Kama (fatty, flavorful collar of the yellowtail fish) was grilled and also very delicious, per my sister. I am still full from lunch! Service was great and attentive. Not pictured, the miso cod bento box that I demolished in 15 minutes. First time here and that lunch bento box did not disappoint! The cod was honestly pretty small so I was apprehensive about the taste, but it was so soft and juicy and flavorful. So good... everything in the "box" was good. The roll was okay. I didn't realize the salmon on top would be seared so was a bit disappointed at that, and the spicy tuna inside was whatever. Get that bento box for lunch!! read more

Heard about this hidden gem from the homie and so we had to check it out. The place was nice and clean. Workers there are fast and efficient. This restaurant is like an upscale version of Kabuki and it's way better, but not like Nobu. Vibes feel similiar though. We ordered lots of food. We ordered a Blue-Fin, Salmon, Tuna, Scallop, and Uni Sashimi. We got like three sushi rolls, chili oiled edamame, Karaage Chicken, Glazed Miso Cod with pumpkin sauce, Fried Shrimp Head, and lastly the seafood broil with mini bread. My favorite was the sashimi and the pumpkin glazed cod! The fish was soft and tender, and it just melts in your tongue. The Uni was creamy like butter and a little salty. The flavor profile is all there and unique. Theres wasn't a dish that wasn't bad or fishy. We also ordered Sapporo and Soju to get the day started! Gotta have good drinks with good food. The bill was about $400, but it was totally worth every penny. The food quality and price is fair. For four people we definitely got freakin full. We went here for my friends birthday. The whole group got the omakase and I got some appetizers and vegan rolls since I'm vegetarian. We were a little disappointed with the time that everything came out. It took about 2 hours to completely get all the food. And since my friends ordered the omakase I was not given my food until an hour in to match their timing. I had called the server over to ask for my food because I noticed tables that were sat way after us were being given their rolls already and she said it'll be out shortly. I think it came out 30 minutes later. There were only 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant. So I ended up just slowly eating the appetizers for an hour. The server originally told us the whole omakase would take about an hour. It took two. As for the food the tempura was pretty good. It's a huge dish. Not the usually 4 piece tempura at most places. The agedashi tofu wasn't my favorite. It wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. And since I had to wait the hour for my food it got soggy pretty quick. The vegan rolls weren't bad. They were pretty big but didn't have a lot of flavor. Just a few vegetables wrapped in rice. As for the omakase my friend said some of the dishes were as good. I got the Moscow mule and for some reason it was green. It tasted good but the bright green was interesting. The restaurant is pretty empty. There were a few times we were the only people in there. First of all, the service was outstanding. I had the Hokkaido gurume roll which was a unique combination of salmon scallops with spicy crab meat, asparagus and avocado. Delicious! My family and I like this place for sushi and udon. I get their Sushi Omakase at least once a month. I've tried other items from their menu, like the Gurume Omakase (which is only offered for dine-in only) and it wasn't as good as their Sushi Omakase. My kids eat their udon. Enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner for our son. Called to make a reservation and was seated immediately at the reserved time. The restaurant's main dining room has about 5-6 booths and about a dozen tables. (I would have preferred to sit at a booth but those were all taken... next time I will request a booth when making a reservation). There's a separate sushi bar, as well as a regular bar area and outdoor patio that looks like it would be nice to hang out when the weather is warmer. The food was really good. We ordered four different rolls as well as the Virginia pancake (green onions, scallop, shrimp and langostinos). I really enjoyed the pancake to start and my husband and I both agreed that the Hokkaido Garume roll was our favorite. The birthday boy loved the Spider roll followed by the baked salmon roll. We finished every bite! I let the hostess know we were celebrating my son's birthday and they were very sweet to bring out some green tea ice cream with a candle for him! This is a very nice sushi restaurant. Very clean, spacious, and with a good menu. The dishes are definitely on the pricey side but I think the quality and portions make it worth it. I had the sushi harmony lunch combo. While it doesn't sound like a lot, the pieces of sushi are really fresh and the portions are very large. In fact, the cuts of fish are probably the thickest I've ever had ... And, I think I like it. The big thick pieces really give you a great mouth-feel for the texture of the fish and you can really taste the flavor. My wife had the hoedoepbap. She liked it a lot. I tried and and thought it was just ok. The portion was, again, very generous and the pieces of fish were very nice. Three of us came to celebrate our birthdays with lunch a few days ago. The Lunch Specials offered many good Teishoku choices. I picked the Unagi Don. My bowl had a generous amount of unagi over rice with pickled ginger, green onions, and sesame seeds. With the miso soup, salad, mixed tempura, tofu, pickled cabbage, orange slice, and kinpira renken (lotus root), it made a substantial lunch. I like my fries more fat and potato-ey but they are more on the skinnier/crispy side. It did have a lots of Parmesan 6.5/10 I got the Chirashi don lunch special ($25) it came with a miso soup. All the fish pieces were thick and so fresh. My favorite was the yellowtail that just melts in your mouth. (11/10) We also got the Gurume special don. Tried this place out for a quick lunch and LOVED IT!! The lunch special chirashi bowl was only $25 and I couldn't even finish it. Comes with miso soup too! Fish was fresh and cuts were thick, and I really liked the sushi rice. I came on a Monday afternoon so it was basically empty but the vibes are so good it's perfect for any casual occasion it is so nice inside too. Service was quick and kind. I wouldn't order the omakase here due to the disappointing experience with the assortment of fish in the chirashi. Okay if you're a sushi lover, this is the place to go! Yes, it's a little pricey but it kind of gives Ten Sushi vibes if you've ever been to the one in Irvine. The mis soup is perfect! I love the amount of green onions that come in it. The rolls are very unique so you're not going to find your regular Philadelphia cream cheese roll here or a spicy tuna roll it's more specialty. Tried the Gurume Omakase today. The premium ingredients used were reflected in the price of $120/person (after tax and tip, about $150/person). Ingredients like ankimo monkfish liver, hotate scallop, oyster, sea urchin, abalone...although fresh, the flavor was not outstanding. For example, in the trio of appetizers, the raw oyster topped with ikura, caviar, and uni looked super appealing...but when actually eaten, it lacked a punch of seafood umami. The ingredients taste "normal" and not complementing. The hotate scallop miso zuke is another example of a dish that I would have loved if the flavor profile is right...but it really was tasteless. All the dishes were beautifully presented...but they look much better than the taste. The sashimi and nigiri sushi were decent. So I'd recommend skipping the multi course omakase menu and focus on just the sashimi and sushi. Oh...and bring some bug spray if you sit close to the entrance. I have never been bitten by mosquitos while dining indoors in OC until today. My husband got bitten on his fingers and I got bitten TWICE on my feet. Obviously this place is no secret. It's already vastly popular and there was already a wait on a Friday for lunch. For some of the best sushi I've had outside of Japan, it was worth it! I ordered the lunch omakase and they chose a variety of fresh fish, not just your typical fare. Everything was as it should be. The rice was pleasantly warm and the fish was not ice-cold. The rice itself was seasoned to perfection with just the right texture and separation between the rice grains. The sushi chefs are experienced and balanced all of the flavors remarkably well. There was not too much wasabi, soy sauce, or yuzu to overpower any of the fish. Each piece was complete in and of itself, no need for dipping in soy sauce or wasabi (ok fine, maybe 1-2 could have used just a touch more wasabi). My favorites were the red snapper, black cod, and toro + uni. Yuzu cheesecake was also great, densely cheesy with a lightly caramelized and torched surface resembling crème brûlée. Wish they'd have included a bit more yuzu flavor and strawberry on the side but otherwise an excellent dessert. Ambiance was pleasant, with not too much noise to overwhelm conversation. Lighting indoors was soft and warm, welcoming and good for taking photos (haha). Despite the restaurant being so busy, my waitress checked in on me and refilled my tea twice. Friend ordered the agedashi tofu which was crispy and flavorful. The group I was with was ordering the meal set so I decided to try it with the salmon kama. It came with miso soup to start. The salmon kama was well seasoned, cooked, and fried but I wish it was boneless. A bit of a hassle mid bite before realizing that there were bones hiding. As I made my way to the other dishes, I enjoyed the crispy and flavorful tempura. The tofu with black sesame dressing / sauce on top was a nice and unique side dish. Tofu had a soft texture. I liked the black sesame that whatever sauce I had left, I dipped one of my salmon sashimi in it. It also came with an orange slice for dessert. Since the restaurant seems more upscale Japanese vibes, the meal set seemed the most budget friendly and reasonable for the amount of food you get since the entrees were at least $21. It had a good amount of langoustine chunks throughout, but the overall dish was not savory or cheesy enough for my taste. Would not get again. Gurume is my go-to spot whenever im craving sushi, especially for lunch. I visit often because I can always count on consistently fresh sushi and generous portions, which is surprisingly hard to find. One of the best parts is even when I walk in without a reservation, the wait is usually minimal. The menu is extensive, offering a great mix of both cooked and raw dishes, so there's something for everyone. My son always enjoys the grilled fish while my daughter prefers the udon. The restaurant itself is spacious and very clean, with a sushi bar in the back enclosed by a glass divider, which adds a nice touch. There's also patio seating which is nicely set up. It's all about timing. The restaurant is a small to medium size dining area with soft pop music of cover songs playing in the background. A couple of the wait staff must've been tired or something. Maybe the end of the lunch rush tiredness. There were several pieces of paper which made the menus a little confusing. An edit or update to the lunch menu needs to be made because it was deceiving. The menu says that the lunch specials are not valid on the weekends or holiday. So we initially did not bother to look at that menu until we asked our server some questions. We selected a couple items from the lunch menu and a salmon tataki roll. The fish was fresh, and the slices of sashimi were thick. Been here at least 10 times since they opened. Food is acceptable but overpriced, as is everything in Irvine, CA. One thing that stands out is the very slow service, it doesnt matter if we are the first couple groups before lunch or dinner or at a more peak hour. Service is slow. Often times appetizers come 20-30 minutes after ordering. Or an appetizer will come, then one entree, and then another 20 minutes before the next entree. This makes for a very bad experience in a group setting. Normally you wait for everyone to have their meals before begining. My last visit we got 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. 15 min for first apetizer not bad, then 25 minutes in first entree which was a hot food. Didnt want to let it go cold. 35 minutes in second entree. 45 minutes in next set of entree. This experience is consistent with evey visit. Not a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal.
