Vegetable tempura
Prajna P.

We went here for my friends birthday. The whole group got the omakase and I got some appetizers and vegan rolls since I'm vegetarian. We were a little disappointed with the time that everything came out. It took about 2 hours to completely get all the food. And since my friends ordered the omakase I was not given my food until an hour in to match their timing. I had called the server over to ask for my food because I noticed tables that were sat way after us were being given their rolls already and she said it'll be out shortly. I think it came out 30 minutes later. There were only 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant. So I ended up just slowly eating the appetizers for an hour. The server originally told us the whole omakase would take about an hour. It took two. As for the food the tempura was pretty good. It's a huge dish. Not the usually 4 piece tempura at most places. The agedashi tofu wasn't my favorite. It wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. And since I had to wait the hour for my food it got soggy pretty quick. The vegan rolls weren't bad. They were pretty big but didn't have a lot of flavor. Just a few vegetables wrapped in rice. As for the omakase my friend said some of the dishes were as good. I got the Moscow mule and for some reason it was green. It tasted good but the bright green was interesting. The restaurant is pretty empty. There were a few times we were the only people in there. So I think you can get seated easily if you stop by.

Hot Night roll

Exquisite menu. Fast and friendly service. Restaurant and restroom were clean. The only downside is there were a lot of fruit flies, one flew right onto our Hot Night Roll right before we were about to eat it! They graciously replaced it though, so no worries. Tried: Hot Night Roll, 1 oyster w uni, ikura and caviar, 1 handroll with toro, uni and caviar, lemon pepper salmon sashimi, takoyaki, green tea panna cotta Everything we tried was yummy. The cuts of salmon sashimi were meaty and tender. The uni, ikura and caviar were great. To-go (TBD): salmon teriyaki, yuzu & matcha cheesecakes The matcha panna cotta which was out of this world! The taste of the matcha reminded me of green tea cookies I had at Blowfish in 2007/2008; the perfect balance of matcha, not too bitter and not too sweet, yet it was strong and vibrant. We got the yuzu and green tea cheesecakes to go (TBD) and intend on trying the black sesame creme brûlée next.

Sushi Omakase

My family and I like this place for sushi and udon. I get their Sushi Omakase at least once a month. I've tried other items from their menu, like the Gurume Omakase (which is only offered for dine-in only) and it wasn't as good as their Sushi Omakase. My kids eat their udon. The noodles are chewy and the broth has a lot of flavor. Most of the time, we order our food to-go, but the service is always great.

Wonderful sushi rolls (baked salmon, spider, marathon and Hokkaido Garume)

Enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner for our son. Called to make a reservation and was seated immediately at the reserved time. The restaurant's main dining room has about 5-6 booths and about a dozen tables. (I would have preferred to sit at a booth but those were all taken... next time I will request a booth when making a reservation). There's a separate sushi bar, as well as a regular bar area and outdoor patio that looks like it would be nice to hang out when the weather is warmer. The food was really good. We ordered four different rolls as well as the Virginia pancake (green onions, scallop, shrimp and langostinos). I really enjoyed the pancake to start and my husband and I both agreed that the Hokkaido Garume roll was our favorite. The birthday boy loved the Spider roll followed by the baked salmon roll. We finished every bite! I let the hostess know we were celebrating my son's birthday and they were very sweet to bring out some green tea ice cream with a candle for him! Looking forward to returning and trying out some of the other menu items.

This is a very nice sushi restaurant. Very clean, spacious, and with a good menu. The dishes are definitely on the pricey side but I think the quality and portions make it worth it. I had the sushi harmony lunch combo. While it doesn't sound like a lot, the pieces of sushi are really fresh and the portions are very large. In fact, the cuts of fish are probably the thickest I've ever had ... And, I think I like it. The big thick pieces really give you a great mouth-feel for the texture of the fish and you can really taste the flavor. My wife had the hoedoepbap. She liked it a lot. I tried and and thought it was just ok. The portion was, again, very generous and the pieces of fish were very nice. But I thought there was too much cabbage and it gave it a little bit of a bitter flavor that I didn't like that much. Still, a very high quality sushi place.

Been here a few times and even did takeout once. They serve quality sushi which means they're not cheap but not over priced and the restaurant is beautiful. The servers are extremely nice and helpful.

salmon kama meal set
Ainsley J.

Incredible service, very nice outdoor seating area, fresh delicious fish, and amazing prices. I couldn't recommend this spot more if you're looking for good sushi and fish. Our waitress was so friendly and service was super fast. We got the salmon kama meal set that came with tempura veggies, miso, rice, salad, our choice of sashimi, and a massive salmon collar. So much delicious food for only $28. We probably could have just split that for dinner but we got the marathon roll as well and I would highly recommend trying one of their unique, and incredible rolls! Can't wait to come back for more good food and vibes!

Sushi & sashimi omakase $90

Came here for lunch today. They have a lot of lunch specials at amazing prices. I ordered the chirashi bowl for $25. It came with plenty of sashimi slices over a generous amount of rice along with a side of miso soup. The quality of the fish is super fresh and cut thick - just how I like it. Be sure to order the Kizami wasabi to go with it. I believe it runs $3.50. Service was good. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive.

Miso Black Cod Teishoku Lunch Special
Aileen J.

Three of us came to celebrate our birthdays with lunch a few days ago. The Lunch Specials offered many good Teishoku choices. I picked the Unagi Don. My bowl had a generous amount of unagi over rice with pickled ginger, green onions, and sesame seeds. With the miso soup, salad, mixed tempura, tofu, pickled cabbage, orange slice, and kinpira renken (lotus root), it made a substantial lunch. B chose the Gurume Special Don for her Teishoku and R had the Miso Black Cod for her Teishoku. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Our server noticed our gift bags and we told her that we were celebrating all 3 birthdays today. She kindly brought us a dish of mochi ice cream topped with a lit candle as a birthday treat! Another fine meal with good service.

Gurume special don

WOW! Came here to try their lunch special. No wait, came around 1ish on a Wednesday. We ordered their Parmesan fries, tasted standard. I like my fries more fat and potato-ey but they are more on the skinnier/crispy side. It did have a lots of Parmesan 6.5/10 I got the Chirashi don lunch special ($25) it came with a miso soup. All the fish pieces were thick and so fresh. My favorite was the yellowtail that just melts in your mouth. (11/10) We also got the Gurume special don. This one came as a whole set, tempura, soup, salad, tofu sesame dessert thing. I didn't try much of their food but the food was eaten clean so assuming it was all delicious too. First time here, would definitely come back for their lunch or to try their omakase !

Tried this place out for a quick lunch and LOVED IT!! The lunch special chirashi bowl was only $25 and I couldn't even finish it. Comes with miso soup too! Fish was fresh and cuts were thick, and I really liked the sushi rice. I came on a Monday afternoon so it was basically empty but the vibes are so good it's perfect for any casual occasion it is so nice inside too. Service was quick and kind. Also special mention for the tempura here- soooo crispy and light seriously so good. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good sushi!!!!

Gurume Fresh Roll
Rachel N.

Fantastic and cozy little sushi spot with easy parking! Highly recommend the Fuego roll and the Gurume Fresh roll. Portions for the veggie tempura are also very generous, and they have a pretty extensive vegan menu as well. We were able to grab a table without a wait and food arrived fairly quickly.

Afterwards, the owner stopped by to say hi and since it was our first visit, he gave us shots for the whole table. Very kind of him. Food was great - we ordered a couple of things to share including the 6100 blue corn sourdough, chicken oysters, pork belly, spring onion pancake, and pork, please and prawn fried rice. My personal favorite was the fried rice, but everything else was tasty too! We also got dessert which was the pandan butterscotch pudding - yummy! Service was wonderful. They were attentive and kind and quick. They brought out some birthday ice cream for the two birthday girls in the party. Ambiance was great. We came with reservations on Saturday night before Mother's Day. The first thing I thought when I walked in was that there was a live band playing with bad speakers because the music was so loud. But when I saw there was no band, I thought maybe their speakers were broken because the music had that scratchiness to it. Then I realized it was a DJ spinning vinyls with foreign music from the 1950's with that scratchy vintage sound on full blast (think shrill trumpets and shrill voices.) Now don't get me wrong, the music was wonderful and very unique ( again, a lot of foreign songs) with a few I even knew...my husband and I loved most of the songs that were played. HOWEVER not when it's so loud that we can't even hear our own thoughts! I felt annoyed within the first 5 minutes of being seated when my family and I had to keep repeating ourselves, and my husband even went to check the rest of the place to see if it was any quieter anywhere else, but it was blaring music everywhere. I ended up ordering for my whole table of 8 people because we couldn't even hear each other over the music to make suggestions on what to order. My adult kids (all in their 20's) kept apologizing for recommending this place for my mother's day dinner. But oh my, the food was delicious---practically everything I ordered was amazing! OMG the hangar steak skewers, pork belly skewers, iberico pork secreto steak, little gem salad, and their bread with goatmilk -butter were my faves! We also had the short ribs and the pork fried rice with prawns but they were mid...nothing to write home about. This would've been a great place to come have a drink at the bar for happy hour or even late at night on a weekend since they open until 1am on thursday, friday, saturday... but don't come for dinner unless you bring earplugs and learn sign language or know how to read lips because there will be no conversations over dinner unless it's just to the person sitting next to you. Even so, I noticed the young couple next to us looking very annoyed-- they got up and left after quickly finishing up their one cocktail while the speakers blared out an instrumental piece of a girl moaning the whole time until she climaxed. Heck---I'll have whatever SHE'S having lol So plz keep the music down several notches until after 10pm, and let the rest of us enjoy our dinner so that we can sing praises on how delicious everything was. Until you do, I think I'll cross this place off my list for now and revisit again sometime in the FAR future.

I was disappointed in the patatas bravas, however, which I felt lacked much flavor. The cocktails were exceptional. I enjoyed a classic dirty martini, their specialty vaca tonic (A+ cocktail), and had their non-alcoholic drink called Starry Night (very delicious, but not worth $16). The setting is quite breath-taking, with the restaurant decorated with elaborate cuts of meat and wine bottles. The lighting is very warm-toned and elegant. First off, my friends had sat at the bar for a good 20 min before the bartender finally acknowledged them and took our drink order. Even then she was not very nice and totally made other patrons orders who had sat down after us before even trying to deliver our drinks to us. Once the drinks were delivered, they were pretty much slammed onto the bar counter rather than being delivered with care. Yikes. I had asked for a bar napkin because the rim was sticky and she completely ignored me. So rude. Our reservation on a Friday night with a show happening at Segerstrom was at 7:45pm which means the show crowd should have already left by this point. We easily didn't get seated until 8:15-8:20pm for a 7:45pm reservation because our table was lingering. Seems like poor table management on the restaurant's part to be that far behind schedule. Once we sat down, we did our best to order right away as we were starving and was pretty sure it would take awhile for the food to come out. Our server greeted us within a few min of sitting down and since we were ready to order by the time she showed up, we ordered everything from appetizers to full meal. Started with the croquetas and gambas. Both were good but honestly I've had better. The sauce for the gambas felt like the ratio of the sherry was a bit much and not enough spice. Ended up with the Paella Valenciana which was okay, but the flavors felt kind of bland and the scallops and shrimp inside seemed like they could have been cooked more thoroughly. I believe we got the 12oz New York Steak to share, and it felt the meat itself was super tender but lacked a bit of flavor for my liking. We wanted the broccolini but they ran out so ended up with the Brussel sprouts instead which were very good. Overall the ambiance inside the restaurant is a bit tight and chaotic for my liking. I definitely like the bar area better than the tables which were very close together, so may have to try dining at the bar next time.
