Probably the most popular Japanese Restaurant in the Irvine area for the discerning foodies sits smack dab of the busiest open mall on Culver Street is my favorite! It's not my thing to go and eat Raw Fish. My family however desires to eat the freshest raw fish from the best Japanese restaurant at anytime anywhere! Well, we all agree that of all Sushi Restaurants, this one has the best of everything and more. The service staffs are experienced and efficient, the Sushi Chef and Sous Chefs are extremely coordinated and deliver the best creations of the Sashimi, Sushi, Miso Soup and Unagi. You've got to try it. It's simply the best!

Vegetable tempura

We went here for my friends birthday. The whole group got the omakase and I got some appetizers and vegan rolls since I'm vegetarian. We were a little disappointed with the time that everything came out. It took about 2 hours to completely get all the food. And since my friends ordered the omakase I was not given my food until an hour in to match their timing. I had called the server over to ask for my food because I noticed tables that were sat way after us were being given their rolls already and she said it'll be out shortly. I think it came out 30 minutes later. There were only 4 tables seated in the whole restaurant. So I ended up just slowly eating the appetizers for an hour. The server originally told us the whole omakase would take about an hour. It took two. As for the food the tempura was pretty good. It's a huge dish. Not the usually 4 piece tempura at most places. The agedashi tofu wasn't my favorite. It wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. And since I had to wait the hour for my food it got soggy pretty quick. The vegan rolls weren't bad. They were pretty big but didn't have a lot of flavor. Just a few vegetables wrapped in rice. As for the omakase my friend said some of the dishes were as good. I got the Moscow mule and for some reason it was green. It tasted good but the bright green was interesting. The restaurant is pretty empty. There were a few times we were the only people in there. So I think you can get seated easily if you stop by.

Hot Night roll

Exquisite menu. Fast and friendly service. Restaurant and restroom were clean. The only downside is there were a lot of fruit flies, one flew right onto our Hot Night Roll right before we were about to eat it! They graciously replaced it though, so no worries. Tried: Hot Night Roll, 1 oyster w uni, ikura and caviar, 1 handroll with toro, uni and caviar, lemon pepper salmon sashimi, takoyaki, green tea panna cotta Everything we tried was yummy. The cuts of salmon sashimi were meaty and tender. The uni, ikura and caviar were great. To-go (TBD): salmon teriyaki, yuzu & matcha cheesecakes The matcha panna cotta which was out of this world! The taste of the matcha reminded me of green tea cookies I had at Blowfish in 2007/2008; the perfect balance of matcha, not too bitter and not too sweet, yet it was strong and vibrant. We got the yuzu and green tea cheesecakes to go (TBD) and intend on trying the black sesame creme brûlée next.

Sushi Omakase

My family and I like this place for sushi and udon. I get their Sushi Omakase at least once a month. I've tried other items from their menu, like the Gurume Omakase (which is only offered for dine-in only) and it wasn't as good as their Sushi Omakase. My kids eat their udon. The noodles are chewy and the broth has a lot of flavor. Most of the time, we order our food to-go, but the service is always great.

Wonderful sushi rolls (baked salmon, spider, marathon and Hokkaido Garume)

Enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner for our son. Called to make a reservation and was seated immediately at the reserved time. The restaurant's main dining room has about 5-6 booths and about a dozen tables. (I would have preferred to sit at a booth but those were all taken... next time I will request a booth when making a reservation). There's a separate sushi bar, as well as a regular bar area and outdoor patio that looks like it would be nice to hang out when the weather is warmer. The food was really good. We ordered four different rolls as well as the Virginia pancake (green onions, scallop, shrimp and langostinos). I really enjoyed the pancake to start and my husband and I both agreed that the Hokkaido Garume roll was our favorite. The birthday boy loved the Spider roll followed by the baked salmon roll. We finished every bite! I let the hostess know we were celebrating my son's birthday and they were very sweet to bring out some green tea ice cream with a candle for him! Looking forward to returning and trying out some of the other menu items.

This is a very nice sushi restaurant. Very clean, spacious, and with a good menu. The dishes are definitely on the pricey side but I think the quality and portions make it worth it. I had the sushi harmony lunch combo. While it doesn't sound like a lot, the pieces of sushi are really fresh and the portions are very large. In fact, the cuts of fish are probably the thickest I've ever had ... And, I think I like it. The big thick pieces really give you a great mouth-feel for the texture of the fish and you can really taste the flavor. My wife had the hoedoepbap. She liked it a lot. I tried and and thought it was just ok. The portion was, again, very generous and the pieces of fish were very nice. But I thought there was too much cabbage and it gave it a little bit of a bitter flavor that I didn't like that much. Still, a very high quality sushi place.

Been here a few times and even did takeout once. They serve quality sushi which means they're not cheap but not over priced and the restaurant is beautiful. The servers are extremely nice and helpful.

salmon kama meal set
Ainsley J.

Incredible service, very nice outdoor seating area, fresh delicious fish, and amazing prices. I couldn't recommend this spot more if you're looking for good sushi and fish. Our waitress was so friendly and service was super fast. We got the salmon kama meal set that came with tempura veggies, miso, rice, salad, our choice of sashimi, and a massive salmon collar. So much delicious food for only $28. We probably could have just split that for dinner but we got the marathon roll as well and I would highly recommend trying one of their unique, and incredible rolls! Can't wait to come back for more good food and vibes!

Sushi & sashimi omakase $90

Came here for lunch today. They have a lot of lunch specials at amazing prices. I ordered the chirashi bowl for $25. It came with plenty of sashimi slices over a generous amount of rice along with a side of miso soup. The quality of the fish is super fresh and cut thick - just how I like it. Be sure to order the Kizami wasabi to go with it. I believe it runs $3.50. Service was good. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive.

Miso Black Cod Teishoku Lunch Special
Aileen J.

Three of us came to celebrate our birthdays with lunch a few days ago. The Lunch Specials offered many good Teishoku choices. I picked the Unagi Don. My bowl had a generous amount of unagi over rice with pickled ginger, green onions, and sesame seeds. With the miso soup, salad, mixed tempura, tofu, pickled cabbage, orange slice, and kinpira renken (lotus root), it made a substantial lunch. B chose the Gurume Special Don for her Teishoku and R had the Miso Black Cod for her Teishoku. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Our server noticed our gift bags and we told her that we were celebrating all 3 birthdays today. She kindly brought us a dish of mochi ice cream topped with a lit candle as a birthday treat! Another fine meal with good service.

Gurume special don

WOW! Came here to try their lunch special. No wait, came around 1ish on a Wednesday. We ordered their Parmesan fries, tasted standard. I like my fries more fat and potato-ey but they are more on the skinnier/crispy side. It did have a lots of Parmesan 6.5/10 I got the Chirashi don lunch special ($25) it came with a miso soup. All the fish pieces were thick and so fresh. My favorite was the yellowtail that just melts in your mouth. (11/10) We also got the Gurume special don. This one came as a whole set, tempura, soup, salad, tofu sesame dessert thing. I didn't try much of their food but the food was eaten clean so assuming it was all delicious too. First time here, would definitely come back for their lunch or to try their omakase !

Tried this place out for a quick lunch and LOVED IT!! The lunch special chirashi bowl was only $25 and I couldn't even finish it. Comes with miso soup too! Fish was fresh and cuts were thick, and I really liked the sushi rice. I came on a Monday afternoon so it was basically empty but the vibes are so good it's perfect for any casual occasion it is so nice inside too. Service was quick and kind. Also special mention for the tempura here- soooo crispy and light seriously so good. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good sushi!!!!

I'll be real, this spot wasn't in the plans for my girlfriend's birthday but schedules changed and…read moreso plans had to chance. Spent a good amount of time browsing Yelp and OpenTable to find a new spot to end the night. Came across TEN on yelp and I'm glad I found this spot. I made a reservation and was a little late due to a previous plan that ended a little later than expected. They sat us right away regardless and the owner greeted us. I asked Brian what his choice of drink is and the crazy thing is I scanned the menu and this drink caught my eye, which he then recommended as his go to, the Yuz it or Lose it. My girlfriend had the Lychee Rose. Started with the Chicken Gyoza and Japanese Nachos for appetizers and ordered the BG roll and Keoni roll. Throughout the night Brian would stop by and made conversation with us a couple times, super attentive and super friendly! At the end of the night Brian brought out a surprise Melted Chocolate Cake with Ice cream and chocolate drizzle & whipped cream on the side, along with what tasted like two shots that tasted like melon? I'm not sure but they were a 5/5! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside. The mix they had playing through the restaurant was absolute fire and it isn't too loud either, you can still hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. They have a parking structure and you'll receive a parking ticket which TEN validates. Yuz it or Lose it: 5/5 A very refreshing and balanced drink. Lychee Rose: 5/5 On the sweeter side but still balanced and the lychee garnish is a nice touch to end the drink Japanese Nachos: 5/5 I literally had to fight the urge to not share these with my girlfriend they're a party in your mouth. (We subbed the spicy tuna for regular tuna) Chicken Gyoza: 5/5 I'm normally a pork gyoza type of person but these were great, nice and juicy and whatever sauce they have at the bottom of the dish was bomb. I literally poured that sauce into my dipping cup instead of the soy sauce that is available BG Roll: 5/5 This roll is tasty and very fresh since there are no cooked items in/on it and the jalapeños on top are a nice touch as well, especially with a little of that sauce from the Chicken Gyoza dish Keoni Roll: 5/5 The eel sauce is a nice touch to this roll along with the jalapeño sauce that they spread on the plate. Shoutout to Brian again! You've earned repeat customers! We will be back

Today we went there not knowing of the change. The food is now certainly "all you can eat" quality. We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. I really enjoyed our date night at this sushi restaurant! Overall I felt like the sushi was…read morehigh-quality and had a lot of unique flavors that kept things fresh and exciting. You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

Celebrated our anniversary !…read more Service was good and friendly. The flavors were beautiful! We sat like in the center of the restaurant. It's one of my fear LOL. But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!
