I have had some of the best sushi here--and, occasionally, some of my least enjoyable restaurant experiences. Fortunately, the good visits have outnumbered the bad ones, which is why I continue to come back. The sushi itself is usually excellent. It is fresh, well prepared, and consistently good enough that, living nearby, I consider myself a semi-regular customer. Where the restaurant falls short is consistency of service. The staff seems to change remarkably often, and the chances of getting a genuinely friendly, attentive server sometimes feel like roughly 50/50. Some have been wonderful; others have made me wonder whether it was their first day in the restaurant--or perhaps their last. Interestingly, the sushi counter seems to be a different world altogether. I am generally not a great fan of counter seating, but here it may actually be the best place to sit. I have yet to have an unpleasant interaction with anyone working behind the counter. They have consistently been friendly, professional, and welcoming. Then there is the dining room. The first three or four tables near the entrance are perfectly pleasant. The farther back you go toward the restrooms, however, the less inviting it becomes. That part of the restaurant feels dark, dingy, and neglected--almost like an afterthought. I have a difficult time imagining the owner sitting at one of those tables, looking around, and thinking, "Yes, this feels nice." I like this restaurant, and I keep returning because the sushi is usually very good and it is conveniently close to home. But the experience depends far too much on where you are seated and who happens to be serving you that day. With more consistent service and some attention paid to the back portion of the dining room, this could easily be a five-star restaurant for me. Until then, my recommendation is simple: Come for the sushi--and, if you have a choice, sit at the counter. read more

We waited for cop sticks soy sauce etc. We actually sat waiting for our check with no one paying any attention ugh. The menu is vast with photos of the various rolls and food choices. I stopped into Crazy Rock 'N Sushi today for lunch, and I was not disappointed! The restaurant was cozy and clean with Madonna playing on the stereo. The service was fast and friendly, with everyone helping out with bringing food and the check. I ordered the Tuna Tacos for an appetizer, yum! Three tacos came out on a bed of panko flakes. The tuna was served on light and delicately crisp shells, drizzled with Japanese mayo. Next was the trio of salmon sashimi, thick cut, and buttery. The lunch special is good value for sure but sushi just didn't taste that great- tasted like Lower end pre-frozen fish recently defrosted (vs fresh sashimi I am usually used to). I had ordered here 2 years ago and did not return due to fish were not fresh but today decided to o give them a second chance. Still, salmon and all the seared tuna and tuna sushi were all fishy, I even saw fish scales on my salmon rolls as well as a piece of bone sticking out. The menu is large with many rolls, appetizer, and entree options. I got a sashimi salad ($15), my friend got the chirashi ($30), and shared an albacore roll ($16). We also got a hot tea. The hot tea came out cold first but the waiter was nice and did not charge us for the 2nd one. Albacore roll had a citrus sauce, a little too much red onions on it but a lighter roll. Sashimi salad had decent amount of sashimi and light dressing. Not the best sashimi but filling and a solid meal. My friend liked her chirashi but said there was too much rice. Even worse, one of the sushi chefs was pounding something on the sushi bar prep area for the entire time we were at the restaurant except for the last five minutes.
