The Bonita Roll is amazing and I got to chat with the sweet lady working upfront a bit-- she made all the desserts in house, let me say that they all looked so good, i walked out with an extra ube cake and tiramisu crepe cake to try when i get home I also got to try the creme brulee macaron: the caramelized sugar on top was perfectly torched and still crunchy despite being in a cold case! I will definitely be back if I am in the area again!

Super good, but I will be giving a 4/5 due to the portions. I feel like they need to include a little more for the prices they are selling at. It just isn't filling enough. There isn't much seating area inside, it is more of a grab and go place. The staff and service was alright, nothing spectacular.

The sweet owner gave my friend and I free watermelon on a hot day and we were so happy ! The food was so good too and it's especially good if you're craving rly good rolls please support this small business! You can get cakes, baked goods, and even instant ramen as well on top of your sushi. There's also Asian drinks too! There's not much seating inside but the seating outside is very nice at utc.

The way the staff makes food and communicates with customer was so nice. Foods taste so good and the desserts(cake) they have are so professionally made as well.

Ordered through the phone and the food was made fast. There was one lady working and she was very nice and sweet. I saw a huge display of cakes that looked scrumptious and would love to try when I get the chance! Bonita Roll (4/5): Fish tasted good and not fishy at all! Flavors were pretty good and I was impressed with the offerings they had for rolls at this store. My roll had spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and salmon on top which was delicious. My only complaint is that there was a lot of rice compared to the filling. Overall I'm very surprised by how decent the sushi here was and I would definitely come back here if I was looking for some sushi takeout next to UCI.

Convenient location in UTC by UCI! It's a takeout-only sushi spot, with ample parking and outdoor seating at the location. The lady working there was super nice. The prices are very reasonable. The Bonita Roll was tasty.

    Adorable Macarons

Super friendly and generous staff. It's a cute and cozy environment. They offer sushi, cake, macaron, etc. 100% recommend stopping by to check it out or to talk to the sweet lady

Amazing Macarons, not too sweet. Very fun and decorative. Great variety of beverages. Sushi was reasonable in price! So delicious each time.

    Meat lover crunch roll

"Meat lover crunch roll" includes a lot of meats and stuff! I love crispy bite feeling.

Indoor seating - really cute. I'd have eaten here if I wasn't in a hurry

3 months ago I had said I wasn't sure if I'd be back. 3 months later, I came to UTC with a coworker and we both wanted a quick lunch. He suggested this place and instead of saying no I didn't like it, I decided to give it another try. Because I don't ever say no to sushi, ever. Only this time I knew I wouldn't do the inaris again and just ordered off the specialty roll menu. I was deciding between the Double Salmon (salmon+avocado and salmon+avocado) and the Sakura (salmon, avocado, and crab meat) because, you guessed it, I love salmon and avocado! I ended up going for the latter since it was a couple dollars cheaper and I just wanted something light. And... I liked it! The pieces of salmon were quite a mouthful, which I felt like was worth more than the sum of smaller pieces of salmon. While I normally like good sushi rice, I don't mind that it got replaced by crab meat. And did I mention that I like avocados? The presentation of the Sakura is also insta-ready. Coworker complained about the excessive packaging that this place uses, which is a valid concern in this date and age. Maybe there are more eco-friendly options out there? And I still didn't get to try their desserts which looked ever so tempting. Most everything I laid eyes on behind the glass display looked good, but I really really want to try those basque cheesecake.... Well, I guess there will likely be a next time.

I don't usually go to all you can eat because I feel like the quality is not great. I don't know how Chobop does it but their all you can eat is one of the best I have ever had. The rice to fish ratio is perfect, the fish tastes fresh, the appetizers are delicious. Next time I will order less rolls because the nigiri was truly the star for me. Service was also incredible. Today we went there not knowing of the change. The food is now certainly "all you can eat" quality. We opted against the all you can eat limited menu, and ordered of the regular menu but the quality was terrible: 1. The toro nigri was chewy, very thinly cut, with a very small piece of rice. 2. We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. The rolls were small and for some reason all tasted the same with little flavor. If you like all you can eat sushi places which always offer low quality fish, you might like this place. We will miss sushi Imari and the great quality sushi they served.

I have never been charged left over before even if it was 10+ pieces at an AYCE. I doubt every single table who left 1-2 pieces got charged so we felt like it was unfair. Mind you it was $2-3 per piece not eaten. FOOD: 3/5. The only fish that were worth getting and delicious were the salmon and yellowtail. The tuna tasted terrible and had a sour after taste and the fish to rice ratio was terrible. First round was worse than the second. The mussels were delicious though and the kids ate their udon so must've been good. Honorable mention for their miso soup too. Probably the best I've had but I was there for the fish, not their sides. PRICE: 4/5. $38 for adults and $20 for kids under 10. The price is affordable and cheaper than most AYCE spots especially because sashimi is included. You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

I had to call in my order (they are on Doordash but the prices are lower if you call). It would be nice if you could order through their website, but it's not a big deal. We got shrimp tempura, chicken katsu with a side of curry, and an Alaskan roll. The food was all delicious! My daughter could not get enough of the Alaskan roll. It's simple and classic, especially if you love salmon. The chicken katsu was really good and I enjoyed dipping it in the curry. They don't offer potatoes or carrots in their curry sauce like some other Japanese restaurants do, which was a small disappointment, but I still really liked the curry. It had that "spicy" but not spicy flavor that comes from all the flavorful spices like ginger that are in the curry, but it wasn't hot (we ordered mild). The chicken katsu was a good portion side and it came with a side of rice and angel hair shredded cabbage. Cabbage isn't the most exciting vegetable, but I'll take it. The shrimp tempura was great too. The takeout bag was packaged really nicely and the katsu came in a fancy little box, so even though we were eating at home it felt a little more upscale. The cheese tonkotsu was honestly pretty heavy, lots lots of cheese. Honestly, I wouldn't get it again since I didn't feel like I got much meat simply because of how much cheese there was. I'm sure there was pork, it just felt like an extension of the breading.
