Ultimate Albacore Roll
Alexandra S.

Fish was grey and did not taste right. Ordered on Doordash. Will not be getting food from here again.

I shoulda ordered my sushi at the restaurant instead of DoorDash because they just added more stuffs on their menu. I think they are under a new ownership so everything was upgraded. I like my rolls THICK and Niko Niko didnt disappoint me. The staffs were nice and attentive. Will be coming here often.

Get your sushi combo rolls here. Nice Korean lady with good service and fresh vegetables but don't eat the bitter cucumbers please not fresh. Replace that with the two salmon Kama collar grilled as a wonderful alternative. They do have a great sashimi salad with tuna and salmon. Everything came out hot and fresh today for lunch time. Not busy here. Plenty of parking available and clean restroom available inside for customers. Overall a nice location for customers to enjoy their favorite sushi rolls during this renovation time.

Nigiri, albacore roll, bake green muscles muscles and calamari
My N.

Great spot for a quick and yummy lunch! My 3 year old, who is a picky eater loved the calamari and rice. We had the baked green muscles, albacore role, calamari, and some nigiri. I really enjoyed the crispy garlic on the albacore roll! Portions were generous and it was more than enough for our family of 4. Food was so great and the waitress was friendly! Will definitely come back for lunch.

Cliff Notes Price Range: $$ Parking: Plenty Perk: Food Non-Perk: Paying Ambiance: Felt like a typical small sushi place Dress: Comfy Noise: Low Temperature: A little cold Recommend: 100% Date: 06/09/2024 Dissertation: I recently met the popcorn scallops at Niko Niko Sushi, and honestly, I think we're in a committed relationship now. These little crispy scallop bites are dangerously good--like, "oops, I ate the whole plate before my sushi even arrived" good. Whatever magic they sprinkle on that sauce should come with a warning label: "Highly Addictive." One second, you're thinking, "I'll just try one," and the next you're sitting there with an empty plate, wondering where it all went wrong. Pro tip: Don't make the mistake of offering to share these. You'll regret it immediately. Hold your ground--this is a solo mission. If your friends want some, they can order their own.

Very small place in the middle a of SUPER BUSY strip mall. Great - inexpensive - very fresh - thick cut - sashimi and sushi. Huge - inexpensive - delicious - bento box. Good luck finding a parking spot but great cheap sushi spot

Nope, never ever again! This place is a disgrace to the Niko Niko name. I have been going to Niko Niko in Costa Mesa since the very beginning. Moved around California over the last 2 decades and have never been to this location. Currently, we go to the Burbank one which has been consistently 5/5 since we discovered it 7 years ago. I went to another location in Irvine and it was also as good as I remembered but this one makes grocery store sushi feel like a fine dining experience! We were in the area, hungry and exhausted so we just wanted something reliable. Easiest solution was to just call Niko Niko to pick up some rolls we knew and trusted. We realized we picked up the bootleg edition of Niko Niko once we opened the boxes. If you are looking for rice heavy rolls that look like they've been waiting all day to be served, this is your spot! On top of that, there was a little gift we found on one of the rolls. Can't tell if it was a very long eye lash, beard hair or idk? I know there are levels to sushi restaurants out there but how dare they represent Niko Niko like that. Lesson learned, not all Niko Nikos are built the same! Gave it 2 stars because parking was a breeze.

Philadelphia Roll

I always call to order a Philadelphia Roll with sriracha, jalapeños, and lemon on the side and they always have it ready to pick up in 7-10 minutes. The sushi itself is good quality and the lady up front is helpful. Overall I would recommend trying this restaurant.

3 Item Bento Combination
Pearlina K.

Ordered a 3 bento box combo with salmon, crunchy roll and spicy tuna roll. It also comes with rice, salad and soup. It was a good portion for lunch meal. I have no complaints. It's a basic roll so you cannot expect too much flavor.

Google image, but this is the hungry roll, one of my favorites! This is what it actually looks like too.

The pork was incredibly tender and juicy on the inside with that perfect crispy, golden crust on the outside. You can tell a lot of care goes into the preparation, from the precise frying to how everything is plated and served. Honestly, it reminded me a lot of the katsu I had in Osaka--simple, focused, and done really well. No unnecessary extras, just high-quality ingredients executed properly. The sides and sauces complemented everything perfectly, and the whole meal felt balanced and satisfying without being too heavy. If you're into tonkatsu or just want something done right, this place is absolutely worth it. Definitely a 5-star experience for me.

I do wish they had some more non fried options, but the fried stuff, they do well. It comes with the side dishes traditional to Japanese meals, and the katsu is veeeeeery crispy crunchy. Their curry flavor is pretty flavorful too but not mindblowing or particularly memorable. The wagyu hamburg was tender, juicy, but definitely salty. The gravy was alright because it was just salt forward. I loved the salad with it because it cut through the salt, but it got drenched in the gravy because it was put on the same plate. The rice was perfect and the miso soup was good, and I particularly liked the sweet potatoes. I liked the okra side but it was a little slimy for me and a little awkward to put in one's mouth with the goo. But once it was in my mouth it was great LOL. The service was great; they filled up our waters extensively and got everything perfect. Quick, efficient, accurate service is always amazing! And the restaurant itself is very cutely decorated in the Japanese style and I was pretty impressed with how cute it was since the outside can seem like an unassuming strip mall. Yummy food!!!

I don't usually go to all you can eat because I feel like the quality is not great. I don't know how Chobop does it but their all you can eat is one of the best I have ever had. The rice to fish ratio is perfect, the fish tastes fresh, the appetizers are delicious. Next time I will order less rolls because the nigiri was truly the star for me. Service was also incredible. For some reason all the yelp…read morereviews from sushi Imari has been migrated to this new "all you can eat sushi" place and that is neither fair or accurate. Today we went there not knowing of the change. The food is now certainly "all you can eat" quality. We opted against the all you can eat limited menu, and ordered of the regular menu but the quality was terrible: 1. The toro nigri was chewy, very thinly cut, with a very small piece of rice. 2. We could not tell the difference between regular salmon and the salmon belly nigri they brought us. It looked and tasted exactly the same. Definitely not fatty salmon belly. 3. The yellow tail belly was chewy. 4. All the fish in their nigri sushi were thinly cut with very little rice. Definitely all you can eat amount of fish. 5. The rolls were small and for some reason all tasted the same with little flavor. If you like all you can eat sushi places which always offer low quality fish, you might like this place. We will miss sushi Imari and the great quality sushi they served.

Randomly decided to try this place with the wife last night…read more I remembered there being a spot called mogu mogu here prior and confirmed with the waitress that it's the same menu! Spicy miso ramen: 9/10 Actually one of the better ramens I've had lately. The broth is creamier and isn't overpowering with chicken/beef flavor. The chashu was nice and tender as well. I really liked that their noodles were al dente and not too soft Deluxe mazemen: 8/10 Taking my first bite, I was instantly greeted with an explosion of umami. There's a LOT of flavor packed in this bowl and the noodles used are actually a bit thicker which is right up my alley. My only drawback on this dish was that I wished it came with some sort of veggies to cut through all the flavor. They also give you a small serving of rice at the end for you to mix into the bottom which was a nice addition Kurobota sausage: 7.5/10 We've recently been on a kurobota craze. Don't get me wrong, these were great but we've only had them charred and grilled before so I was taken aback when I saw that these were only steamed. Flavor was spot on but I'm a sucker for a nice char or crisp to my meat Overall, loved the service and small restaurant vibe of this spot. We were seated very quickly and the food came out even faster. Definitely come try this spot, I know we'll be back

The interior is cozy and small with authentic Japanese decorations/setup. Kinda felt like we were eating in Kyoto or something, lol. The lady who served us was friendly and gave us good recommendations. I think she was handling the whole operation to be honest. To start it off, we ordered their specialty chicken karaage and it was very delicious. It has a nice crispy and crunchy texture. The batter on the chicken was good and once you bite it, the meat is juicy and tender. Doesn't really need dipping since it's so good. As for the Mazemen, we ordered the Deluxe and Veggie one, both is a 5/5. Very flavorful and it tastes just like ramen, but without the soup. The presentation of the dish looks like a work of art. Very picture pretty. I ate that shit up within ten minutes. After that they give you a scoop of rice so you can mix it up with the leftover sauce. Lots of umami for sure. Definitely will come back again to try the other flavors. People, trust me and come through!

I really enjoyed our date night at this sushi restaurant! Overall I felt like the sushi was…read morehigh-quality and had a lot of unique flavors that kept things fresh and exciting. You won't find your typical rainbow rolls at this restaurant (I do love a good rainbow roll though). The rolls we ordered were the Snowflake (which was flavored with yuzu), the Lobster roll (which was so much more than a typical baked lobster/langostino roll), and the Are You Kidding Me roll, which was big on truffle flavor and came topped with fried onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Snowflake roll. It had multiple types of fish inside, and the yuzu flavor added the perfect fresh citrusy touch. It also came dotted with a tiny bit of sriracha (or some other spice) but it was just a hint and it's easy to wipe off if you don't want any spice. The Lobster roll was the star of the show. I give it a 10/10 for presentation, and it was also the best tasting one in my opinion. It was plated with a shelled lobster tail, which looks visually pleasing, but the most impressive part was right before serving, the waitress lit it on fire and handed it to us, as if it were flaming creme brulee or something. The flame actually wasn't on the roll itself, but was on what appeared to be a trail of salt (presumably soaked in some kind of alcohol to make it burn). It definitely was a cool effect and I've never seen anything like it in a sushi restaurant! Lastly, the Are You Kidding Me roll - this was my third favorite out of the three we ordered. It was pretty good but I think the truffle flavor was a bit strong. I'm also personally not a huge fan of fried onions on top of sushi since I think it clashes a bit with the freshness of the fish, and gives me too many bar food vibes. But it certainly was flavorful and my husband and I still finished it. We shared these three sushi rolls between the two of us and it was just the right amount of food to leave feeling full. Besides the food, the restaurant itself was nice although I'm not sure they really needed to have a live DJ there as opposed to having a Spotify Playlist. Didn't bother me but I don't think it really added much to the vibe. I would definitely eat here again!

Celebrated our anniversary !…read more Service was good and friendly. The flavors were beautiful! We sat like in the center of the restaurant. It's one of my fear LOL. But the flavors of the dishes eased my fear. It was delicious. I love salmon and uni when it comes to sushi and I would recommend others to try this place! Several people already saw my instagram post and asked the name of the restaurant! I'm very happy that the food turned out phenomenal! Toyko nacho (recommend) : it was messy to eat and had a kick of spice. I didn't mind the mess though. Lots of different flavors. Uni hotate yuzu: scallops topped with uni. Eating it was like butter. Sour flavor profile from the yuzu. A bit overpowering. And the maldon sea salt was interesting. So you get the texture of buttery soft from the scallop and uni and a crunch factor from the salt. 5pc Salmon nigiri: so fatty and buttery! If you love salmon then definitely get this. The presentation was so cute. It lays on a bed of ice. And throughout the dinner the pieces of salmon were chilled. Monster nigiri (recommend) : I don't think anything about this when my honey suggested order this. But once it got to the table and we ate it. Wow! This dish flavors stood out to me. The crispy sweet onions and sauce perfected the meal. Dragon: It was pretty tasty and decent. I know my honey liked it a lot. He prefers not to eat raw fish, so this was to his liking (I recommend to those who don't eat raw fish). Truffle essence (recommend) : The taste of truffle is weirdly addicting. The presentation was eye catching because the candle is keeping the truffle butter warm. The concept of dipping or pouring the truffle butter onto the roll was a fun way of eating. Snowflake roll: A lot of reviews mentioned this was a popular dish. I can see why it was popular. It's literally a bunch of fish in a roll! Haha, fish lover this would be perfect to order. Crunchy roll: It was a decent roll, but a bit dryer than I expected. Orders and ratings: Tokyo nacho 9/10. Uni hotate yuzu 10/10. 5pc Salmon nigiri 10/10. Monster 11/10. Dragon 8/10. Truffle essence 9/10. Snowflake roll 10/10. Crunchy roll 6/10. Thank you!

Thankfully, they had a booster seat available to have our child sit on. We ordered a miso ramen, a spicy black garlic ramen and a gyoza for our appetizer. The person taking our order was patient with us as we ordered even as we were dealing with our toddler. Our requests were accommodated respectfully and to the best they could! Upon first glance, the gyoza looked good, like it was a family recipe and made from scratch! The spicy garlic ramen had thick, and a tasty looking broth and the portion sizes for the ramen looked like decent enough for the price. The taste for the gyoza was good, but the spicy black garlic ramen definitely stole the show! The broth was the perfect level of savory with a delicious blend of garlic that wasn't overpowering along with the pork broth. The chashu was incredibly tender and flavorful and the ramen was cooked perfectly - *chefs kiss*, amazing!
