Solidly good food.
Maria E.

I love Hawaiian food and of course, Filipino food, so my standards can be a bit high for this genre of food. Nevertheless, I love restaurants like this place just for existing and offering up this type of delicious food. This place is simple and an easy place to try out and enjoy Hawaiian food. I do recommend the Veggie Omelette. It has a simple, solid flavor with fresh veggies. If it's your first time, and you're a meat eater, I suggest you try the adobo rice omelette. Tasty. The Loco Moco is okay...I'm gonna be honest and say it's not the best we've had (taste, quality and portion/price) because we have our own go-to Hawaiian restaurant in South LA County that just exceeds everyone else, but c'mon, this place is good. If you're not an extremely picky eater, you're gonna enjoy it just fine. The service is okay--not exactly super friendly and welcoming, but I'm an introvert, it's not necessary for me as long as the service isn't super rude...which it isn't. Overall, it's an okay experience. Try them out for yourself.

Garlic shrimp with double order of garlic fried rice
Enrico A.

I can't believe I've been going here for over 10yrs and this is the first time I tried the garlic shrimp and it's to die for. If you like garlic and shrimp this is definitely the dish for you, it's really delicious. Below is a picture of it and I ordered it with double garlic fried rice.

Had breakfast with my girlfriend's meetup group before playing pickle ball. Lots of traditional Hawaiian offerings like Loco moco, spam musabi, and poke amongst other offerings. Food was tasty, we all cleaned our plates. Nice little restaurant. Plenty of parking in the shopping center Ordered and paid at the counter and our food was brought out to us when it was ready. Id be happy to come back and eat here again

Build Your Platter Meal Chicken Katsu & BBQ Beef

We used to come here a lot for breakfast and brunch. The food and service was good. I was in the plaza and saw them and wanted to try them out for dinner. I got the 2 item plate - with chicken Katsu and the bbq beef. My sides were white rice and the "Asian coleslaw" & got 2 spam musubi's for breakfast the next day. My order was ready really quick. Which isn't always a good thing. It tells me, that the proteins are pre-cooked and are warmed up upon ordering, thats my guess. Got home and was kinda disappointed seeing what I got. The chicken in the katsu has been pounded to the same thinness of a penny. The beef, is fatty w/ tendons and tough (likely due to the re-cook). Most of the beef was not edible. I just ate what I could and had the spam musubi. The coleslaw was bone dry and had cilantro (I don't do cilantro) so I tossed that completely in the trash. I was thinking more traditional coleslaw. There's a lot of competition for Hawaiian food in Irvine, Da Luau wont make the cut for me (as far as dinner is concerned).

Been here a couple times Wonderful food and quality + taste is amazing overall thank you

I woke up craving an adobo omelette like I had in Vegas a long time ago. Thanks to Yelp, I found a place that had exactly what I was looking for and then some. The adobo omelette was so delicious and satisfied my craving. The mac nut french toast was great too! I'll definitely be back to get more comfort food.

50/50 plate of Meat Jun, Island Style Fried Chicken and double Mac.
Lance N.

It has been a while since I've been to Da Luau, but I'll start with it would have been better if I ate there. By the time I got home, the Meat Jun was a bit soggy. Although the flavor was still good the texture was not. The island style chicken was good and the Mac as well. I also picked up a side of BBQ chicken which was nicely done. The young man behind the counter was pleasant to work with and he even brought my order out to me. So I do appreciate the service. As for ambiance I didn't stay to eat there, but it was quiet inside and not a lot of people. It seemed like a number of people were just picking up. Definitely will go back again, as it was one of the better Hawaiian grills in the area. Enjoy

Quick & easy spot to stop in and grab a loco moco, or a plate lunch during your break. Ambiance & Aesthetic: 7/10 The aesthetic is a lot of woods with natural lighting and Hawaiian themed aspects. The ambiance was quiet with lots of seating. Service: 8.5/10 staff was friendly and brought my food to me. Meat Jun: 6.5/10 the meat wasn't very flavorful, might've needed to marinate longer, but the egg on the outside was fried great and the white rice was perfect.

Came here with my BF and some friends. We decided to eat a little something before playing pickleball to give everyone a chance to meet one another. I decided to order one of my go-tos which is a Loco Moco with an over easy egg. Solid choice. It had great taste, the patty was flavorful and moist, eggs were made perfectly and the rice and brown gravy was awesome - definitely some great comfort food. Would highly recemmend and come again.

We used to get Hawaiian BBQ all the time when they opened, until two times meats were burned, wrote a review and tried one more time and still burned issues not resolved, then we stopped coming. Today, family wanted Hawaiian BBQ, thought given Da Luau a chance, hopping after all these years, it should be improved by now. It was a phone order and made a clear that please make sure no burnt on meats. We ordered two combo ( beef and chicken ) and one with chicken: * See how much we had to cut off burnt pieces ( see picture ). I know somebody likes the burnt cuz it gives a smoke favour, but if it tastes bitter, it was burnt * Beef and chicken flavoured are good, one star * Add more one star for macaroni and cheese * Beef can be little more tender It is so easy to resolve the burn issues, just clean the grill often, I suggested when I wrote my first review, but I guess the message didn't get crossed ..... Hopefully, they can fix the burn issues right away. We love Island Special " we called beef and chicken combo for this dish " and will go back once the cancer's issue is resolved.

The taste of the food was not as expected. We did take out and when we opened the food containers (plastic) it looked like they just dumped the meat on top of the rice/egg. Didn't make an effort to properly place them. One person in our party thought that the chicken was a mix of leftover and newly cooked.

Their BBQ beef bowl is terrible. Meat is very chewy. It was too dry to swallow, so I ended up throwing it away.

We tried their breakfast burrito, their avocado, toast, and their chicken club sandwich. I have to say, the potatoes were amazing! They use sourdough bread, which is my absolute favorite and you can tell that it is fresh. The avocado was delicious on the toast as well. And I truly believe that they are not really made out to be a full-service restaurant as much as I like their dedication and drive. I had a reservation at 7 pm. I checked in at 6:45 pm. At 7:25 pm, they brought us in and did not have a table ready for us. They made a table then after a table left 15 minutes later, they rearranged us. I do not understand why you offer reservations if you will not actually honor the system. Around 8 pm, we asked if we could order as they had only brought water. Listen I understand. You're closing soon. You only had 1 server for the entire restaurant the weekend of Valentines. You have to go lean on the busiest last weekend ..? I don't actually understand. When all came to, they were not offering dessert because "they were saving it for Valentine's Day". No notification about when their kitchen closed and no asks if anybody wanted to order for to-go. On top of that, everyone did not have free parking and had to pay upon exit even with validation. You will do great as a ghost kitchen since the food was good and everyone enjoyed it. If you come back as a full service, I would seriously reconsider how you do business.
