I would have to say that poke is my favorite thing to eat for lunch and it is something that can be ordered for delivery that will arrive tasting as good as it would have at the restaurant. Having moved to Miami in the past year I am in search of the perfect poke lunch. I will be posting all the stops along my journey on the yelp over the next week or so. I have tried each of these establishments at least three times now and feel comfortable evaluating their take out. I have tried to stick loosely to the same order so the comparisons remain objective. Today's choice was Poke88. I ordered a large bowl which at this establishment is three proteins. As usual, I chose tuna, salmon, and spicy tuna as my three proteins. I had it prepared on a salad base. They have a limited number of vegetable choices and only allowed choosing five which is a bit disappointing as there are three more that I would've liked to have included in my meal. I chose red cabbage, cucumber, carrots, red onions, and edamame beans, but was unable to also select sweet corn, mangoes, and carrots which to me would've made it a much more perfect meal. I added spicy mayo and eel sauce. For toppings, I picked Masago, crispy garlic, furikake, avocado, and seaweed salad. Again, there were others I would like to add like ginger, scallions, and crispy onions, but was limited to five. Wasabi was not even offered. The best part about the bowl was it the fish was very fresh. The worst part was very little of it. And there was almost no Masago. if there was crispy garlic, it had lost its crispy before arriving. The avocado was a nice portion and it was fresh and delicious. Overall, for a large bowl, this was an extremely small portion size with very little fish. The fish itself was a high-quality and tasted quite good. The spicy mayo lacked any spice at all so if I order again, I will make sure to order a higher level of spice. I did enjoy the meal but based upon the price and the portion size, I am not sure that I will order from there again. I would write this with approximately 3 1/2 stars, but that is not a choice and based upon the quality of the food I would rather round up to four stars however this establishment did not match up well with my favorite from my prior location and compared to the other local poke places, I would have to say the overall experience is only average despite the fish quality being mildly better. read more

I was in the mood for poke and found this spot close to my mom's house. The place is cute, it's a small place with a few tables. Luckily, there weren't a lot of people so we were able to eat at the place. The service was quick and great, no issues here. As for the food, my mom ended up building her own bowl and got the shrimp tempura, while I got the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. I did like the bowl, but I wasn't really loving the chicken. It wasn't fried nor was it grilled, and I've had amazing Terikayi chicken before but this was not it. I did love the flavors of the bowl and the combination of red onion, cucumber, lettuce, edamame, sweet corn and everything else that was in the bowl, but unfortunately for me this wasn't the best poke I've ever had. I'm pretty picky about Poke (and you should be too) But Poke88 is delicious and they have sushi burritos as well. With the regular bowl, you get 2 proteins and unlimited toppings! With the burrito, it's more limited than that so it fits in the wrap. Been here several times now and it's definitely quick service and it's really good. Theres some pop music in the background but it's not too loud so you can definitely dine in as they have a few seating options. The first time I walk by this restaurant, out of curiosity, I stopped to look at the menu. As I was standing there, a couple of patrons walked out, saw me looking at the menu, and they started telling me about how amazing the food was. A similar thing happened a couple of weeks later when I was walking by and I looked inside, and again someone stopped me to rave about the food. I must say, I have gone to and walked by many restaurants in my life and this has never happened to me before, that customers take time from their busy lives to talk to a random stranger about the quality of food they had just had. Now at that time, I didn't know what a poke bowl was. At some point in my busy days, this style of food was introduced to Miami and became popular without anyone sending me a memo about it. And so I walked into this tiny little place with maybe 2 or 3 tables. This is not a place to dine in, for the most part, but rather take out or delivery. Not knowing what I was ordering, I ordered one of the house specialties and watched them prepare my bowl. The process of making my bowl was very fascinating with the attention that was given to the bowl and the details of it. When I took the bowl home, I eagerly took a bite, and suddenly I was up doing the hokey pokey dance. The food was as amazing as it had been advertised, and the portion was more than satisfactory. Since then I have been there many times and tried different plates. They are all good. I know I should try other poke bowl restaurants, but it is so hard to not go the one I know I like. I ordered a salmon lover poke and a classic poke for my wife and I and we couldn't eat it because it was so spicy. We visited this location this past Sunday. Upon everything, staff was welcoming. We were directed to the bowl assembly area to pick our components as we opted to create our own bowl. We ordered a small and large bowl. The bowl assembly process was a bit frustrating as we needed to repeat ourself multiple times to get what we wanted in our bowl. However, once we got our bowls and can of boba iced matcha we were very satisfied. The food tasted fresh and toppings and sauce ratios were well balanced. Proportions and quality felt appropriate for the price. If we lived locally, we would certainly be returning and likely quite often. I was greeted at the door and the staff was helpful and was able to customize the sauce - no jalapeño for me. I added spicy Mayo to the poke classic bowl. I did a half sushi rice and half greens. When I sat down, I immediately noticed how tiny they cut the tuna. Most poke places offer bigger chunks of tuna and salmon. For 15+tax+tip I expected more protein than rice.
