    Kappa Poké Bowl
    Tibisay H.

OMG...! I was already hungry, but you know when you're hungry but not like you want to eat the whole donkey? I was THAT hungry... I saw the picture of what they call a Salmon Burger, but instead of a bun, it was rice on top and at the bottom, filled in with - as far as it looked like in the picture, Salmon Tartare, so I told to myself, "that's exactly what I want", so I went to order it. Once the Asian guy, who was very friendly and nice, understood that I just wanted one layer of rice instead of two, I saw the picture of the "Kappa Poké Bowl", and I WENT ALL IN!!! O H M Y G O D ! ! ! ! If you're a Sushi lover, and you like raw Salmon and Tuna, this is THE BEST plate you could ever try, hands down...!! The place look impecable in cleanliness, the workers are SUPER friendly, and the food qualifies, to me, as HEALTHY FOOD. YOU SHOULD COME AND TRY IT OUT!!!!

It's great to have a healthy option in your favorite mall. I'm not sure how long they've been open, but staff was a bit inattentive and disorganized. But pleasant enough. I got the chicken poke bowl which came with sushi Rice, chicken, edamame, radishes, carrots, sesame seeds, coconut flakes and ponzu sauce. I got spicy mayo on the side. My daughter got a make your own bowl. The bowls look delicious and tasted pretty good, too.

Fire Dragon Roll TORCHED right there and its nice and hot.

Salmon Tacos are one of my favorite foods and Kappa makes a really good pair for $6. Great price, fresh and tangy. The Fire Dragon Roll was cool because the dynamite sauce was torched just before they served it. I also got some home-made matcha cookies which were very tasty and had white chocolate chips in it. Inside the food court in Dadeland Mall.

    Disappointing shrimp Sushi Burger

Stopped by to try the advertised shrimp Sushi Burger since it was shown to be in stock unlike most of the items/ingredients on the menu which weren't. The worker NEVER informed me that the meal I asked for DIDN'T have all the MAIN ESSENTIAL ingredients to prepare it. I payed full price for it AND payed BEFORE she made it so I never had the opportunity to speak up. I asked her whether I could be compensated with a drink or something for the disappointing replacement of the missing ingredients (red onions replaced plantains for example...) and she refused. Leaving defeated with the lousy changes and horrible customer service (which I tipped on before hand ), I sat to eat that pathetic ball of rice. It was the most underwhelming blandest meal I've ever payed $15 for. I am extremely upset with that experience and wish others to eat elsewhere for better quality food and customer service.

This place was trash. The rice was not fresh and the quality was awful. I do not recommend at all. And they barely add any

We ended up here on NYE for a quickie bite before heading to Fairchild's Night Garden. The vibe is kitschy and fun and the menu hits the sweet spot for Japonophiles with a curated assortment of faves from takoyaki to tonkotsu and even onigiri. On this night we wanted to keep it light so we started with the Japanese pickles which were a vibrant and crisp mix of veggies. Then a miso soup with fried rolled tofu sheets and lots of fresh green onions. We can never pass up his and hers unagi nigiri, and these were perfection: warm, sweet, and buttery on the tongue. Then it was time for makimono. Sushi in Japan tends to be simpler with a focus on expertly cut fresh fish, but at Umaimon they depart from the classics to play to the American palate with ingredients like cream cheese and mango. Now these are not the most creative offerings you'll find in the 305, but they do offer solid choices done well. He had the Twin Dragon and I couldn't pass on the Sugar Daddy. Now, is this the best Japanese/sushi place you're going to find in Miami? Probably not. But is it the most kawaii? Quite possibly. If you too have fallen in love with Japan but can't afford another plane ticket, Umaimon comes in clutch delivering faves in an unassuming spot.

The ambiance is very cozy and relaxing. There are so many options on the menu, but we decided to try a few for our first visit and everything was amazing. So creative and suchi unique flavors! I'm a big sushi fan and have tried so many places everywhere I go, but this one truly stands out both unique and creative at the same time. Definitely worth checking it out, and you'll know exactly what I mean once you try it!

I will say the sushi roll itself (while not necessarily small) was not all that large/filling, so I would recommend getting something else on the side. I liked that their roll and appetizers had a fun flavor and uniqueness that I haven't seen at other places. But I will say the prices are a little expensive but I guess average for Miami area. I was surprised to find single-use chopsticks over reusable ones. A small detail in an otherwise fairly nice restaurant that did kind of stick out to me. The vibe kind of felt like a mix of a slightly more upscale restaurant, but also kind of minimalist modern if that makes sense? Additionally, our service was a bit slow, with our waiter right over our shoulder asking if we were ready to place our order, no then not being around for the rest of the meal. Maybe it was just an off night though, and the food did come out fairly quickly. Overall I did enjoy my meal here, and I would probably come back eventually when I want something slightly more upscale. But on a day-to-day I would probably go Edward for my sushi fix. Not that the food was bad by any meals. I really enjoyed the fun and different flavor combinations, it's just a little pricy to go to everyday, and in my opinion the main portion sizes don't quite reflect that or have any particular flare to them aside from a colorful/flavorful sauce or topping in them. Recommend a try if you are nearby though to see for yourself.

The quality of the fish is actually better than I remember, and because my roll was just fish and avocado, it really relied on the quality of the fish for the flavor. I really enjoyed this roll. They also were generous with the fish and avocado in the roll. I was pleasantly surprised to find 12 large pieces instead of the smaller 8 pieces like many other places in the area. Most of the exciting flavor is coming from the sauces, but again the quality of the fish is where this roll is supposed to shine. I also tried their seaweed salad. Same as the roll, the portion size is pretty good, but the seaweed itself was under seasoned. I feel it needed a little bit more vinegar flavor. Overall tho it satisfied the craving. Overall, it is good simple sushi. It's good, maybe not the most amazing sushi I've ever had but having struggled to find other sushi places around that seem worth the price, this place is up there for Miami sushi in my area. It satisfied my craving for sure.
