Pleasantly surprised by the authentic ramen with umami flavor , unlike other typical Americanized ramen spot heavy on the salt and make you thirsty afterwards , the shaved ice are refreshing and the sushi rolls use top quality ingredients like toro A must try and will return !

really lovely experience - took their time to explain the dishes. make great recommendations on what to try. the sushi was great/ items were just slightly pricier but worth the price- the sushi rolls, bento box with onigiri and karats were tasty. my favorite part was the dessert we got the mango/matcha snow- was amazing.

Very happy to have found this place during my recent visit. First, they have onigiri and Japanese shaved ice which I haven't seen in any other Japanese restaurants. We had the fried takoyaki which was light, tender, and crispy. It was not chewy or tough. We also had the onigiri (salmon and Tarako with mayo) bento box, tenmusu, and tonkotsu ramen. All were very good. I never tried Tarako before and the nice lady in the front provided a sample. The tonkotsu ramen was delicious. The broth was so rich and coated the noodles like it's supposed to. To end the meal, we had the strawberry milk shaved ice. We were already stuffed at this point but were so happy eating this delightful treat. We never had shaved ice like this before. So yummy. The service was awesome. We were waiting to order and I think the owner or manager stopped what they were doing to help us. He provided us the QR code to look at the menu online and provided recommendations. Very nice and helpful. When we were ready to order, the nice young lady was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was cozy with nice decorations. You could dine inside or outside.

JB , dense rice, almost fake like tasting, def not fresh

I ordered the most basic sushi rolls and got disappointed with the rice quality. It was dense, super sticky and just not flavorful nor tasting fresh. $9 for 8 unequal pieces of JB roll? No thank you

Most authentic Japanese sushi in the area! My favorite items are The Six, Tokyo Rush, Tarako Onigiri, and now the Umaimon Bowl! Staff is very friendly and will make sure your needs are taken care of.

Food was delicious - we got the sushi platter as well as the shaved ice, but the service definitely did NOT meet expectations. We were first served an incorrect order after waiting quite a long time for it so that was a little disappointing. Not a huge deal. There were a couple of flies hovering around us as well, which is a little gross considering we were inside. But we were seated near the trash, so maybe avoid that table. It seemed there were only two people working and prepping food at the front so it took a really long time even though there weren't that many people for a Friday night. But what irritated me the most was when we had to pay at the very end. After waiting so long for our food (we were there for like 2 hours, most of the time spent waiting), we want to leave ASAP already. But the woman at the front barely addressed us and continued prepping food. We were essentially IGNORED for at least 20 minutes. Mind you she's like 2 feet in front of us. Of course people entered to order during this time and at least 3 people left since she wasn't taking orders at the counter. It was SO ANNOYING!! They need someone to man the front at all times because that was just ridiculous and soured the experience honestly.

poke bowl was beautiful & so delicious! the owner is super sweet - loved hearing about his life in tokyo & bringing Japanese culture to miami. since it was my first time, he insisted i try the shaved ice dessert & it was surprisingly amazing - light & refreshing! they had tons of games you can play too. almost everyone in the restaurant ordered noodles & i will definitely go back to try - looked YUM!

It was meant to be! We were on our way to another Downtown Dadeland Restaurant when we spotted this place. My son loves onigiri and Umaimon did not disappoint with theirs. I had the Mami Roll and it was fresh and delicious! DO NOT leave without getting the Shaved Ice Dessert! YUM! We will be back again!

The servers are very knowlegable and let us know where to place the food and for how long on the cooktop. They do have pre cooked foods like spring rolls and fried chicken pieces, if you like that. The chicken Karaage is super good! The restaurant gets kinda loud because of all the grills cooking but that's a given. Hey foodies! This…read morereview is a little extra special to me because this place has been special to my husband and me for years... even though they have no idea! Gyu-Kaku is hands down one of our favorite restaurants. Anytime we find out we're in an area that has one, we always make it a priority to go. We've been eating here for about 14 years, and somehow it never gets old! If you've never been, it's a Japanese BBQ restaurant where you grill your own food right at your table, making it such a fun and interactive dining experience. One of the best parts? Their all-day Happy Hour on Sundays! You can choose between their all-you-can-eat menu with set pricing or order items individually. We always order à la carte because we love trying all our favorites. We started with the Fried Bacon Chips and Miso Wings, and baby... chef's kiss! For our sides, we ordered the Garlic Rice and Garlic Noodles. They are definitely shareable, and they prepare them for you. They are packed with flavor! For seafood, we went with the shrimp. Now for the meats... we ordered the New York Strip, Ribeye, Garlic Basil Chicken, and Teriyaki Chicken. Every single bite was worth it. Let's just say... I needed to be rolled out of there! And yes, I happily took leftovers home and enjoyed them again the next day. And if you enjoy a good cocktail with your meal, Gyu-Kaku definitely doesn't disappoint. Their drink menu has plenty of delicious options to pair with your BBQ. After 14 years of eating here, I can honestly say this place has never let us down. Great food, a fun atmosphere, and one of our favorite traditions whenever we're traveling. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 10/10 Experience: 10/10 If you've never tried Gyu-Kaku, add it to your list. Just make sure you come hungry... very hungry!

I will say the sushi roll itself (while not necessarily small) was not all that large/filling, so I would recommend getting something else on the side. I liked that their roll and appetizers had a fun flavor and uniqueness that I haven't seen at other places. But I will say the prices are a little expensive but I guess average for Miami area. I was surprised to find single-use chopsticks over reusable ones. A small detail in an otherwise fairly nice restaurant that did kind of stick out to me. The vibe kind of felt like a mix of a slightly more upscale restaurant, but also kind of minimalist modern if that makes sense? Additionally, our service was a bit slow, with our waiter right over our shoulder asking if we were ready to place our order, no then not being around for the rest of the meal. Maybe it was just an off night though, and the food did come out fairly quickly. Overall I did enjoy my meal here, and I would probably come back eventually when I want something slightly more upscale. But on a day-to-day I would probably go Edward for my sushi fix. Not that the food was bad by any meals. I really enjoyed the fun and different flavor combinations, it's just a little pricy to go to everyday, and in my opinion the main portion sizes don't quite reflect that or have any particular flare to them aside from a colorful/flavorful sauce or topping in them. Recommend a try if you are nearby though to see for yourself.

The quality of the fish is actually better than I remember, and because my roll was just fish and avocado, it really relied on the quality of the fish for the flavor. I really enjoyed this roll. They also were generous with the fish and avocado in the roll. I was pleasantly surprised to find 12 large pieces instead of the smaller 8 pieces like many other places in the area. Most of the exciting flavor is coming from the sauces, but again the quality of the fish is where this roll is supposed to shine. I also tried their seaweed salad. Same as the roll, the portion size is pretty good, but the seaweed itself was under seasoned. I feel it needed a little bit more vinegar flavor. Overall tho it satisfied the craving. Overall, it is good simple sushi.
