Plainly stated, this place is a waste of excellent retail space! Our regular sushi spot was closed for renovations so we decided to give this place a shot. What a waste of money and especially our time. The sushi here is barely gas station quality, the prices are super inflated and the service was slower than a sloth in a coma. Having had Pubbelly Sushi recommended by a couple of our friends, my boyfriend and I decided to try it! As it was a rainy day we ordered it for pickup and the service was great it was ready for the exact time we set up the pickup. The ambiance of the restaurant when I walked in was nice. Miami is a place of culture and people and food. You cannot go wrong on that. And, at times, you find a special place that is just off the main road but near everything else you can find. Staying a few blocks away I had to find a place to eat and walked outside. A few blocks away I walked into Pubbelly Sushi. It was totally different. A combination of Japanese and South American cuisine is an interesting combination. Of course, with the Che who has been recognized by the James Beard Foundation, it is no wonder. He truly can create what we do eat. It is an experience. And, having lived in Japan, it is always different to see what others take from it. This was special. Come before 7pm and there is a Happy Hour which is nice for cocktails, but even better for food combinations you can have in replace f a full meal. You can try a bit for everything to see what is new and different and a perfect compliment. There would be a piece of Tuna Sushi but it is topped on a friend piece of Japanese rice. It sounds different but the taste is special. This alone would have been a great meal. So we tried that. We also had a bun which is typical in Japan, but in this case it was filled with a slice of Pork Belly that was grilled just fine and placed inside with sauce and spice. The bun itself was nice, but filled it was better. Again, this could have been a meal. Naturally had to have to skewers with chicken and pork. A nice compliment. Also had to have a bowl of what we consider Poke Bowl. This time it was fried rice with spice and mixed with vegetables, pork belly and even peas. There was even a fried egg on top. Very typical in Japan. That was a true different flavorful. Overall the meal is exciting to have. The staff is great. The bartender does know how to make a good cocktail. As for the Chef and the team, our compliments. It was a great place to stop and experience. It was a unique combination of two cultures that created something we all can accept. Ok so this is probably my favorite spot in Miami for Sushi. Everything on the menu is fresh and delicious and everyone I have recommended it to has thanked me. They also have some nice cocktails and a Happy Hour menu. I would highly recommend you try Pubbelly Sushi. We were in for dinner on Sunday night and ordered two appetizers - the Edamame and the Tuna Tartare which comes with seaweed chips - super fresh and yummy. I have been wanting to try their wings which I heard were really good so I ordered the Korean Wings. Cooked perfectly (crispy) and very tasty! My wife had the Tempura Roll which she has been wanting to try (she always gets the Butter Crab Roll). She really liked it but admitted the former is her favorite Roll of any sushi place so she'll get that again next time. My son raved about the Sake Aburi. He loved it. And my young daughter always gets the Kids' California (Roll) Box which she loves. We had Cocktails: Tokyo Mule (nice!), Prosecco and my son had a Kirin Ichiban (Japanese Beer). The dessert menu is a bit limited *but* we shared one of the best desserts I've had. GET THE MISO BREAD PUDDING! This spot has the best buttered crab roll I've ever had. Each piece is chunky!! It comes with the butter sauce on the side, you dip each roll into the butter and my goodness it just melts in your mouth. I come here at least once a month to enjoy this perfection of a roll. The service is always great. The food comes out extremely fast imo. They also have a great happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The coconut lychee martini is my absolute favorite. If you haven't had Pubbelly, I suggest you check them out. Extremely disappointed and honestly disgusted with our experience here. My girlfriend and I came in for dinner, and by the next day we were both violently ill -- vomiting and diarrhea for hours. What makes this even worse is that we didn't order the same thing: I had the pork gyozas, she had sushi. Two different dishes, same result. That's not a coincidence, that's a food safety problem. For a restaurant charging what they do, there is no excuse for this. We trusted this place with a nice dinner out and ended up sick for an entire day. I ordered takeout from Pubbelly Sushi for a friend of mine, and honestly, it reminded me why this place never misses. She always craves the Big Eye Tuna Roll, and for good reason the combination of the tuna on top and that crispy rice just hits every time. The textures alone make it worth ordering again and again. I also ordered the Korean chicken wings, and wow those were amazing. The flavor was perfectly balanced enough seasoning and sauce to be super satisfying without feeling overly heavy. It had a nice kick to it too, just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting and leave you feeling satisfied, not stuffed. For myself, I went with the Dragon Roll, which is my all-time favorite here and always consistent. The only thing I wish I had done differently was adding extra spicy mayo (or that special mayo) to the Big Eye Tuna Roll it would've taken it to the next level. I finally got to try Pubbelly Sushi Dadeland after having had this restaurant bookmarked for a long time. The vibe is very nice. I went on a Sunday for a quick, casual dinner but can see how this would be super fun on a Friday or Saturday night. The service was great: everyone from our waitress to the busser and barman were very kind. We ordered a few different things. I love the options they have for kids which are different from your typical Mac n Cheese kids menu. I ordered the steak box for my son which came with a steak skewer, berries, and I picked tater tots as a side. We tried out a few different things: butter crab roll, short rib dumplings, Korean wings, and the spicy tuna on sticky rice. It was yummy but I was let down a little bit by the butter crab roll. Another great year for Pubbelly Miami Spice! My only compliant is that they don't offer it on weekends! I love that they have a vegetarian Miami Spice menu, and they were accommodating for allergies on the regular Miami Spice non-veg menu as well. Both are tasting menus, and we felt like it was plenty of food. The Nori Butter Edamame is always great, and I love the crispy rice avocado as well. The shishito peppers is not something I'd normally go for, but they were so good - sweet and not spicy with amazing miso sauce. I would order it again. I really liked the veggie roll, which is different than veggie rolls in most places. The shitake bao bun was alright, but I wouldn't order it again. The hazelnut mochi was tasty, but the caramel mason jar was delicious! I would definitely be getting some of these items again instead of my regular go-tos at Pubbelly! We sat on their outside patio which was nice, but the ambience inside the restaurant is trendy as well. My party had some questions about various menu items and our server was more than happy to explain everything. My favorite app was the grilled octopus. The legs are cut into small pieces which are extremely tender and almost melt in your mouth. On the roll end, I enjoyed the DJ roll which was topped with a generous amount of masago.
