The food is good, the service is really friendly. The poke bowl portions are on the smaller side. I left still hungry.

Very dirty unfortunately. Bathroom was disgusting and had pink mold growing where it clearly hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The front area was very unhygienic too. And flies everywhere, really gross. There was only one person in the front too busy making online orders to look at us, or acknowledge us in any way

Veggie Poke Bowl

Food was good. Very friendly staff. Food quantity is less when compared to their prices. If you are not very hungry, then it might fill you up. I had ordered a veggie poke bowl. I wish they didn't use plastic as much, then they would have got a 5 stars from me. This is Long Beach, one of the eco-friendly and sustainable places, yet this place doesn't care much about the plastic pollution. :(

How have I not reviewed this place yet?!? It has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now, especially after Poke Cat closed :( That was actually how I happened upon this place and it was obsession at first bite. I've tried their poke bowls and some of their hand rolls: the unagi, spam and philly rolls in particular. The unagi and spam rolls are delicious! I have yet to try one of their sushi burritos, but I'm more of a show-off-the-chopstick-skills kinda gal. Onto the bowls: I normally get the 50/50 base with either rice and greens or rice and soba noodles. For the proteins I like two scoops of tuna and one of shrimp, but sometimes I'll sub one of the tuna for albacore or salmon. I love almost all the toppings available and ALWAYS get an extra scoop of the crab salad because it's so good. I love all the fresh ingredients and basically get them all along with the furikake and fried onions from the crunchy list. I finish off with their house sauce and a drizzle of the yuzu for a bright citrusy finish. I've never had an issue with the quality of their fish, and have never gotten sick from it. And usually I get my order through Uber Eats. No complaints here! I type this as my stomach rumbles, not-so-patiently awaiting for my order to arrive. Ok, time to eat! Pictures coming soon!

My coworkers and I stopped here for lunch yesterday during our lunch walks. I work close by in this area for 15 years and have seen so many different restaurants turn-over. I used to love Poke Bar further down but that would require driving and so we opted here. One of my coworkers been here before and liked it so the rest of us decided to try it too. This place is more pricey than other Poke places I've been too. All poke bowl starts at $17.99 and for the one size for all, it seems like a medium because it's smaller with only 3 scoop. The salmon quality here is good though, I got 2 salmon and 1 shrimp. Extra for avocado here. Service was great, the two ladies were so friendly! One of us got the salmon hand rolls and the other baked salmon and shrimp tempura. Overall the quality here is great. They also have a pretty fun selection of beers and ciders. But it's pricey. My small/medium, which is a regular bowl here, is $17.99 with taxes and tips it's about $22. I finished my lunch wanting more because it wasn't enough but I guess it's good for my diet...

Such a cute place. I seen great customer service. The food is clean. Parking isn't bad. Perfect location downtown Long Beach. I love spicy poke nachos.

Random poke place I found on the street. It's hard to judge poke, but the portions are generous and there is nothing fishy about the poke and there are a good amount of toppings. It's a decent place to go to. I would recommend it.

Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll

I stopped in and got the Shrimp Tempura hand roll and the Spicy Tuna hand roll, and I absolutely loved the Spicy Tuna roll so much! It had such good flavor and when I added the soy sauce, it was definitely on and popping! Yummy, I can't wait to try some other menu items.

Is this place vegan-friendly? I do see that they have tofu as a protein option. Now I'm wondering if all the toppings and sauces are also vegan-friendly besides the ones that are obviously not like the crabmeat, masago and spicy mayo.

They have many vegan options. I like seafood so it's great for basic sushi needs. The owner is always there too.

I went in and was greeted by a nice woman and glanced over the menu and saw it was pretty clear and direct. I ordered the regular size bowl with 3 proteins I did spicy tuna, Aji and yellowtail and then you can add as many toppings if you want, which was my favorite part of the whole experience! The sauces were also good. I think I opted for one of the basic ones and then I also ordered a bowl of miso soup. The whole transaction was pretty quick and everyone there was pleasant and nice and the price wasn't too high either. I got the food to go and ate it when I got home. The only thing I wasn't 100% into was the spicy tuna. It was like the spicy tuna you'd find in a spicy tuna roll and I was expecting ahi tuna with spicy mayo, so that was just a learning experience. The miso soup was ok, and overall I will definitely go back to this spot again. One request: I wish they had mango as a topping, but overall very enjoyable!

However, given that I no longer live in OC, I've made it my mission to try different poké spots in Long Beach, and so far, I haven't been impressed. Poké Bar missed the mark for me. The place is clean but seating can be kind of awkward, especially the tables along the wall. Customer service was almost nonexistent. The kid greeted us with a quiet "hi" and had airpods in the entire time. At minimum, I appreciated the fact that it was actually a build-your-own bowl. You take a slip of paper, check off boxes of whatever items you want, and leave it on the counter for them to prepare. I also appreciate that they don't charge extra for certain toppings, just the avocado. Portions are decent for the price, but taste was meh. My favorite toppings and sides include imitation crab, pineapple, masago, edamame, avocado, furukake, and crispy onions. They had a good majority of these ingredients, but it just didn't taste good. The imitation crab could've been mixed with mayo or something else that would've made it stand out more. We had a choice between seaweed salad and I think a cucumber salad. This was on me, but I should've went with the cucumber salad. I don't like how slimy the seaweed salad is and never get it with my poké. I mainly enjoyed the ahi tuna because it was fresh. I think if they added more of the sauces (think I chose their house sauce and wasabi mayo), it would've been more palatable. I'd consider trying them again if I happen to be in the area and am desperate for a bowl.

There were only 3 workers working during lunch rush hour and some of them seemed a little frazzled (imo). But when it was our turn to order, the servers were really helpful. However when it got to my toppings, he gave very little. But I was satisfied with the amount of protein he gave, because some places can be very stingy about how much they give you. I like how they have a set plate such as the Hawaiian bbq chicken and salmon bowl. They also have premade proteins such as the sweet glazed salmon or the tuna luau. They have a variety of choices. The ambiance of this location is nice. There are lots of tables and seats for you to sit and enjoy your meal. My husband and I got ours to go. When we got home, there was too much base for me. You wouldn't expect this nonchalant little shop on the westside of Long Beach to have some authentic poke and Hawaiian food but you have to try this place if you haven't! Don't come expecting the type of Poke bowl where you choose a fish and they mix it with sauce and toppings--this is is that authentic poke where the fish sits and marinates in a flavorful sauce, then served on its own with rice. But, this is as authentic as it gets compared to what you can get in Hawaii! The prices are pretty good especially considering how much fish you get in a serving and how much prices have gone up with everything lately. Parking is never a problem as this plaza doesn't get too busy. The couple inside are super nice, like visiting your grandparents! Great service. The food should come out pretty quickly if you're getting poke since they just have to scoop it up with some rice. There's a bunch of different flavors but don't be fooled, even if they don't have it in the fridge in front of the sign on the display, they still have some more in the back--just ask. Limu is definitely one of my fav flavors to get when I'm here--simple but delicious and savory. Their spam musubi is really good as well, the rice is super flavorful and has a sauce dispersed throughout. This is a perfect example of a mom and pop shop that sticks around throughout the years without anything fancy-- great food, great prices, and great service. The Cali Hawaiian had krab in it, which was a little unusual but not unwelcome. Definitely ask the employees for recommendations. Free parking in the lot. I would happily return.

Honu Poke & Grill -- Lomita, CA…read more 1824 Lomita Blvd, Lomita, CA Honu Poke & Grill is a small, cozy Hawaiian-style restaurant located in a shopping plaza near the intersection of Western Ave. and Lomita Blvd. PARKING & LOCATION One thing to be mindful of is that the parking lot is currently undergoing renovations. From the looks of it, they may be installing a Tesla charging station in the center of the plaza. Some areas are fenced off, so parking and navigating the lot may be a little inconvenient until construction is completed. ATMOSPHERE & SEATING The restaurant has a small, Hawaiian-inspired interior with tropical decorations. Seating is limited to four tables accommodating four people each and two additional tables seating two people each. There is a self-service water station, but no soda fountain. Also, there are no restrooms available for customers. My biggest complaint about the dining experience was the indoor temperature. I visited during this October heatwave, and even before noon, the restaurant was already uncomfortably warm. With all the fluorescent lighting turned on and the refrigerated poke display cases potentially contributing additional heat, it felt like the temperature continued rising. I'm not exaggerating when I say I was actually sweating while sitting there eating my lunch! Better air conditioning or ventilation would definitely make the dine-in experience much more enjoyable, especially during warmer days. MENU & PRICING They offer a good selection of Hawaiian-style poke, including Hawaiian Shoyu, Hawaiian Limu, California Hawaiian, Spicy Mayo, Spicy Garlic, Salmon Shoyu, Salmon Limu, Salmon Sweet Spicy, Spicy Garlic Salmon, and Salmon Spicy Mayo. Poke bowls range approximately from $14.45 to $15.95, while poke plates range from $15.45 to $16.45. For this visit, I ordered: * Combo Poke Plate -- Hawaiian Shoyu & Hawaiian Limu * Loco Moco -- $15.95 * Hawaiian Sun POG COMBO POKE PLATE -- HAWAIIAN SHOYU & HAWAIIAN LIMU Both selections tasted fresh, which is definitely something I appreciate when eating poke. The Hawaiian Shoyu had a nice flavor, and the Hawaiian Limu was equally fresh-tasting. The plate came with two scoops of white rice topped with furikake seasoning. Overall, I enjoyed both poke selections, and they were a highlight of my meal. LOCO MOCO -- $15.95 Something worth mentioning is that the Loco Moco is made to order, and I was informed there would be approximately a 20-minute wait. So if you're in a hurry, keep that in mind. The Loco Moco comes with two scoops of rice, sunny-side-up eggs, hamburger patties, and a generous amount of brown gravy. The hamburger patties were smaller, almost like mini slider-sized patties. What I appreciated was that they tasted handmade and nicely seasoned rather than like the typical frozen, pre-made patties. The patties were practically swimming in gravy! Now, the gravy itself had good flavor, but the consistency was definitely on the watery side. I'm talking almost soup-like consistency. If you scooped some up with a spoon and tilted it, the gravy would immediately run right off. Personally, I prefer my Loco Moco gravy to be a little thicker, with enough consistency to coat the hamburger patties and rice rather than just pooling around everything. That being said, the flavor was there, so it wasn't necessarily a bad gravy, just not my preferred consistency. The rice was good, and so were the sunny-side-up eggs. However, the eggs were cooked a little longer than I personally prefer. The yolks were approximately half solid and half runny. When I order sunny-side-up eggs, I like the yolks nice and runny so I can break them and mix everything together with the rice, hamburger patties, and gravy. Still enjoyable, but a slightly runnier yolk would have made it better for me. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Honu Poke & Grill offers a nice variety of Hawaiian-style poke along with other local favorites such as Loco Moco. The Hawaiian Shoyu and Hawaiian Limu poke tasted fresh, and I appreciated the homemade taste and seasoning of the Loco Moco patties. The gravy had good flavor despite being thinner than I prefer, and the eggs were just slightly overcooked for my liking. My biggest issue wasn't necessarily the food but the dining environment. Sitting inside a restaurant sweating while trying to enjoy lunch isn't exactly a comfortable experience. The lack of a customer restroom is another inconvenience worth mentioning. Would I come back? I would consider returning for the poke, but on another hot day, I'd probably opt for takeout rather than dining inside. Good food overall, with some room for improvement, especially when it comes to indoor comfort.
