Recently I came back and they hiked up all their prices (at least change your sign so we can't see it's more expensive) they also stopped using good containers that kept the food fresh. Now they use cheap ass cardboard boxes like it's Chinese food. $20 for a large portion and now I get this pos box? My food tasted bad by the time I got home. Sorry poke dot you lost a customer. This is a one and done for me. The fish was not good quality. I had the salmon and the albacore, and both were stringy and not sushi grade fish. A few pieces of the salmon were actually tough, which I've never experienced. I had to keep spitting fish into a napkin. I couldn't finish my bowl, because I was too grossed out by the fish. The veggies seemed fresh, but it ended there. Of the five employees I faced as they built my bowl assembly line style, not a single person was smiling. Definitely got the vibe that they do not like their jobs or care to be there. read more

This shop is located in a shopping center near the airport. The center has a bunch of food options, so it was absolutely packed when we came here for a Friday lunch. They have two bowl size options: regular for 9.45 and large for 11.75. The regular bowl is bigger than regular sized bowls at other poke shops. You get to choose 3 scoops of protein and they are actually good sized scoops. The tuna and salmon pieces were big and tasted fresh, probably the freshest fish I have had at poke place. For your bowl, you choose toppings and sauces like most places. The difference maker is that avocado does not cost extra. I have never been to poke shop that didn't charge for avocado. That is amazing and they will have my business as long as they don't change that. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the parking situation and line at lunch time was challenging. Usually my go-to whenever I'm in this plaza. One of my favorite poke places because of how much they give you. I get a regular bowl and have never finished the entire thing within one sitting...yay for leftovers! The parking area is pretty big, so there shouldn't be a problem with parking unless you come during a busy time of the day. There's also tons of other food options within the same plaza if your party wants other options. You should plan to get here before the lunch rush (I.e., 11:00-11:30am) because you will be waiting outside the door if you don't. Located in the plaza right across the street from the business plaza, so tons of people come to this area for lunch. Limited seating inside, especially if there's already a line out the door because it can feel very crowded. There's more seating out, but again - gotta beat the lunch rush if you have a big group of people. Even though the line goes out the door, it moves pretty fast. For a little over $10 (after tax), you get 3 scoops of fish and all the possible toppings (including avocado). The most recent time I went, a worker had accidentally added a protein that the customer did not ask for...it was pretty busy and loud so it was an easy mistake. The worker ended up throwing the entire bowl of food away in front of everyone in line. As a customer, I understand that the worker had to start all over, but throwing all that food away was so wasteful and especially in front of a huge line of customers. read more

I am still addicted to poke. It's been a few years since the phenomenon began and I'm still searching for great spots. Poke Dot serves up great DIY poke. Evidence to that is the lunch line - it's the craziest I've ever seen. Yes, it is akin to waiting in line for a Disneyland ride. I waited almost 25 minutes before I got to the beginning of the assembly, so to make the most of my time, I ordered not just a regular poke bowl, but decided to try the poke wrap, too. Right when I got to the cashier, I also impulsively bought a spam musubi - definitely recommend these morsels! The bowl and wrap had the same ingredients: regular size, rice, double salmon and single spicy tuna, I topped it with everything they had to offer and chose medium house spice and spicy mayo. All the proteins and veggies were fresh. Avocado and crab is INCLUDED, which I'm happy for because I'm seeing more and more poke places starting to charge those as extra (bummer). I regret adding the seaweed salad though... The sesame oil and sweetness were so heavy, it seeped into the rest of the poke, so next time, not including that. Other than that, I made a pretty delicious spicy poke concoction! However, my main gripe is the wrap. I wondered why there were no photos of them on their Yelp page, but I decided to try it anyway. Mistake. The wrap is soypaper - I usually prefer nori since it has a bit more structural integrity. And as I surmised, the wrap was a messy disaster. The amount of poke they tried to fit into the soypaper was too much and the entire wrap fell apart when I tried to pick it up. It's the worst feeling when you're about to bite into your food and suddenly, you see your life just fall apart, and poke is collecting in a pile at your feet *crying face. On top of that, the poke was mushed and mixed together beyond recognition - I was expecting to see the layers of ingredients rather than seeing a homogeneous mixture that was not very aesthetic... I will come again, at least half an hour before lunch rush and will be avoiding the wraps forever. They have great thing going, but is it worth that wait? I'm not so sure when other poke spots are just as good and have a shorter line. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this poke spot! 3 scoops comes with a regular sized bowl, the rise was freah as well as the salad. You can add avocado with no extra cost. The house sauce was very tasty, plus I added spicy mayo for good measure- which was delicious. They don't add 13 tablespoons of crunchy garlic or onions like other places- just a normal amount. Overall, best poke I have had in OC since moving out here a year ago. Ride your bike and make a quick stop for takeout and enjoy on the huge patio with great social distancing seating. This is a good poke place down the street from my job, so I come here for lunch sometimes. Get here early or you'll be stuck waiting a long time in line... The prices are a little high--I've dropped 30 on two large bowls before, pretty easily. They don't charge extra for extra crab, so might as well get that to alleviate the feeling of overpaying. They do charge extra for masago though, which is a bummer. I usually get 2 tuna, 2 salmon, 1 albacore over salad. Double avocado, double crab, seaweed salad, masago, edamame, Wasabi, and other various toppings depending on my mood. For sauces I do recommend half ponzu half house mild or half cilantro half house mild for more tanginess. The quality isn't bad. The ingredients are pretty fresh and the fish is good. Again, just remember to get there early. The lunch rush is real. 4.2/5. Is this the best of the best? No. Is it great? Yes. read more

Today, there was no salad or avocado available. For $19 for a large plate, you would assume they'd have their advertised ingredients. The fish is no longer fresh, like it used to be. Even if you let the employees know, they don't care. Also the boxes they use are impossible to eat out of. Why not use bowls with lids like everyone else? What a shame. This was my first experience at this establishment after hearing such rave reviews. And I have to say, it did not disappoint! The fish is 10000% fresh & the toppings are bountiful. The food is just down right delicious & I have absolutely no complaints about it! I have been to many Poke places across California and this one ranks as probably the best I have ever been to! My cousin took me here as she works close by and she swore it was the best poke ever--- she wasn't lying! The poke here is FANTASTIC and is probably the freshest I have ever had. Before I get into more details, let's just break down the location and service here. This poke place is located in a VERY busy shopping center off MacArthur and is usually packed to the brim during lunch time. They even have rails outside and special designated spots since the demand is crazy here. It's mostly office workers that come here as they are on their lunch break, so they know that have to meet the demands of their clientele. The service is usually great here and the lines move fast. Just be prepared to wait if you come here for lunch! Anyway, I will continue by saying that the food here is fantastic. The spicy tuna and salmon are usually my favorite proteins to add for a poke bowl and the ones here are amazing! I also add brown rice to my bowl and mixed greens along with typical veggies and toppings that go on a poke bowl. Their sauces here are also fantastic including their spicy mayo! So good! The portions here are big and while the bowl doesn't look too big, by the time you're halfway through, you don't realize how big the portion was! You could easily get by with just "two scoops" of protein instead of the bigger portion, unless you're super hungry! I will end this review by stating that the poke here at Poke Dot is outstanding and definitely the best I have ever been to in California at a fast casual restaurant. While I am sure there are better places, for the price, you really can't beat this place! It's fantastic and moderately priced! Just be forewarned that it gets crazy packed here during lunch time and expect to wait! The demand is crazy and parking can be an issue here as well! Ok this is officially my second favorite poke spot based on taste/freshness! I came at lunch time, and it was really crowded, since it's located near a lot of office buildings. The line was the longest I've ever waited for poke, but it went by quick-they even have fences outside for the line-it gets that long I guess! It's pretty much your standard poke place, but they have wraps, chips as a base option, and dessert. Also, avocado is NOT extra which is always a plus! A 3-scoop bowl is around $10, but their scoops are generous, so the portion is worth the price. I especially liked the shrimp (it's fresh and "meatier") and the tofu (they cut it in front of you, so it's not all crumbly). I had one bad piece of salmon in my bowl that I had to spit out because I couldn't chew it, but it was fresh and melted in my mouth. My bowl was the perfect, healthy lunch; the only thing I didn't like was that the sauce all seeped to the bottom, so my last bites were over-powerful. I recommend the cilantro sauce-I was a little weirded out because it was brown, probably because it had soy sauce or something-I thought it was going to be a creamier base. Their service is very organized and quick-one person per "station/step". This is my favorite Poke place! I've tried quite a few and i keep coming back to this place. The fish is always fresh and not smelly, they have great toppings one of them being my favorite hot Cheetos crumbs. The service is quick and they're always very kind. The inside is clean and plenty of space to sit but I usually opt for dining al fresco when I'm not bringing food home. I always forget to take a picture of my bowl before I dig into it. Update: Poke Dot has removed the extra costs for "premium" toppings and instead raised the prices for their poke bowls. This is my favorite poke place in the Irvine area, which is great since it is about a 5 minute drive from my office. However, I deducted two stars due to the consistently rude employees who work here. I came around 3:00 pm today to get a poke bowl and two workers came out. They both had terrible attitudes and visibly appear to hate their jobs. They rushed me through the line even though I was the only person there. I've been to Poke Dot at their peak lunch hours and had more time to view the options than today. When I got home to eat my poke, the rice had already became cold and formed into large hard chunks of rice. Also, if you now ask for extra toppings that are now labeled as "premiums" such as the seaweed, then it is an extra $0.50. Hopefully, management can train their employees to have better attitudes when serving their customers. read more
