Parking: can be super difficult during the weekday lunch hour. It's a very popular lunch spot for businesses within the area. You'll find a spot within 5 minutes. EV drivers: They have 4 EV spots: 3 level 2 chargers, and 1 super charger!!! This is a huge convenience!! The line goes by so fast, despite the volume of people in the restaurant. Staff are very quick, efficient and polite. The options are great. So many toppings to choose from! Typical meat options. I've noticed they added chips as an option for the base which I have yet to try. All meats and toppings are fresh. The bowls are priced very well. So worth it. Food is good here, however, the 1 Star is for the service I received today from one particular employee. I gave her at least couple chances thinking it may be an off day or busy other times, but today was not busy at all and she kept rushing me through the line and just saying "what else, what else." The older lady behind me was a new customer and was taking a little time to figure out what to order. I don't think it's right to rush people through especially if they're paying money to have the food right! She's a Hispanic little girl with sharp long nose. A wonderful concept, made to order poke bowls! I'm not a local, but I made a point to seek out a poke bowl joint while I was on holiday in Orange County. I saw the pics on yelp and said yeah let's do it! Arrived to the crowded strip mall plaza just prior to lunch at 11:30am, and there was already a considerable queue of 15 folks. It allowed me to take in the toppings and the best way of feeding my hungry family. The concept is like how Chipotle serves up their fixings. We opted for the large bowl with white rice. The choices for the protein were plenty. I loved how you have have salmon and scallop instead of just tuna. Seaweed salad, freshly marinated at request, ponzu fish of your choice. Sesame seeds, edamame...shoot everything you could imagine they had..including a mysteriously colored sprinkling of red stuff. I just pointed and it was spooned in. At the register I finally asked..what's that red stuff (it's flamin' hot Cheetos!!). Awesome, I'm a fan! So not many 1 and 3 year olds are fond of sushi. I figured that my one year old wanted to eat the edamame and rice, but apparently between the two of them finished a bowl all to themselves (fish and all). All without the constant reminder to eat the food on their own. We had to jump back into queue (now 25 folks long at peak lunch time). I don't think many folks eat in the dining room area as there always seemed to be seats, folks kept walking in and doing takeaway . They do have a patio as well. I would definitely make it a point to come back when I'm even within an hrs drive. This is my standard for poke bowls. Totally satisfying in value, quantity, quality. My favorite Poke place! Now they have 3 bowl sizes! The small comes with 2 fish scoops, regular with 3 scoops and large with 5 scoops. I usually get the regular, but I'm always too stuffed to finish it so I'm very happy that there's a smaller bowl option. If you don't eat raw fish like I do, there's cooked shrimp! For toppings, there's a wide range of selection from crab, avocado, jalapeños, fried garlic, fried onions, seaweed salad, and more. I usually go to this place when I go to my office because it's within walking distance. I fell I love with the food once I tried it. Now I think the original owners must have sold it because there is an entirely different staff and now it's not the same. The first thing I noticed was that the food items in the trays were about a quarter full or almost empty and this was at 11am. Wasn't that way before. It always looked plentiful and fresh. Also they skimped on most items like the edamame. The woman made sure I only got three little beans...no joke. They use to pack your dish but not with this new owner. I've been coming here for about 2 years now. It's located near John Wayne Airport. It's in a shopping center on the corner of Main and MacArthur. During lunch hour it's very busy in the shopping center and parking can be difficult. I usually go early or after 1 p.m. to avoid the traffic. It seems that no matter what time I go to Poke Dot there is always a line. It moves fast so don't let the line hold you up. They have the usual poke items. I think what sets them apart from the other Poke places in the area is that their portions are larger and the fish is a higher grade than the other ones in the area. It's not sushi grade fish, but definitely not low-grade fish either. Again, I come here maybe once or twice a month and I'm never disappointed. It's a good value and the fish is good. They have three different bowl sizes to choose from: small (2 scoops), medium (3 scoops), and large (5 scoops), at reasonable prices. We both decided on the medium size bowl. They have a variation of fish and also tofu (as a vegetarian option) with a wide selection of toppings, including hot Cheeto crumbs. Our bowls were full of flavor and I asked the staff to make mine on the spicier side, which she did. The portion was just perfect. I've been working a lot in Irvine for the fam biz for the past 2.5 years and I patron Poke Dot more times than I should really mention... But I love that if I have time, I can swing by here in the morning, walk in, order, and walk back to my office within 4 minutes. Their prices have increased over the last year as well as their portion options (small, regular, large, vegetarian, wrap) and I don't know if it's my appetite little-ing down or it's their portions but a small or regular size is pretty filling. I don't order everything, basically all the herbs and onions and avocado in the beginning; albacore and salmon; the spiciest thing they can order; a huge heaping of wasabi and ginger, and that pretty much consumes my order. The fish is very fresh and clean and I've never gotten sick here, which is a blessing because I usually come here before MY business opens. I wish they had the musubi option around more often because it's a great reminder that white rice and spam really are an amazing combination. :) I've had other poke options around before and I'm not a very discerning palate but their options are pretty small in portions with a just as high price tag. I kind of wish they had their beer license because a Japanese beer with fish, even poke, is just as good.
