We used PODS to pack up our "stuff" and then used Merit Movers to move the furniture. We moved from San Bernardino to South Orange County. We were quoted correctly for the service. I would not say it was less expensive to pack our stuff ourselves and place it into the PODS. But it was more convenient and less stressful. We were able to take our time to sort and purge and then place the boxes into the POD to make room for more sorting and purging. Don from the Riverside office is the best. He was able to explain about moving between marketplaces as PODS is nationwide but handled locally via marketplaces and local offices. TIP: Book online, but then talk to the local office. If you are moving between marketplaces, you need to understand how it works and know that the billing will look a little crazy. But I went back through all the invoices and credits and I was billed as quoted. This was our second time using PODS. We just completed a move from Southern California to Northern Virginia.... would never use PODS again. If things had gone well, our storage/move order, spanning 4/15/16 to 10/31/16, should have included only 10 charges: drop off empty container in CA (pick-up is free), transportation CA-to-VA, final delivery in VA (pick-up is free), plus 7 months of container rental. But what actually happened... ### THE GOOD ### 1. Flexible moving, as advertised. We didn't have an exact moving date, and we ended up with a 6 month delay anyway, but PODS let us keep the container on our driveway as long as we needed (monthly rental charge, of course), send it across the country when we were actually ready, and hang on to it on the other side until we had the freight elevator reserved. It was awesome! 2. We provided our own lock and had the only access to the contents. No worries about things being stolen. 3. Plenty of room inside (16ft container). 4. Leak-proof plastic top. 5. Not a single item broken. 6. They have a really cool PODZILLA contraption that can get the POD into tighter spaces than most companies can. ### THE BAD ### 1. Billing issues, unauthorized charges, etc.: - Despite me telling them otherwise, PODS tried to deliver the empty POD on 3/20/16 and charged us for our first month starting on that date. When they finally refunded the invoice, the refund didn't match the original charge. - After we had the container for a month and realized our moving date had been delayed for months, I asked PODS if they could suspend the contents insurance since the container was empty anyway and there was nothing to insure. They said no problem. But later, they refused to add the insurance back. So our stuff went across the country without any insurance and with only a verbal promise from a rep that nothing would get broken. Yeah, and if they could predict the future like that, then why ever provide insurance? - Six months into our order, we got notified that their was another 16ft container enroute to our house. I called them up to demand an explanation. "Didn't you request another container?" No! Turns out they had charged us for some other customer's order. Too late... the $3,500 had been billed and then had to be refunded later. - During that mix-up, we also got charged a $333 for some transit that didn't make any sense. When I called them on that, they said the had irreversibly messed up our order, and that the whole order had to be re-done. This resulted on us being on a new cycle (15th of each month instead of the last day of the month) and a pro-rated bill. When they did finally refund the $333, they refunded the wrong tax amount so (again!) none of the numbers lined up. - On the day of the final delivery in Virginia, they billed us for another whole month of rental... which (again!) had to be refunded. - Now, we're done and the container has been shipped back, yet their computers still show we have it and continue to bill us each month. Yesterday, an automated email told me my account is over-due. - In total... 7 individual times we received in invoice for services we did not request, or for services that belonged on some other customer's account. Seven times! They had almost as many unauthorized charges as authorized ones! 2. Computer issues: - During 60% of the conversations I had with them, the rep encountered some mysterious error they couldn't explain. - One time, they kept me on hold for 20+ minutes while they troubleshooted the issue on their end and restarted the whole computer. They refused to just take down my phone number and call me back when it was working. Ultimately, the transaction never went through and I had to call them back a second time on a different day to get it resolved. - Now they are in the middle of switching over to a new computer system, and a new website. But the old and new systems are running concurrently, apparently using different databases, since the actual information shown conflicts with each other. - During most of the time we had the container, their records showed it was still at the warehouse, leading to a lot of confusion with their service reps. read more

Beware of using PODS. This company charged $86 to drop off container to Redlands, on 2/28/2019 plus a month of storage $179. I did the reservation online and no option to know that storage fee is non refundable nor retroactive. There's no disclosure of pick up fees and moving fees to another location. I only need the container until March 9 to unload in Beaumont distance of about 22 miles. Moving the container from Redlands to Beaumont is $123 and final pick up is $130 to go back to their location!!! I got a call from their customer service collecting another credit card saying if I don't pay by 3pm Eastern Time she will remove the scheduled pick up, expressing my concerns about the bill, the rep was rude, then when I chatted online the rep can't understand my issues. Uhaul is a better option, with PODS you have to load and unload yourself same as UHAUL but with UHAUL you can control the date and time and you can drive it right away. I will not use PODS nor recommend this company. They are a rip off. So I called the 877 number for PODS and they said the max they will credit is $25. The worst place you can get a container from . I signed up for them before learning about container alliance . They have been charging me 500-700 a month for a 12 foot and 16 foot container .I asked them to move my pod to another location they put in the wrong address took the pod to the wrong storage please which I now have to pay an additional 1k to have it moved to a location near me and than to my location. I will have to pay continued fees until they do this .. They have my property and are telling me that I don't have to have them move it however It's in a location over 100 miles form me and the other option to to indefinitely have it stored with them or pay someone to go get it ..This is extortion . I am extremely disappointed in this service. I have been paying $171 every month, for several months, to store the POD at my house. When I am ready to have it moved to our new home, I'm told it can't happen for a couple weeks or more because it's not in their franchise area. I'm moving one county over, not a state. This would mean I would have to pay for another month, which I'm sure was on purpose. It doesn't help I'm 6 months pregnant and have to hear "Call back tomorrow between 8-5 eastern time to talk to billing but it could be difficult since Los Angeles is taking over the account and they are 3 hours behind". Also, I called yesterday and was told there was a problem in their computer and given an IT incident number. Their rep told me they would call in 24 hours.... no call was made to me so I called again today. I spoke to a supervisor but he couldn't do anything and suggested I call for a 3rd time tomorrow. NEVER EVER again. I'm going to pay some guys to come,empty it, and then call PODS to pick up their POS. After doing some research and reading some bad reviews, I decided to drive out and talk to someone at the Pods office in Riverside. Met with the "new" manager Mr. Moreno. I did mention some bad reviews I saw on Yelp. Mr. Moreno told me that those were older reviews and were towards the previous management. As you can see the new and most current reviews show that Mr. Moreno and his staff have improved and doing a great job. After talking and going over a few options I went ahead and ordered a bundle that included three months of storage. Drop off appointment was made as notified. Service was great. Pick up of the Pod was on time. So far so good. It was great idea and recommend that not just call but meet with Mr. Moreno if you can. I hope this review helps. read more

Started my POD experience in Concord, Ca a month ago. I was doing a long distance move to Southern California but I didn't know where I was going to live yet so I didn't have address for them to ship it to yet. THe automated system ended up charging me the $1000 shipping fee before they even dropped it off for me to fill. I was a little pissed off that they hit my credit card before I was ready but they reversed the charges and held my POD in the Benecia yard until I had an address for them to drop it off at. Overall a great experience! Polite knowledgeable drivers, good customers service, all in all great professional service a service that I will use for my next move. Do NOT use this service - called about using PODS discussed some basics provided them our credit card info but needed to finalize the agreement. The next thing we know there is a call about delivering PODS to our home and they charged the credit card. We called to cancel and they refused to refund our money and want to charge us an additional fee for canceling something never scheduled. They promised to refund our money. DO NOT USE PODS.. we just bought a new house and we were so excited to move in to find ROACHES in all of our stuff! I hate bugs and to know all my bedding, furniture and children's clothes have been a roach motel for the last month is disgusting! And now my new home may have a roach problem! So not only did they mess up my delivery and pick up at our new home they charged me another 800 dollars for 2 pods for the month because of their mistake! When i asked to speak with a manager about this i was told there is no manager and they would do anything different! So i had to say " manager, supervisor or person in charge" she then said yes we have that and put me on hold for 10 minute until i hung up! These people sent a 16ft Pod that barely fits the boxes let alone the furniture. All of it can't fit and they won't send another Pod out until next week. With escrow closing there is a deadline to be out of my home. So not only am I paying $500 for the movers to move 1/4 of my stuff. Now I have to get another truck and movers on the very last day I can be here. This was a nightmare. I have to pay to move twice wasting time and money. I'll never go through this company again. We are remodeling our house, so I called to find out information and prices. It could NOT have been a better experience. Don answered the call the spent quite some time answering my questions and providing me with a price quote. He explained exactly how the whole process works and made some suggestions We won't be using the POD for a number of months, so I'll report back when the entire process has been concluded. DO NOT USE PODS! Read the reviews, these are not isolated incidents, they are this terrible company's business model. It's hard to imagine any company could be this incompetent, it has to be deliberate. Their web site is hopeless. When it is accessible, information is incorrect and inconsistent. They lie, break promises, overcharge routinely, fail to deliver, even after making you wait on hold multiple times trying to verify information. Forget any option to escalate when they screw up (and they will, at every juncture) -- every escalation path is a dead end. Threats do no good, we really need legal action to put this company out of business and save others from being ripped off. After multiple missed deadlines have forced us to delay moving across the country, I waited until the last minute to schedule moving help, wanting to confirm that the container would actually show up on time. They assured me it would, and I scheduled movers. The next day I was fortunate to check one last time, and learned that my POD was nowhere near the destination, and would not be delivered as promised! I had to cancel the movers and incur a $120 charge. No one notified me of the delay, or I'd have a team sitting here with nothing to unload. I still have zero confidence my stuff will show up, and am still sitting in an empty house. Update: So we had a plan to pay pods on the 3rd of July back in June well my wife thought she would have enough to cover everything but fell short on July 3rd when she got paid, they told her the amount be just over $1,000. Now my wife called on July 8th to set it up to pay and was told to call back on the July 15th because we have only 5 days to pay even though my wife was told 10 days to pay and now they are saying we will owe $2200 to $2500. Pods remember we have other bills. Why do you keep changing your fucking story ever time we call, no it's this much, oh no it's only 5 days to pay not 10 and so on. You guys suck and I will never use you ever again you are shady and no I don't have the customer number because it's under my wife and I don't know who my wife can contact about this issue because you keep changing your shit. My wife things that you will give us a hard time about getting our things back or we will pay it and go pick it up on the schedule day and you will give us a hard time. We are not very happy with this service it's stressing. I don't like that pods can't give you a price for what you owe to get your stuff out so we can budget it into our other bills, but pods won't tell you what you finally owe because of other fees they attach on the final bill to get your things out. You need to have a better system then what you have, it seems you are trying to scam us and keep our things. I'm very pissed off with pods and your customer service agents. Your no help what so ever. Update: like I stated in my review (if you have really read it) that I don't have the customer Id because it's under my wife. But never mind because we finally paid the bill today July 17 2019 and you didn't give us 5 days to pay like you told us, it said in the contract that my wife received in the email that we had to pay before 5pm eastern time on July 18 2019. My wife called on Monday July 15 2019 to set it up and they told her that she would have 5 business days to pay, well that was a lie because she only had 3 days to pay. Here is an example of a business at its worst. The moving industry has a reputation for ripping off its customers, but PODS takes it to a new low (as if that's even possible). Today after speaking to a Rep for 30 minutes regarding the pickup of my 2nd (of 3) POD scheduled for tomorrow the best she would do was to send a request to the Dispatcher to try and set up a swap of the remaining 3rd POD at the same time. She told me that they wouldn't respond to the request and I would have to wait till the AM to find out if it would be done. Notice that I never mentioned a problem with my balance due as she never mentioned anything about it either. Well, when I went to the website now I find that my account is "locked" because of an outstanding balance! Interestingly the account is on auto-pay (and has been since last July) and every month they charge me almost $1,000 for storage without fail. So I immediately called them and got a Rep who has severely limited intelligence and his response was noteworthy for its lack of any pertinence to my problem. But he did tell me that the Billing Department said I should call back on Monday and speak to the Collection Department because my Bank declined their charge. Of course, he couldn't transfer me to them insisting that I call on Monday and no information regarding the scheduled pick-up was forthcoming. So I called my Bank and surprise PODS tried to charge my card twice the same day for $350. minutes apart so they flagged the charge as possible fraud! Ironically when I returned to the PODS site and checked their billings to my credit card, none of the invoices matched the $350 amount, which doesn't match any of my previous monthly rentals. The incompetence is beyond me - How does this bunch of amateurs stay in business? I would never recommend them to my worst enemies it is just too cruel. read more

After going through the hassle of self-storage, I figured I would give this service a try. I will always do self-service in the future if I need to move again, because it was NOT worth the shadiness, dishonesty and fraudulent behavior of this company. PODS advertised and priced one month of storage and drop off and return of unit to PODS location; I was later denied this service and told I hadn't ordered it when I called customer service. The website clearly advertises that the price I paid for these services includes drop off and return of the unit, with no mention of additional fees for same-day return. I was given no option to select a return date, only an option to select--and pay for--the date that the unit would ultimately be delivered to my new residence after the up to one month of storage. On the day my unit was delivered, after it was loaded, I called and said I needed it to be picked up and returned to the PODS location. I was told that this could not be done until almost 2 weeks later, or 4 days prior to the time it would need to be delivered to my new location, and past the expiration of my lease, which would make the unit subject to towing. When I protested, I was only informed that I would be responsible for paying for the towing. I spent almost an hour on the phone with PODS. I was told that I had not in fact ordered one month of storage, even though I had paid over $256 for one month of storage. After begging and pleading, a later date was scheduled for the return of the unit to the storage facility, which was late enough to risk me losing money under my lease and which just barely missed the mark of getting the unit towed away by my landlords. At this point in my conversation with the customer service agents, I decided to make things clear and indicate that when the unit would be dropped off at my new location, I would need it picked up again and returned to the PODS facility that same day. I was only THEN told, for the first time, that same-day return is an additional $125, even though the quoted price that I received clearly indicated that the approximately $520 total I would be paying for everything included delivery of the unit, return to the location and one month of storage, then delivery of the unit at the new location and return to the storage unit. There was NOTHING in the quote or purchase details indicating that I would need to pay another $125 for same-day pick up, or $250 additional total to have same-day pick up for both the locations, the old and new apartments. This company has exhibited truly shady advertising, marketing and customer service. I requested a partial refund and was denied, which is laughable given what PODS has and will continue to put me through for the next couple weeks. Though this became a minor point after dealing with the PODS customer service representatives, the unit was not even on time. I was given a 3-hour delivery window, and the unit did not arrive during this time. I had to call to find out what was going on, and the customer service representative told me that the 3-hour window was only an "estimate," and she was unable to give me any idea as to when the unit would be delivered; she could only confirm that I was on the list for the route for that day. I got a call about 20 minutes later from the driver saying that he was another 30 minutes away. Ridiculous. read more

Per Customer Service, there is no way to delete your information or account with PODS. Once you open up an account with them, you're forever a customer. It's absolutely awful because you are required to enter your personal information and they don't assure you of how they are keeping your information safe. Just that "it's safe". This is one of the most inconvenient and expensive storage units I have ever used in my life. It seems hassle free but there are several elements to this business I disagree with, for one they charge you a $85 picking up fee, then another $85 for the pick up of the pod that's on top of the average 150/ month storage fee. The pod takes for ever to schedule a drop off and when it does get delivered you get a driver who is incompetent and ruder than a ny taxi driver. You will never catch me using pods again. read more

If I could give ZERO STARS to PODS, I would. Trust me on this. We were moving from LA to Honolulu. Because PODS told us specifically that in order to get the container out from the San Diego port, I needed to have the POD ready for pick up by 5/29/14. Per their request, we were all packed up. PODS picked up the container on 5/29/14. I called into PODS on 6/5/14 to see when our POD was going to arrive in Honolulu and a representative tells me it is still sitting in the Chino Storage. I am pretty upset about this because they will now be charging me an additional $149.99 for another month of the POD rental since the whole process has been delayed. PODS said that because I did not follow up with them, our container was sitting in the Chino Storage. As a customer, why would I have to be the one to follow up with them???? I then had it escalated to a Manager and the Manager apologized for not getting back to me sooner because they have too many investigations and that customers may be wrong because they do not listen. Wow! Way to exceed customer's expectations. In addition, the manager said I should have been the one to follow up with the representative. I'm sorry, am I not the customer and did I not just pay a $2900 for crappy customer service? I will be reporting them to the BBB. Speaking of the BBB, they have over 300 complaints and I wonder why. I was very pleasantly surprised! Scheduling dates (online and over the phone) was easy. The drivers were competent, skilled, and pleasant. "Podzilla," the device that actually places the POD, is impressive. After reading other reviews, I expected a disaster! But everything was smooth. Got two Pods after my dad died and I had to move. I had pods store my containers and they dropped them after two months at my sons house. Now I have found a property in Anza and it's a half an hour away from my sons house. Pods says they won't deliver to my new address. Wtf? I said it's half hour away! We're in same state! Nope. I have to now rent a truck to move the stuff out of my pod and haul it to my new place with an injured back and being a single older woman. This was the second time I used this company. Never again. If I could give zero stars I would. We moved out of state and used pods to store and ship our items. We were misquoted on our transit fees. Dealt with trying to figure that out for over a week. Then have to pay another months rent even though its supposed to be shipped and here on the 30th. After paying everything my pod was supposed to be shipped yesterday and since it's been such a hassle I called today to verify. The customer service agent tells me my pod was not shipped. That they want even more money which he couldn't explain why and when I questioned it he hung up on me!!! This has been the most stressful experience and I still have no pod. . . Worst company ever! Terrible customer service. Please, please, please do not use this company. All of these bad reviews can't be wrong. I had sold my business, and I made the PODS people aware that it was very important that they remove their filled container on the scheduled date, so the new owner could use his parking lot where my pod was placed for a special event the following day after the pod was supposed to be picked up. They had a lot of guests who needed that parking area for the whole weekend. Fast forward 5 days later it was still not picked up. And when I spoke to the company to express my dismay, they acted rude, and did not act like they cared at all. Also, the movers, Pack & Load Services that they recommended were awful too. They overcharged me for extra hours of work, which they did not do any extra hours, and they also charged me for materials they didn't use. When I called to dispute the extra charges to Pack & Load Services, they said they would look into it and get back to me, which they never did. I had to dispute those charged directly with my credit card company. Please take my advice and do not have a horrible experience like I did and obviously many other customers did as well. I was lied to and then they said they were going to review their recorded calls and gave me an incident report number then emailed me that they are going to cancel my incident report due to the fact that I didnt pick up my phone when they called while I was at work 2 times. I had a good Pods Experience. I was selling my home and we packed up all the extra stuff and when the house sold we packed up the rest. It took a little time to find the next house to buy but when we did we were able to get the pods into place and unload- so much easier than having to load and reload at a regular storage. A couple of notes- you HAVE to plan with pods, and have the money to give or take a month storage because of unforeseen things. Also have to have the space and a city that lets you park a pod at your location. So lots of planning with pods, they need AT LEAST 3 days notice for pick ups and drop offs. read more

Initially, I thought this company was a good idea. It's great as long as no one moves the container out the driveway! The moment these inexperienced drivers come you see the pod teeter back and forth. They tell you don't worry about it, your items are fine. The second thing about this company is their worthless insurance coverage.They recite one thing about what they cover, and after you purchase the coverage you find out you've been had. You don't receive a copy of the policy, unless you submit a claim for damages. I filed a claim for damages only to be told it was my fault I didn't pack the container correctly. I was told by my neighbor that he saw my pod flopping down the15 freeway on his way to Costco, so the driver took the 15 fwy to the 91 east. The container was stored in Riverside. I wouldn't recommend this company for all the reason's stated by others and then some. I too was overcharged, they damaged every item that was wood and reneged on the insurance portion. What I find hysterical about their insurance is what it covers, fire or lightning, windstorm or hail but not loss caused by rain, snow, sleet, sand or dust. Explosion, Riot or Civil Commotion "really"? The POD went about 15 miles if that and they couldn't get it right. Their insurance covers all the things your average insurance policy doesn't. I'm going to post the letter they sent me in its entirety on "facebook" it will be enlightening for some and entertaining for others. I'm posting it so people will know exactly what they're getting when dealing with POD script readers. horrible horrible horrible company. this is by far the most unorganized, inept, rude and worthless company i've ever dealt with in my 56 years of living. in fact, if i could have given a -star rating that still would not have been low enough to represent just how awful this company truly is. i'm honestly not overstating that fact that you should not use this company to even ship a litter box to your neighbor's house let alone your belongings across town or to another state. the aggravation i faced with this company was so unbelievable and maddening that i wouldn't ever wish it on someone else, even if it were someone i didn't like. you'd be better off banging your head against a wall for an hour straight and you'd still feel better than you would after dealing with this company. in my entire life, this is only the second negative review i've ever felt compelled to leave for such a horrible company. buyer beware, use someone else!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I was pleased with the POD itself for my move, but please do not use their recommended Pack and Load Service to load or unload your POD. It is highly overpriced and average in terms of service. Do yourself a favor and hire a local mover and simply pay for time and materials. read more

We ordered a POD to move and were more than pleased with the experience. We had a wonderful man drop off the POD and we just had Barbara pick up the full POD. She was more than pleasant, as was the man, and we have had a wonderful experience. Can't wait to unload at the other end! read more

I'm giving PODS one star just for the driving crew. It's not the driver's fault they work for a company who doesn't care about their customers. We all know work is hard to come by here in Calif. The drivers are GREAT & very apologetic for how PODs handles their customers. Customer service is a complete joke boarder lining on fraud. Their slogan says something about "making moving less stressful" ...Maybe for them because all I did was stress with this move. Not only did they come pick up the containers earlier then the scheduled ETA , they picked up the containers 24 hours later than scheduled & sometimes they forgot that I was even on the schedule. I was quoted a GRAND TOTAL of $917.00 for three 16ft PODS less than 60 miles away, which I felt was reasonable. It wasn't until they had all 3 containers in their possession when I was quoted a SECOND GRAND TOTAL adding on an extra $900.00 to my so called ORGINAL GRAND TOTAL. They said the $900.00 is for the drop off or Redelivery of my containers. I had PODS investigate my phone conversations where I asked, clear as day, what my "GRAND TOTAL" would be & they claimed that the misunderstanding is my fault...They said I never used the word "RE" in delivery & therefore they are not required to add that amount (the Redelivery fee) into the "GRAND TOTAL" quote...huh??? I'm still confused....mainly because I'm surprised that a business doesn't care about their customers & when I expressed that I was going to complain on YELP & Better Business Burial they didn't seem to have the slightest care in the world. Companies like this really shouldn't exist in this day & age. In today's world technology can put company's reputations at stake & we as people should not let companies get away with treating customers like this. I am mostly disappointed that this company survives while other companies that work hard to please their costumers fail. read more

I really wanted to like PODS. I liked the business model, and for our move from Southern California to Southern Oregon, we really didn't want to drive a UHaul. Our experience ended in us writing a 3 page letter to every PODS facility we could figure handled our move (Chino Hills in So Cal), in addition to the corporate office. I exhausted my frustration there, so in summary (yikes, it's still long, sorry): The delivery of the POD was late (not good when you live in an apartment complex, and fighting for parking is serious war) The pick up of the full POD was late. It was supposed to be picked up on a Saturday, but instead sat there until Monday (again, a serious issue with other tenants/leasing office) Along the way I spoke to 3 different CS reps. One was great, but two basically sounded like they couldn't care less about late pick ups and deliveries. And one of them failed to correct the address of our PODS final delivery location (which we later found out on the day we received it). Despite the early annoyance, we were glad the POD was finally on its way. Anyone who makes a long distance move knows that it's an extremely stressful time, and in our case it was emotional as well. Someone needs to tell PODS that. Finally 2 business days before we were scheduled to receive our items (already 6 days of us not having our things) we got a call that there was a delay. They would be SENDING our container the next Monday. This was the most frustrating of all. So they're telling me that they discovered an error, our container was not shipped, and instead of putting a rush on it and making sure it went out ASAP, they were going to wait 2 additional business days later to ship it, and then we wouldn't get it for ANOTHER 7 business days at our delivery location. I had to raise hell with 3 people on the phone before I got to someone who even remotely could help. I am not someone who likes to be ugly on the phone with people who are just doing their jobs, but I was done. Finally the last person I spoke to opened a request for compensation, but told me there was nothing she could do to rush it. Two days later, I got a phone call from the guy handling my "incident". He left a voicemail saying that the POD had arrived at our destination and we needed to call back to reschedule. Elated, I called him back right away but had to leave a message. A couple hours went by and I called again - left another message. Finally I called the CS line and just arranged it with someone else. You would think that someone handling a customer with an already bad experience would make sure to call you back, or arrange for another employee to take care of you... but no. Instead he called me back the next day and simply said " I noticed you rescheduled delivery. Anything else I can help you with?" Obviously, I was happy we were receiving our items, but our experience was so awful that you would think we would've been offered SOMETHING for our huge headache. No compensation. This guy didn't give a crap either. No one did. That is ultimately my biggest problem with this company. Even when in the position of having a dissatisfied customer, they have a "so what?" attitude. Fine, don't give me money back. But actually give a damn. That would help. Don't make your customers feel like they are nothing to you. As I told them over the phone, we paid $2000 to their company. We could have chose anyone else, but we chose them. They could have at least been sympathetic and treated their customer better. If this exact scenario played out, and we had good customer service, I would've considered using them again. But that will never happen. Oh and we have no idea why it arrived when it did (1 day late from the original scheduled time). No one could tell us if it was a computer glitch, if they expedited it, nothing. If I could give 0 or -5 stars, I would. Terrible experience from the beginning. Initially got all my moving date information wrong, and I had to call 3 times before they got the correct dates. Charged the wrong credit card for the second installment, which I had explicitly stated not to charge, and was assured it would not be charged. Obviously did not make a note of that. Worst of all, my POD was infested with RATS, though it was supposedly held in a pest controlled building in both Santa Maria and Chino (I moved from central California to Orange County). I lost $30,000 worth of furniture, clothes, children's items, kitchen wares, etc. When I submitted a formal complaint, I was told I would receive a call back the next business day. No call. I only received attention after contacting the president's personal email about my loss. I began to receive more timely and informative responses from management while they submitted my claim to insurance. This ultimately led to a lengthy experience with an insurance claim company that would never answer any of my questions. They basically ignored the case and gave an occasional 1 sentence email explaining nothing at all about what was going on. Months went by, and they eventually said, "we don't cover rodents." I don't think it needed to be tied up for so long to come to that conclusion. I only ever got answers by contacting several people over and over. In the end, PODS offered me $800. I spent $1800 on the service in the first place, lost $30,000 of stuff, and had 2 family members feel ill after throwing away all the stuff so my 2 babies wouldn't become sick from contact with those items. I did not take the $800 because it just seemed laughable after how much I had lost from this. Their explanation is that it could have been infested while sitting at my house for a couple of days before it was picked up and moved by them. We packed the entire pod ourselves with help of others, and we had no rodent issues during packing or in our home at any time while living there. Some people leave pods in their driveway for months, but I wanted it to be safely stored in their pest controlled facility. If they think it's not safe for 2 days in front of my non-rodent-infested house, maybe their PODS should be made better, or at least tell people to put traps all around them. No one tells you upfront that your POD does not seal fully (I later found on the website that they say they aren't sealed to keep your stuff from molding). I have since read many reviews about PODS and rodent infestation, and I believe they need to warn consumers to take their own steps to protect their stuff upfront simply because they don't seal fully, and apparently have a problem with keeping them pest free. When I asked initially about possible damage when deciding to order the pod, they said "sun damage or damage from driving it to the facility if things moved around", no mention of rodents being something to take action against. My things had been fully nested in, pooped and peed on, and chewed up by several rats, not just one. There was too much damage to be just one rat (according to Orkin pest control). I only had my things in storage for 2 months. I have stored my things in a few storage units before for many months at a time with no such problem. I understand that PODS has to protect themselves legally from people trying to take advantage of them in case it is in fact the fault of the person loading the items into the POD. However, they need to take better preventative care to protect their customers from these sort of misfortunes. I thought PODS would be a convenient way to store my stuff for a short time, but it turned into a major loss for me. read more

My initial experience with PODS was great. service was good, supplies and movers all connected. But then I went to schedule delivery. they would not allow a specific delivery time. THEN they argued withe me about my agreement. the customer service senior leader, Shevonne, was extremely rude on the phone and not helpful. finally, I have an open incident and have not heard from anyone in a week+. Rochelle on the other hand was very kind when I called in follow up. but still haven't heard from anyone on my incident. I just hope my pod shows up on time. read more
